Lux has had plenty of chances and is a mediocre hitter who can barely make a decent throw to Freddie half the time. Muncy didn’t get a hit in the world series and Nolan will have better defense than both of those guys. If the cards throw in 20 mil for a few prospects it’s a good deal.

It really bugs me to see players like Max and Taylor who have obvious deficiencies in their swings and year after year they come back with the same o'l s---.Max trying to hit 800' homers and always striking out so much and never learning how to hit the other way, and his defense, although better last year is average at best and Taylor, his upper cut swing has more holes than the local cat house. Max hasn't been on the field much the last few years and his humpty dumpty pudgy body isn't going to age well either. Nolan is an animal and in my estimation the Dodgers would be better with Nolan. Well all I can say is that St Louis had better plan on eating a HUGE chunk (not just some) of his salary if they want the Dodgers to take Arenado off of their hands. Will it happen? Only if St Louis does eat salary. But then what do we do with Muncy? His only other positions are 2nd and 1st. I would rather see Muncy then Gavin Lux just based on the plate discipline and power than Muncy offers compared to Lux. Since Muncy recovered from his back issue, he was much better at the plate and his defense has been decent. And he has always been able to draw walks. Dodgers better proceed carefully on this or it could lead to big issues with the chemistry of the team. Arenado may be motivated and a return home may do him well... We'll see...🔥🔥🔥
Why is everybody so quick to trade Tony Gonsolin. He's a starting pitcher. We kind of need those as we are going to a six-man rotation. Tony is a relatively inexpensive option in that role and he has been an All Star. And Dodger pitching people say he looks to be in good shape so why throw away a good pitcher historically with the Dodgers for some unproven rookie out of the minors. Miller is going to have to rebound BIG TIME to get another chance or he will be traded or kept in the minors. People who say Arenado is washed don't really know baseball. I remember years ago when Carlos Beltran had 2 bad years in a row with S.F. because he was hurt. Then became a FA and i was saying the Dodgers should sign him because he was elite before injuries. The Cardinals signed him instead and then had a bounce back year and crushed the Dodgers in the playoffs that year.
I’d make that deal. Gimme good dudes that care about the sport & work on all aspects of their game to improve. Freddie is like that. I think we’ll lose Muncy in the trade though for the salary relief. Lux is cheaper & 7 years younger than Max.
He had a chance to be traded the past two years, now that the Dodgers won the WS he wants the easy route to the championships even to the point of throwing Muncy, who has taken team friendly deals and has great clubhouse presence, under the bus. I don't want him, but if AF takes him in anyway then it better be cheap af and not at the expense of Muncy and EVEN CT3 (he's in his last year, it'll be demoralizing if you kick a respected veteran like him).
The Cardinals haven’t been wiling to eat as much of Arenado’s contract it would take to trade him prior to this year. Arenado has a no-trade clause and he wasn’t telling the Cards he wanted to be traded. It was the Cards who went to Arenado asking him to waive his no-trade clause. Arenado gave the cards a short list of teams he would agree to be traded to either the Dodgers at the top of that list, with the Angels also on that list because he’s from SoCal and wants to return. If a player can control where they are traded, why wouldn’t any player want to get traded to the Dodgers even if the Dodgers hadn’t won the Series.

For example, the most Teo ever made before the Dodgers signed him was $14M with Seattle and $10.7M his last year with the jays. So, the Dodgers stepped up big time last year and signed him for $23.5M with $1M of that paid up front as a signing bonus and $8.5M deferred over 10 years. So, Teo has a good year and the Dodgers offer him $25M/yr for 3 years, which is at the high end of what he’s looking for. The Dodgers offer has a signing bonus in the same proportion as they paid last year ($3-4M) and deferred money in the same proportion as well ($9-$10M per year). But Teo wants a “big” signing bonus and no deferred money. So, while there isn’t a gap on salary, the gap is how those guaranteed millions will be paid….and this is from a guy who cried at the victory parade proclaiming he wants to be a Dodger. Also, Teo is making a stance on no deferrals when every veteran in the line-up has contracts with deferred money. That is an example of where the average working person isn’t out of line for viewing that as greed.

Arenado didn’t sign with the Cardinals, he was traded to St. Louis from Colorado before the 2021 season started. He was drafted by Colorado and played 7 seasons for them until he was traded. Colorado signed him to his current in 2019 and it runs through 2027. Arenado has never been a free agent. BTW - Arenado wasn’t / isn’t asking to be traded. The Cardinals approached Arenado about waiving his no-trade cause so they could trade him. There are only a few teams he would agree to be traded to with the Dodgers being at the top of his list. If any player could control where they are traded to, why wouldn’t they put the Dodgers at the top of their list…even if the Dodgers hadn’t won the Series. If a trade isn’t made, he still has a contract to play for St. Louis that pays him $32M next season. So, it’s not Arredondo begging to be traded; it is the Cards who are looking to move him as part of their retooling move. If the Dodgers deal for him, the Cards are gong to have to eat a lot of his salary over the next 3 years. So, the Dodgers wouldn’t be taking on a $32M salary for 2024, but something far less than that. So, the Dodgers are looking at this deal as taking on a $12-$15M salary or maybe less depending on how hard a deal they can bargain for (if they even want to go down that road).

No. We cant have all of the line up as high salary players. Muncy played 2nd only when there wasnt a no shift rule. The fact that he said he is willing to play anywhere does not mean he can play anywhere. It’s not like a video game or OOTP where you can just move players around the diamond just because their positions are “open”. Not only that, but we also dont need any change in the leadership group in the clubhouse. Arenado’s presence is going to be like a leader, which we already have 4-5 guys who took the role. Arenado started to have back problems. Believe me, 2025 Lux is going to be better than 2025 Arenado unless he goes to somewhere like Astros or Red Sox that has RHH friendly parks.

Arenado is 34, with a cratering OPS. He's a 2.5-WAR player now, and his defense is a shadow of what it once was. What possible value would he have for the Dodgers? For all his warts, Muncy is a far more valuable player than Arenado at this point. He posted a WAR of 3 last year, in half the games of Arenado. Unless the Cardinals are willing to give him away and eat most of his salary, I don't see value here for LA.

Well all I can say is that St Louis had better plan on eating a HUGE chunk (not just some) of his salary if they want the Dodgers to take Arenado off of their hands. Will it happen? Only if St Louis does eat salary. But then what do we do with Muncy? His only other positions are 2nd and 1st. I would rather see Muncy then Gavin Lux just based on the plate discipline and power than Muncy offers compared to Lux. Since Muncy recovered from his back issue, he was much better at the plate and his defense has been decent. And he has always been able to draw walks. Dodgers better proceed carefully on this or it could lead to big issues with the chemistry of the team. Arenado may be motivated and a return home may do him well... We'll see...🔥🔥🔥
Why is everybody so quick to trade Tony Gonsolin. He's a starting pitcher. We kind of need those as we are going to a six-man rotation. Tony is a relatively inexpensive option in that role and he has been an All Star. And Dodger pitching people say he looks to be in good shape so why throw away a good pitcher historically with the Dodgers for some unproven rookie out of the minors. Miller is going to have to rebound BIG TIME to get another chance or he will be traded or kept in the minors. (Maybe DFA'd) Maybe they could tell the Cards they have to take Chris Taylor and his contract, pay less of Arenado's contract and that would help both teams, 🔥🔥🔥

If we can get Arenado and keep Muncy, I’m 1000% in, that would just mean Lux is gone. If it’s Muncy+another player for Arenado I’m not as fond of the idea but I think I would be ok with that also. I just think Muncy is kind of the heart of the team rn he it would be a big loss but not insurmountable

People who say Arenado is washed don't really know baseball. I remember years ago when Carlos Beltran had 2 bad years in a row with S.F. because he was hurt. Then became a FA and i was saying the Dodgers should sign him because he was elite before injuries. The Cardinals signed him instead and then had a bounce back year and crushed the Dodgers in the playoffs that year.

He had a chance to be traded the past two years, now that the Dodgers won the WS he wants the easy route to the championships even to the point of throwing Muncy, who has taken team friendly deals and has great clubhouse presence, under the bus. I don't want him, but if AF takes him in anyway then it better be cheap af and not at the expense of Muncy and EVEN CT3 (he's in his last year, it'll be demoralizing if you kick a respected veteran like him).
The Cardinals haven’t been wiling to eat as much of Arenado’s contract it would take to trade him prior to this year. Arenado has a no-trade clause and he wasn’t telling the Cards he wanted to be traded. It was the Cards who went to Arenado asking him to waive his no-trade clause. Arenado gave the cards a short list of teams he would agree to be traded to either the Dodgers at the top of that list, with the Angels also on that list because he’s from SoCal and wants to return. If a player can control where they are traded, why wouldn’t any player want to get traded to the Dodgers even if the Dodgers hadn’t won the Series.

For example, the most Teo ever made before the Dodgers signed him was $14M with Seattle and $10.7M his last year with the jays. So, the Dodgers stepped up big time last year and signed him for $23.5M with $1M of that paid up front as a signing bonus and $8.5M deferred over 10 years. So, Teo has a good year and the Dodgers offer him $25M/yr for 3 years, which is at the high end of what he’s looking for. The Dodgers offer has a signing bonus in the same proportion as they paid last year ($3-4M) and deferred money in the same proportion as well ($9-$10M per year). But Teo wants a “big” signing bonus and no deferred money. So, while there isn’t a gap on salary, the gap is how those guaranteed millions will be paid….and this is from a guy who cried at the victory parade proclaiming he wants to be a Dodger. Also, Teo is making a stance on no deferrals when every veteran in the line-up has contracts with deferred money.
This is where I say to any player in Teo’s situation (and I think the OG would agree with me)….Dude has already won the lottery of life big time but he wants the money paid as soon as possible. That is an example of where the average working person isn’t out of line for viewing that as greed.
I hate hearing that players want to return or play for the team that they grew up, loving. If he loved LA so much he would’ve never signed that extension in Colorado would’ve became a free agent and signed with LA.

If he really loved L.A., Arrenado wouldn't bring a declining self to the team that he supposedly loves. He would have signed a couple years ago when he was a free agent if he really wanted to be a Dodger. I'm not buying it. He chose the Cards. Live with it.
Arenado didn’t sign with the Cardinals, he was traded to St. Louis from Colorado before the 2021 season started. He was drafted by Colorado and played 7 seasons for them until he was traded. Colorado signed him to his current in 2019 and it runs through 2027. Arenado has never been a free agent.
BTW - Arenado wasn’t / isn’t asking to be traded. The Cardinals approached Arenado about waiving his no-trade cause so they could trade him. There are only a few teams he would agree to be traded to with the Dodgers being at the top of his list. If any player could control where they are traded to, why wouldn’t they put the Dodgers at the top of their list…even if the Dodgers hadn’t won the Series. If a trade isn’t made, he still has a contract to play for St. Louis that pays him $32M next season. So, it’s not Arredondo begging to be traded; it is the Cards who are looking to move him as part of their retooling move. If the Dodgers deal for him, the Cards are gong to have to eat a lot of his salary over the next 3 years. So, the Dodgers wouldn’t be taking on a $32M salary for 2024, but something far less than that. So, the Dodgers are looking at this deal as taking on a $12-$15M salary or maybe less depending on how hard a deal they can bargain for (if they even want to go down that road).

No. We cant have all of the line up as high salary players. Muncy played 2nd only when there wasnt a no shift rule. The fact that he said he is willing to play anywhere does not mean he can play anywhere. It’s not like a video game or OOTP where you can just move players around the diamond just because their positions are “open”. Not only that, but we also dont need any change in the leadership group in the clubhouse. Arenado’s presence is going to be like a leader, which we already have 4-5 guys who took the role. Arenado started to have back problems. Believe me, 2025 Lux is going to be better than 2025 Arenado unless he goes to somewhere like Astros or Red Sox that has RHH friendly parks.
No need to trade Lux. He can play 2B, SS, or OF. Our infield would also be fairly old, so we can't expect them to stay healthy all season.

Arenado is 34, with a cratering OPS. He's a 2.5-WAR player now, and his defense is a shadow of what it once was. What possible value would he have for the Dodgers? For all his warts, Muncy is a far more valuable player than Arenado at this point. He posted a WAR of 3 last year, in half the games of Arenado.
Unless the Cardinals are willing to give him away and eat most of his salary, I don't see value here for LA.
