Bro you gotta stop with the "Angels are moving out of Anaheim" propaganda. You know nothing about the area. They have been a top 10 attendance team for over 20 years. Ohtani leaving doesn't change that.
They haven't been top 10 in attendance since 2019 if you think that's going to change this year after losing the best player in baseball then I don't know what to tell you
The Angels are in a huge market. Even with the Dodgers. Moving the team would be dumb. A new owner could do for the Angels what Steve Balmer is doing with the clippers. Trying to compete and steal marketshare. If any team should move it’s the Clippers but Ballmer knows better
3 things could happen with the Angels. 1. Major Renovation with a ballpark village. 2. New Ballpark in same location with an eventual ballpark village. 3. Relocate to Long Beach to a new ballpark keeping the Los Angeles Angels name.
Miami Hurricanes use to play at Loan Depot park where the Marlins play. It was formerly called Marlins Park; but prior to it, park was called the ORIGINAL Orange Bowl Stadium as home to Miami Hurricanes football stadium where there were many classic & historical games for both Hurricane football and actual Orange Bowl games during Bowl Season. Unfortunately, heard it's outside Miami and think Coral Gabels where University campus is located. Plus heard that the area around Marlins current park is not that good- in a bad area in last roughly 20 years. Hence why the Marlins use to play at Joe Robbie/Pro Player/Dolphins Stadium, NEW Orange Bowl Stadium from recollection to start but wanted baseball stadium, especially seating arrangements so that they can sell out games. Therefore, the switch and now why Hurricanes play in the aforementioned football stadium where the Dolphins play. BTW: Dolphins have made renovations to that 50+ year old stadium and made it look good after the name changes. Unfortunate that Hurricanes probably have to travel almost cross city since stadium isn't close to campus compared to their old spot where Marlins currently play unless mistaken.
Angels in inglewood is insanity. They would leave the core of their base in orange county. Angels do sell over 2.5 million tickets. Inglewood is Dodgers county.
The Angels don't need to move anywhere. Do you hear the Dodgers talk about moving? The Ray's are staying in St. Pete. St. Pete. stadium area is predicted to be the new hip area in Florida. There's talk of removing the interstate next to the Trop and making it into a promenade walkway and road. Finally, I haven't heard of any government in Tennessee speaking of cutting a check to build a baseball stadium.
Yah I'm with you. I don't see the Angels moving and not to Sofi. They need to re-develop the area they currently have. Its a ghost town given how valuable Orange County RE is.
@@MountainFisher If they move anywhere, it will be to Long Beach. If the Angels stay in Anaheim then Long Beach will try to lure the Chargers. If the Angels move then Anaheim will try to move the Chargers.
No way the marlins gonna leave just because of attendance. Florida is one of the biggest tv markets for MLB. Marlins stay in Miami Rays move to Orlando Nashville gets an expansion.
@@BlackSaiyan24 Nah. St. Pete has shown they deserve the Rays. Love how all the people that do not live here are so clueless about the area and its dynamics. Orlando is a terrible spot for baseball. They will get less than 10K per game there. St. Pete will be fine with proper infrastructure improvements. National have no idea how problematic parking and traffic is around the stadium. THAT is why people avoid it, because it can be a drive over bridges AND terrible to get in and out of. The new plan makes access MUCH easier, including likely getting rid of the ridiculous Interstate spur that helps cause most of the traffic and parking issues.
If the Rays actually built the new Stadium in downtown Tampa, more people would go. I would have season tickets. The Lightning play in downtown Tampa and sell out almost every game.
These are my thoughts: 1. Rays probably stay in St. Pete with that development or try to find a site in Tampa (still love Ybor City). Miami going to Orlando makes sense or potentially Charlotte down the road. 2. Nashville gets the expansion team for the East Coast. 3. The Athletics stay in Oakland until the move to Vegas. Sure, it looks bad that they draw 10k fans and it's not sold out, but I don't see MLB wanting an MLB team to play in a AAA ballpark either unless it's in Vegas. It's not just the capacity, but it's also the baseball facilities for the players including locker rooms/clubhouse, training spaces, cages, etc. There is a huge difference between a AAA ballpark and an MLB ballpark. Oakland will protest, but eventually Fisher is going to have to put together a competitive team BEFORE moving to Vegas, which means there will be some good talent to see for fans those last couple of years. Can't roll into Vegas in '28 with two AAA caliber rosters in the same city. The AAA move talk just seems like a leveraging play to the city of Oakland to me. Also... how the heck would you sell free agents on playing in a AAA park. "Hey, remember all that work you put in to make it to the MLB? How would you like to go back and play 81 games at a AAA ballpark again. Your away games will be cool though..." No chance. The Coliseum is in rough shape, but in the end, it's still an MLB ballpark. Fix the ballpark a bit and increase the leasing fee by a lot. Done and done. 4. Portland or SLC get the second expansion team. I don't see another team in Texas until those markets are tapped into first. Portland still makes the most sense to me because of the Portland media market and giving Seattle a natural rival. 5. Angels stay in Anaheim, and probably get a new ballpark. Even in the years before Ohtani, they were top 10 in attendance there. They have money to spend and have the fan support. Still have Trout until they build up another contender as well. They need a new owner though.
@@harryballsak1123 I mean, I highly doubt they would go anywhere for another 10 years here. In terms of the lease, teams break leases early as it is a decent amount. Some might be more costly to break, but it does happen. With the Marlins situation, it's just that there is no support for baseball there. He mentioned it too in the video, but they just don't draw fans. Even in the year the ballpark opened in 2012, Miami was still 18th in the league in attendance. After that, they've never been above 27th in the league in attendance while being dead last in attendance from 2018-2021 only to fall to 29th after the last spot was taken over by Oakland in 2022 and 2023. Personally, I think the issue with the Marlins is more just how they are run. In a city like Miami, you need star power... just like LA. And, they don't have that currently and haven't for awhile. I don't think it's a coincidence that when they were drawing 1.7M fans to the stadium each year, it was when they had guys like Yelich and Stanton. Then, they get rid of those guys and their attendance dropped by 600k-1M fans per year. I don't think that's a coincidence, and I think they would be better off with some big-name guys they can market around. Not saying they have nearly the same market as LA, but they need someone to market around. Until then, their attendance issues are going to be rough. They were averaging 21k fans per game until 2018 though, when that number then cut in half down to 10k the last few years. They are fixable when run correctly.
@@Gopper_Gaming-MLBTheShow They are not breaking the lease the state of Florida paid a good amount for that stadium they re not going to just let the Marlins go. In 10 years MLB will have expanded shutting off 2 more options for a team to move and they aren't moving to Orlando as the Rays will claim the territory
@@harryballsak1123they may prob move after, i said the city of Miami won’t let them leave until the stadium is paid off and that’s about a good 20 years away.
@@mattyg4186 who cares about 2048? People caring about a baseball team moving away 1/4 century from now when they might not even be alive. Weird. Miami will probably underwater by then.
Salt Lake City is a good city for Baseball because of the type of people who live there. They're super loyal to the Jazz and care deeply about having a good impression of the city. It's kind of a mini Texas in that way.
My thoughts: realignment plus expansion happens simultaneously. . That shuts the west out as there are eight teams Denver and west. My two expansion cities are Charlotte and Montreal. Rays stay in Tampa, Oakland stays in Oakland short term. Vegas gets the shaft. Miami if they go anywhere wint go until the expansion teams are playing a couple seasons.
Good post. A's go to Sacramento and stay there... or become Portland or SLC. I have a feeling the agreement they have with LV may go south. Charlotte may not get the MLB gig, that could well go to Raleigh/Durham.
Yes, Utah is trying to get both…and not only that, the legislature just approved (and Governor Cox is expected to sign) $900 million for EACH sport for two different arenas.
I remember somebody saying that Salt Lake City wouldn’t be an option, because they can’t serve Beer 🍺 there. I’m not sure how true or accurate that is though
The Houston Astros believe they owned San Antonio and their fans. The Texas Rangers believe they own the city of Austin both teams will deny this, but it is the truth . The owner of the Astros and the owner of the Rangers will try to block this with everything they got. Go Astros beat the strangers.
The issue with Montreal is not support. Montreal has a big population, and a long history of supporting baseball. the problem is that Stade Olympique is a terrible stadium, and the provincial government has said there is no way they are building another stadium. Stade Olympique cost over US$1 billion because of loans and they didn't pay it off until the Expos were gone. It is a shame because the baseball fans in Montreal deserve a team.
@@TeganX7 Is there no way a company like Bell or Videotron could build a new stadium privately? Is it impossible to use the shell of Olympic Stadium, gut it, and build a baseball stadium inside it? The reason I'm mentioning the latter is because the Quebec government always seems to have money for Olympic Stadium, even though it doesn't have a function anymore. I wish they could just put that $800+ million dollars that they want to spend on the roof of Olympic Stadium into a new baseball stadium for Montreal. I agree with you. Montreal fans do deserve a team and a new stadium.
@@robinchase2141 I certainly think that private construction would be possible, and it may even be possible to but the old place to upgrade it, but as we have seen, there are not a lot of companies / billionaires putting their hands in the air to build stadiums. Heck, if someone stepped forward to privately finance a stadium, I think Montreal would jump at that.
as a native Texan and astros fan, I would love for San Antonio or Austin to get a MLB franchise... I just dont see it happening as it cuts in to the markets of the astros and rangers. for what its worth though... I'd rather San Antonio get a team over Austin
Angels: Move the team to the Inland Empite (Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario). On some demographic listings, it is considered separate from the LA metro. Also, some "poll opinion" maps show Riverside County having more Angels than Dodgers fans. Marlins: Instead of putting MLB in Mexico, move the team to Cuba or Puerto Rico. There was once a successful AAA team in Havana (the Sugar Kings). However, they were forced leave to once Fidel Castro took over. Today, he is no longer a factor. Before the Expos moved to DC, they played some games in San Juan, PR which seemed to go over well. Either way, the Marlins (or whatever they'd be named) would enjoy a major league sports monopoly. As for Florida, would MLB be okay with NO team in that high-population state? Finally, if the A's take a temporary home in Sacramento, what happens to the AAA River Cats during that time? Footnote nitpick: Sacramento's field is named "Sutter Health Park," no "h."
DG, what do you think about this? The goal is to put teams within divisions of close geographical proximity to maximize cross fan attendance. Moves: Angles to Portland MIA to Charlotte TB to Nashville A’s to Vegas Expansion Salt Lake Albuquerque moves up from AAA San Antonio AL North BO, TOR, NY, NY Central CHI, CHI, STL, KC South TX, HOU, SA, ALB West CO, SEA, STLC, POR NL North PiIT, PHL, BAL, WAS Central DET, MK, MIN, CLE South ATL, CH, NAS, CINCI West SF, LA, SD, LV
Angels aren’t moving out of Orange County. Very populated and beloved to the Angels. Top 12 in attendance even with losing records the past years. This just shows you know very little of the Southern California area.
Give Anaheim a chance to keep the Angels, but I wouldn't be opposed to a move, even to Sacramento since the Angels probably won't be able to compete with the Dodgers for a long time. They may want to keep 1 team but since both Angel Stadium and Honda Center are going to need to be replaced soon, they probably won't keep both unless 1 is 100% privately funded. I would think a replacement for Honda Center would be a better investment for Anaheim but they may rather keep the Angels and let the Ducks move (San Diego is a great choice imo, they're getting an arena soon)
The Marlin’s stadium biggest problem is the location. Most of the fans drive down from Broward and Palm Beach counties down into a crap neighborhood. Tampa is growing like crazy. I don’t see MLB giving up on Florida. It’s too big of a Market. The Marlins and the Rays biggest historic issues is that they both have never had any big star players like a Trout, Harper, Pujols, or Ohtani to draw fans.
Not to mention the traffic in Miami would be murder for a weeknight game. People are more forgiving of bad traffic on weekends because they don't have to go to work the next day.
I thought I would put my 2 cents in. Because of the Weather on the Atlantic Side of The United States = I propose a Movement to start with the Army/Navy Game. Have it on Christmas Day at United Airlines Field at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum or put the Game at So-Fi Stadium.
#2 - My Friend could So-Fi Stadium Host the NCAA Final Four Men's Weekend? A Yes or No is all I need. If we can, add the Women as well. Make it run from Friday to Monday. Friday and Sunday - The Ladies and Saturday & Monday - The Men.
First off, what do you think of moving the Army/Navy Game to Christmas Day. You have Camp Pendleton there, the Air Force Academy isn't far away. A Lot of Families could spend Christmas in Los Angeles.
Final - if you move the A - it would open up space to make the Disney Park of California larger. It could be something like Animal Kingdom in Orlando or even EPCOT California. What happens to the Honda Center where the Anaheim Mighty Ducks play or do the Mighty Ducks move to the Clippers (sorry to say this) - The Clippers and Chargers should never have left San Diego. The Cardinals (NFL) should never have left St. Louis. There I've said my peace. Qualcomm - the one Stadium - The Packers could have won 2 Super Bowls. However, being the Chargers are a AFC Team - The Denver Broncos won the Super Bowl . No I'm not ranting about that. Jordan Love and Jared Goff are two of the Best Quarterbacks in the NFL right now. Detroit and Green Bay could have been Co-Champions very easily. Close Losses to Atlanta, the Las Vegas "Oakland" Raiders (it's where they belong) Pittsburgh and Denver (Again) - Packers finished 9 & 7. Add 4 Wins and minus off the Losses - Green Bay 13 & 3. How about that. It Could Have Happened. By the way, Matt LaFleur is a Great Coach. Does a lot for High School Aged Kids in Wisconsin. I wish you could see Green Bay. Oh yeah - God is a Packer Fan.
Too far away from both schools. No. But personally, I think it's time for Army/Navy to be played before the conference championship games. Especially now that both are in the American.
As a Reds fan, could maybe make an argument too for St. Louis to be more of a natural rival for Nashville in terms of miles compared to Cincy, in addition to more of geographic and more direct into timezone situation. Nashville is Central time zone like St. Louis while Cincy is Eastern timezone. Not saying Reds and those darn Cards have had heated battles in past; but think Reds have a more natural rivalry with Pirates going back to early 1900's, probably even back into the late 1890's. Furthermore, can't forget baseball rivalry between the 2 boils over into Bengals/Steelers football rivalry, which sometimes go hand in hand.
I hope this is true about both the Rays and Marlins moving. I'm generally against expansion when there are already teams who can't get fans to the stadium. Despite both teams making the playoffs the Rays and Marlins combined couldn't even halfway sell out home playoff games last year. Imagine how bad it gets when they *aren't* playoff teams. Florida just doesn't support home playoff teams like everyone would expect based on population. Most MLB fans in Florida are transplants from other cities and would rather watch their *actual* favorite team when the entire Eastern half of the United States plays there every March. The Rays building a brand new stadium in the exact same area when they can't even halfway sell out playoff home games in that area after a 99-win season is just stupid. I know the Marlins have a relatively new stadium but clearly no one goes to the games even when they are a playoff caliber team either. I've had friends that were fans of away teams playing there and they flew all the way to Miami to watch the road team play and they hated the experience. Their flight obviously arrives several hours before the game started so they brought hundreds of dollars in $ so they could pay for food and drinks at a nearby stadium bar or restaurant while they waited for the game to start. The thing is there are no nearby bars or restaurants. They walked around for miles with money burning in their pocket but they couldn't spend it because there is nowhere around there to spend it. They literally just sat at a bus stop for several hours doing nothing just waiting for the game to start. Then when they got there the stadium was almost empty and it turned out most of the fans were road team fans just like them. And this was actually during a *playoff* season for the Marlins. It sucks to build a brand new stadium and waste it but the entire point of a new stadium is to get people in the door. The Marlins stadium does not accomplish that goal. It doesn't matter how bad or good a team is if no one will come watch them play. It's not like the Marlins would care anyway. Guess what? The city of Miami paid for that entire stadium on tax payer dollars. The Marlins don't lose any money by moving to a city that will actually support them. That stadium was such a terrible idea that the Miami Mayor who funded it literally lost his job as Mayor specifically because he funded that stadium. Just like the Rays the Marlins should move to a state that actually supports it's home baseball team. Not stay in a state where 99% of baseball fans would rather go watch meaningless Spring Training games played by teams who represent cities that are literally thousands of miles away. Nashville wants a team but that is technically Atlanta Braves territory. No reason to expand when it makes perfect sense to give that territory to a different team while simultaneously giving the Braves their original territory in Florida back at the exact same time. Don't expand until you've moved all the teams who aren't supported first. Them decide if you want to expand if that works out. Floridians don't support MLB enough to even deserve one team. Much less two.
I was born and raised in Long Beach, CA. Interesting as when the Angels were first looking into their new stadium, Long Beach had the first option. However, at the time, the city fathers insisted the team be called the Long Beach Angels and would not relent. Know how that stupidity ended. Anaheim did not care and , of course, the name California was adopted.
There is absolutely no appetite in the state of Tennessee to fund ANOTHER huge stadium project in Nashville. The rest of the state is basically done funding their growth.
Nashville/Davidson County accounts for just about 20% of the funding for the entire State of Tennessee(while only being 10% of the population). The people of Davidson County even allow the state to take more money in taxes than is legally required... you know to help the poorer counties. So if Nashville does get an MLB team, and ask for a little of its money back to fund the stadium, the other 94 counties should just say thank you.
In my opinion, this is the order of prominence I'd place for expansion cities, if it were up to me. 1) Charlotte 2) Austin 3) Salt Lake City 4) Orlando 5) Nashville 6) Raleigh-Durham
They're not going to let both Florida teams move out of the state. 1 leaves Florida, sure. 1 leaves the state and the other moves to Orlando, maybe. Both leave Florida, no What I think happens is the Marlins leave Florida and MLB vetoes anything from St. Pete to force the Rays to either move to Tampa or Orlando (as a Rays fan, I'd honestly be fine with either at this point just not St. Pete since it's not sustainable). University of Miami takes over Loan Depot Park and does a huge renovation to make it a football stadium that can also host soccer (won't host UM soccer but is available for pro soccer games) Tampa Bay's issue in the playoff game was 1 location and the fact that they gave us both weekday day games and people can't take off work on such a short notice.
@@Smiggly2574 I think Orlando might be a little more keen on paying for it just to land a team. Plus theres an ownership group whos willing to pay for a stadium and a team
The Angels aren’t going anywhere, the land they are on has way too much potential, if they get a new owner I expect them to develop right where they are, they have a lease through 2038 so they have plenty of time to figure that out
For the Oakland A’s, if I had it my way, I would force the current A’s ownership to sell. With new ownership group, go back to the table with the city of Oakland and state of California to make a new stadium deal, either building new stadium on top of existing site, Howard Terminal, or wherever, with concessions that equally favor both the city and team. Should deal fall, then the A’s relocate to Salt Lake City until new stadium is built (either in Vegas or SLC). Should deal go through, Oakland temporarily relocated to Sacramento but plays select games in San Francisco ballpark so they can be somewhat closer to Oakland during this time frame.
Not going to happen for a multitude of reasons my man. Firstly, have you been to Oakland recently? The baseball team only reflects the general decline of the area. How exactly are you going to force the A's ownership to sell? Make them an offer they can't refuse, Al Pacino style? Then you have to find a buyer.... Then there's the crazy idea of the Giants allowing the A's to play in their ballpark. They'd rather let Raiders fans take a shit on their lawn.
If TV money isn't a problem for the A's then why go to Sacramento with the Rivercats branding and protests instead of SLC/Daybreak where ballpark will be branded for them, fans are excited for MLB, and seating increased to 12k?
The Angels need a new stadium. The last time I was there was back in 2007 but even then there was huge cracks on the facade outside the home plate stadium entrance. I think the Angels should build a stadium district where the current stadium is. Hell maybe also build a new hockey arena for the ducks in the stadium district. In terms of expansion, wherever new teams end up, both MLB and the NFL need to completely realign. The other 3 major sports leagues have and eastern and western conferences. This can be done while keeping most big rivalries in tact. It makes way more sense in terms of travel. The Dallas Cowboys being in the same division as 3 teams in the eastern US makes no sense whatsoever.
There are quite a few cities with population numbers that might support a sports team - but MLB has a particular problem. If you have an NBA or NHL team, you need to fill a 15 - 25k seat arena 40 times a year, plus playoff games. In MLB, you need to fill a 30k+ arena 81 times. That is a much more difficult proposition. You need a city that doesn't have other major summer events going on, and which has a large middle class to support the team. There really are not a ton of places left that fit that. Oakland has seemingly claimed Vegas, if they will take them. Portland might work, but I am not totally convinced. SLC - I have serious doubts. I don't even think Nashville will work.
Inglewood is in LA County, but not city. But I agree with you. I don’t see the Angels moving that far north. They have a loyal fan base is Orange County. Moving to Inglewood means they would directly compete with Dodgers for fans.
BTW SLC does have MLS despite it not being one of the major 4 sports. Like it or not, it is the 5th. So many youtubers speak like they know all the aspects of sports in a given city yet they make stupid comments like those we hear on this channel.
Charlotte already has a minor league park way too small. Raleigh has the Hurricanes owner that wants a team there. & Governor wants a team there. Plus it’s farther away from Nashville and Atlanta.
Orlando won't have a fanbase either. The only way Orlando gets a team is if it's the only MLB team in the state and it turns into a destination opponent for other teams. Like the As would be in Las Vegas.
If baseball expands like you suggest it will be a recipe for disaster! There is neither the demand or the players for that. It's not as simple as build a stadium and put a team on the field. It dilutes the talent level in the league overall.
San Antonio just released a plan that would extend the riverwalk around the convention center to the Tower of the Americas. tear down the old (now empty federal courthouse) the old and soon to be vacant federal building as well as the The Institute of Texan Cultures (the building is in bad shape and the institute plans to move). than building a new arena for the Spurs and a Ballpark in there place. giving the new stadiums access to the river and locating them just across I37 from the Alamodome and next to the Tower and the convention center
There will be 32 teams within three years I think. I don't see many moving but I do see a new fanchise in both Nashville (or somewhere in Tennessee) and another in the west - maybe Portland. 32 teams balances out the schedule as we now can have 8 divisions (4 in each league) of 4 teams each. I'd have the Nashville team moving to the new NL South (along with Atlanta, Washington (DC) & St Louis). The new team in Portland will be in the AL West along with the Angels, A's & Mariners. Houston & Texas will be part of the AL south to eliminate all of those two-hour time zone changes against divisional opponents. Now it's a one-hour difference as they'll be in a division with Tampa & Kansas City. I just don't see florida teams moving before we see 32 teams in total. Even by then, MLB wants that florida market. My overall idea for the next 10 years is this: NL EAST - Mets, Phillies, Pirates & Nationals --- NL CENTRAL - Brewers, Cubs, Reds & Rockies ---- NL SOUTH - Braves, Marlins, Nashville & St Louis ---- NL WEST - Dodgers, Giants, Padres & Diamondbacks _________________ AL EAST - Red Sox, Yankees, Blue Jays & Orioles ---- AL CENTRAL - Twins, Guardians, Tigers & White Sox --- AL SOUT - Rays, Royals, Astros & Rangers ---- AL WEST - Angels, Portland, Oakland & Seattle. This could reduce flight travel by 30% overall since divisional games are played more than out of division games. Carbon footprint is such a huge mark to hit by certain people and MLB appears to be quite compliant with that, so less jet fuel used should be a hit point. Kansas City & St Louis kind of hang out in the wind. They're so central, they have options. I figured the best way was to associate them with the south as there's such a saturation of teams in the NE & Central North, they're just more south than the rest.
@@nickb2912 Can't say I don't agree since that's how it was when I was a kid. But something tells me MLB & TV would be 100% against it. They want as many playoff series as possible without it looking like a joke. They'd much rather have 8 division winners and 4-6 wild card teams as opposed to 4 division winners and 8-10 wild card teams. When you have 2-3x as many WCs as you do Div Winners, that joke becomes a reality.
Could not agree with both Florida teams more. Miami is going to become what LA was for the NFL and what Seattle kind of is for the NBA now where its where teams threaten to move to when they don't get a favorable stadium deal. The Marlins have always been a low attendance, irrelevant team in Florida, and 2 World Championships, a state of the art stadium, and multiple Hall of Famers haven't changed a thing!
If the Rays can’t get the deal done in St. Petersburg i could see them attempting to move to Orlando or Nashville. I don’t see the Marlins within the next 10 moving maybe the next 20. The city of Miami won’t let them leave till Loan Depot Park is fully paid off.
I highly doubt the Angels will leave the Los Angeles market. I do think that the Angels leaving Anaheim is a strong possibility. I would keep an eye on Long Beach making a strong push to have the Angels move there it has been talked about before and I know there is an interest on Long Beach’s part.
I heard Montreal wants to another MLB team with a new stadium. i thought the stadium issue at Olympic Stadium was one of the reasons they left, along with attendance.
MLB in Montreal is a DEAD issue. It's OVER! When the group led by Stephen Bronfman failed to get the Tampa Bay - Montreal shared project the land (Peel Bassin) proposed to built a baseball stadium is no longer available. The city of Montreal has approved the project by Evimco to turn Peel Bassin into a major complex that includes Towers (Condos) along with and industrial and commercial park. Construction is set to begin this Fall.
You’ve got to stop showing the Nashville drawings of the riverfront stadium. That was cancelled and they are looking at other less-attractive areas. And the state government isn’t contributing money since they just gave the Titans a billion dollar stadium. They’ve publicly stated that.
The Rays are not going anywhere. Nashville will only be an expansion franchise, not a relocation city. The expansion franchise fee is est somewhere between $1.5-$1.7 billion, which is more than what the Rays value is as a team ($1.25 billion). MLB would get more money out of an expansion fee.
I live in Williamson County TX (which is the northern Austin suburbs) & id love to have a team in Austin. I think it’d be better to have a team somewhere in Williamson County, preferably round rock ,Georgetown, hutto or liberty hill.
The problem in Oakland isn't the stadium it's the poor play and ownership. When the A's were winning the fans turned out, when the team started throwing games it was like a plague was in the stadium.
Buffalo would be suited to get Rays to relocate to the Queen City in Western New York where they would become the Bisons where they would have a cross border rivalry with the Toronto Blue Jays in the American League East and also face their interstate rivals New York Yankees
Rays are unlikely to move and Nashville has a ton of contractual problems plus massive money for the Titans already. Neither Nashville or Charlotte will get MLB teams. Charlotte will need to build a new NFL stadium soon. The Rays are still likely staying in St. Pete.
Couple of comments: I think the A’s and Angels should move out of California. They are both competing with the Dodgers, Giants, Padres, and California politics. For Florida, baseball is tough because the state is basically transplants. How many times have we seen teams like the Yankees, Mets, Red Sox, Phillies, and Cubs come to town and the majority of these low capacity crowds are fans of those said teams? Nashville and Salt Lake City should be considered for expansion but host MLB neutral-site games to truly test the markets and see if it’s worth it.
Rays is a horrible name when they mean sunrays . They should go back to the manta ray type of ray. They should have just been the manta rays to start instead of that stupid devil ray which no one has ever heard of. And Stars is a name that is just as bad. You’re not gonna convince Braves fans to follow some Johnny come lately team with a stupid name like rays or stars.
As much as I want to see NC get an expansion, I heard the public funds will tie up with the Panthers getting a whole new stadium. So as appealing as they may be as a market, Charlotte/Raleigh may be a non-starter. There may be a lot of validity with the Rays move to Nashville and the subsequent rebrand. Far too many boomers down in that part of Florida and a lions share of them already have allegiances to the teams up north, spring training reinforces that bond every season. Pretty much everyone born after 1990 in Florida isn't into baseball that much unless they are of Latin American origin, and they use the internet instead of going to actual games. I'm uncertain if the Marlins are going to move without a full refund to the taxpayers with interest. Perhaps if the Rays make good on their Nashville move, the Marlins will switch to the AL so they could pull the target audience they're seeking. After the A's move to Vegas, my money is on Montreal and San Antonio.
NL WEST Giants Dodgers Diamondbacks Padres Cubs Brewers Cardinals Royals AL WEST Angels Mariners A's Rockies Twins White Sox Astros Rangers NL EAST Marlins Mets Phillies Braves Expos Pirates Reds Nationals AL EAST Blue Jays Red Sox Yankees Orioles Guardians Tigers Rays Carolina Aviators Top team in each division gets a bye to the Division series. Second place teams have home advantage in the Wildcard series against the third place team from the other division in the league. You can switch back the Royals and Rockies if you want but I'm sure the Royals have always wanted to be in a division with the Cardinals and the Rockies would have a new rivalry with the A's in Vegas. If you split each division list in half you can have 8 divisions but I don't like the thought of devaluing a pennant by having 8 of them each season.
@@leocioffi7032 Providence has baseball history. They won two National League pennants. It's got more people than Jacksonville and Salt Lake too. I think they could support one major sports team and baseball makes the most sense. Their proximity to Boston means I wouldn't like them to get more than one team though. I would like to see pro sports teams be restructured so more cities get one or two pro teams in a similar way to how Green Bay has an NFL team. Louisville would be a good destination for an NBA team. Many small Canadian cities get NHL teams. Providence get a baseball team. This is better than the current way where cities like Phoenix get every team but the passion isn't there for hockey and baseball for example. In fact, I don't think any American city with the possible exception of New York should have two NHL teams. It makes more sense to grow the game by giving more cities one NHL team. Los Angeles isn't great for football either so it would be for the best that one team moves to a place where people have more passion(the Chargers shouldn't have left San Diego). Basketball isn't that popular in New York so having the Nets move to a different city would be better as well. Nashville seems to be linked to getting an expansion team in every sport but I think this would be a mistake. There aren't enough people for 5 teams(including MLS) especially when some teams won't be performing as well. They don't support the teams they already have that well as is.
The Marlins' bad ownership over the years and not keeping popular players has soured people in South Florida. People do come out for the World Baseball Classic.
Let's be real, it's not Florida that's the problem. It's the horrible branding and dysfunctional ownership. The Rays brand is garbage and their stadium is garbage. The Marlins are perennial basement dwellers and their branding is mediocre at best. No real identity.
Well they don’t have renderings of a new translucent roof
3 things could happen with the Angels. 1. Major Renovation with a ballpark village. 2. New Ballpark in same location with an eventual ballpark village. 3. Relocate to Long Beach to a new ballpark keeping the Los Angeles Angels name.
Long Beach would have been great but no. With OC Vibe coming to Honda Center, they’ll probably build a new stadium in the existing parking lots.
If the Marlins move. The Miami Hurricanes should play in Loan Depot park as their stadium and change up the seating.
That's a great idea. Convert it like Turner field. They might have enough room to put other UM sports complexes inside of it as well.
Rather have the Marlins move than the Panthers.
That'd be awesome!
it could work but i would completly gut the inside and have the field run from the window to where the 1st base dougout is.
No way the Angels move to Englewood. Yea, lets move to a hard to get to area by the Airport.

Marlins stay in Miami

Nashville gets an expansion.
This makes the most sense. St Pete has shown they do not deserve the Rays. Move them to Orlando (or Tampa).

marlins have a lease until 2047
These are my thoughts:
Marlines have lease until 2047. how come no one bothers to fact check anything anymore
What about Montreal getting another mlb team
Why repeat failure?
@@Orlando_Steve Washington failed twice. Give Montreal good ownership and they'll support a new team.
Tell him Marlins not going anywhere STAYING IN FLORIDA
What if things don't get any better, in fact even worse, in the next 5, 10 or more years?

Angels aren’t moving out of Orange County. Very populated and beloved to the Angels. Top 12 in attendance even with losing records the past years. This just shows you know very little of the Southern California area.
Are you aware that the Utah legislature has passed bills to pay for a baseball stadium AND a hockey arena. $900 million for each one?
Attendance would never be problematic.
Ducks just signed a 50 year lease. So that ain't happening

As a reds fan a team in Nashville could be a natural rival for the reds

Bring MLB to San Antonio !
Angels historically have drawn well
I hope this is true about both the Rays and Marlins moving.
Anaheim did not care and , of course, the name California was adopted.
so does this mean that you are 100% guaranteeing that the A's are moving to Vegas?
1) Charlotte
2) Austin
3) Salt Lake City
4) Orlando
5) Nashville
6) Raleigh-Durham
White Soxs move to Nashville, Rays stay and are sold, Miami Stays. Utah and Portland get expansions.
All the angels need is a new serious owner that really wants to win.
They're not going to let both Florida teams move out of the state. 1 leaves Florida, sure. 1 leaves the state and the other moves to Orlando, maybe. Both leave Florida, no
What I think happens is the Marlins leave Florida and MLB vetoes anything from St. Pete to force the Rays to either move to Tampa or Orlando (as a Rays fan, I'd honestly be fine with either at this point just not St. Pete since it's not sustainable). University of Miami takes over Loan Depot Park and does a huge renovation to make it a football stadium that can also host soccer (won't host UM soccer but is available for pro soccer games)
Tampa Bay's issue in the playoff game was 1 location and the fact that they gave us both weekday day games and people can't take off work on such a short notice.

That makes NO sense for the angels moving. They will never move to LA.. YOU need to know the geography of SoCal to understand their options.
The Miami dolphins can take Home Depot park in Miami.

I'd prefer 4 divisions 8 in each.
There is talk when MLB Expands we may get Regional Realignment and no more AL or NL it would be East vs West have to see .
That would be awful
If the Rays can’t get the deal done in St. Petersburg i could see them attempting to move to Orlando or Nashville. I don’t see the Marlins within the next 10 moving maybe the next 20. The city of Miami won’t let them leave till Loan Depot Park is fully paid off.
Ginger I am a big fan of yours but you are completely wrong about the angels leaving Anaheim
Salt Lake City and Las Vegas
I highly doubt the Angels will leave the Los Angeles market. I do think that the Angels leaving Anaheim is a strong possibility. I would keep an eye on Long Beach making a strong push to have the Angels move there it has been talked about before and I know there is an interest on Long Beach’s part.
The Angels are in the 2nd largest media market. If they move it will be within that market
The Athletics could play at their spring training site in AZ
"IF" the Angels get bad?!?!?
If the angels move i think they should go back to the California Angels Moniker
Can't believe Charlotte or Raleigh, both areas larger than either Salt Lake City or Nashville, weren't mentioned.
Humidity!
@@danielburt7849 Never stopped the Braves.
Buffalo would be suited to get Rays to relocate to the Queen City in Western New York where they would become the Bisons where they would have a cross border rivalry with the Toronto Blue Jays in the American League East and also face their interstate rivals New York Yankees
lol the Marlins have a lease agreement until 2052 that they aren’t going to break do some research instead of just making a random video
Rays are unlikely to move and Nashville has a ton of contractual problems plus massive money for the Titans already. Neither Nashville or Charlotte will get MLB teams. Charlotte will need to build a new NFL stadium soon. The Rays are still likely staying in St. Pete.
I think the marlins moving has zero chance of ever happening
a lot of people in Portland would like to get one of those teams. Don't see it happening.
Montreal and Vancouver
Couple of comments:
I think the A’s and Angels should move out of California.

Top team in each division gets a bye to the Division series.
Santa Cruz and Providence
Providence?
Lmao!!! Inglewood is landlocked now. Like the guy said, unless they dig up the cemetery or knock down homes. You are hilarious.
Outside of spring training Florida was wrong for MLB.
Charlotte or Raleigh. From DC to Tampa there’s only one team and that is the Braves. That is a huge void vs the rest of the country.
Marlins ownership would sooner blow too much money on their roster to hope for a playoff team than move
Florida not liking baseball boggles my mind...closest state to the Cuba, DR and PR
Well this needs an update
Tulsa needs a major league team

What if the Miami dolphins moved to that stadium in Miami?
I think Miami would relocate to Orlando and then go back to being the Florida Marlins
if they aren't going to put 3 teams in Florida why would they put three in Texas
Why Tampa Never Moved to Tampa has always made me wonder
Money, Tampa is not spending taxpayer money on a stadium.
But Orlando will.
@@BlackSaiyan24 Isn't there a group in Orlando right now wanting an expansion or buy a team?
