The best advice for anyone wishing to travel to Pakistan is to learn the local culture and custom such as modest dress to avoid any offence and unnecessery attention before they travel. It is also ideal to learn some Urdu words/phrases to communicate. English is understood by a significant proportion of the population, however it is not used to communicate except by the rich elite class. Solo travel is something new to Pakistan. Many local people will stare at tourists, not to scam them but purely out of curiosity as it may just be the first time they may have met a foreign person. The stares can feel very uncomfortable as itt is deemed rude in the west but for the local population it's just an unfortunate habit.
@@OTWD_yt Pakistans previous governments have done very little to promote tourism due to the dire security situation since the 2001 US war/invasion of its western neighbour Afghanistan. I was born and raised in the UK, though my parents are Pakistani. I've visited Pakistan a few times, and I've often heard people complain that Pakistanis tend to stare a lot. Honestly, I think that's true to some extent, especially if someone stands out, like if they have fair skin, visible tattoos, or a very different appearance from the local norm. For example, I once saw a tourist who was tall, blond, and heavily tattooed walking through a market in Lahore. People couldn’t help but stare at him, not out of rudeness, but because he looked so different from everyone else. It’s like if someone in the U.S. wore traditional Japanese samurai armor to a grocery store; people would naturally notice because it’s unusual. In my case, I look Pakistani, and during my visits, I’ve never experienced people staring at me like that. From what I’ve observed, it’s less about disrespect and more about curiosity when someone looks noticeably different or unique.
