While I can agree that Hylia worked to "forge the spirit of the hero", the cyclical reincarnation was not part of her plan, that is due to Demise's curse at the end the the game.

Actually I'm pretty sure reincarnation is a natural part of the life cycle of Hyrule as some other characters outside of the cycle like Impa, Beedle, Dampė and Epona are implied to be reincarnations too. Demise curse did not create the reincarnation instead what it did was make sure his incarnation of hatred would always reincarnated at the same time as Link and Zelda.

The whole Demise wanting the triforce thing seems a little complex. We know in this universe that immortals can succumb to wounds, or at least become much weaker because of them. Since he is on par with Hylia without any (known) outside forces boosting his power, he is as strong as or stronger than her. By that logic, and that he created a pocket dimension on the spot when challenging Link, we can assume he is also an immortal. Would he have even been able to use the Triforce? Hylia thought she could use it on him until nothing happened when she tried. Would Demise have met with a similar issue? The first time we see evil touch the Triforce is with Ganondorf, which is basically to Demise as Zelda is to Hylia.
I can see the "but link defeated Demise" comment. He had a lot of outside help beyond all his growth. Not only did he complete the trials and forged the master sword with the three flames, but he also was the first known user of the Triforce. He doesn't just have the mark of Courage, like other games, he has the full mark of the Triforce as well. So we can assume that he was probably getting a big boost.

Let's not forget that this heavily boosted Link only managed to defeat Demise because his resurrection wasn't complete as it took time to fully absorb Hylia's soul. This means that Demise was severely weaker than in his prime or else he would haven obliterated even this enhanced version of Link without much trouble (there's only so much a mortal can do). (which is to be expected of a being who can challenge and effectively threaten the gods themselves)

  • @UnluckySuperstition

All in all I think Hylia's biggest downfall in her careful planning was her hyperfixation on the ultimate destruction of Demise alone. Because yes, as a goddess or mortal being; every other evil seems inferior in comparison, but at the same time not accounting for the potential meddling by those more miniscule evils made the plan fail in the end. and not having the hero also cleanse those other evils with the triforce and instead hyper fix on the biggest threat exclusively, lead to loopholes for undoing that at any point with Hylia's own creations -time gates-.

The natural rules of Nayru only work in 3s. Balance can only be achieved in thirds. So the equation is not balanced simply with Demise and Hylia. The natural world would rebalance itself presenting the spirit of the hero. But who unbalanced the equation itself in then beginning? The 3 goddesses left it perfectly balanced before leaving. I believe Hylia is guilty of the first destabilizing trigger that then cascaded onto the natural world trying to balance itself with demise, etc. That is why she is always portrayed with a guilty conscience in the way she “self sacrifices herself” on every opportunity she has. Example in Skyward sword, twilight princess, ocarina of time, etc.

The triforce pieces are a part of each Golden Goddess' power... That's why other Gods can't use them - it's not their power. Gods of Hyrule have powers of their own so they can't use the power of another God.
Demise is deliberately described as a Demon - not a God - and like his servants, the Bokoblins, shares similarities with Japanese Oni - which despite being powerful and almost invincible, are distinct from Gods, which are more akin to creatures of supernatural power or protection spirits. This means that Demise, despite being powerful in his own right, is not a God.
Ganondorf (and his follower Zant) describe him as a God - but that is after he has claimed the power of one... Din's piece of the Triforce.

Zelda/Hylia says that she believes the gods created the Triforce to give humans hope in their world against gods. Also, if we are taking Hyrule Historia into account, she already had a champion. She needed to remake his reincarnation into the same hero he was when he met his end at the hands of Demise's hoards. He had already remade the master sword by that point as well as gone through years of imprisonment and false accusation and abandonment by his own people who feared his power. In the end comic, Hylia says that the gods put this original Link through all these trials to make him worthy of this. So her plan was to make sure that this hero forged by the gods would always be at her side. The trials weren't for just any human. They were for his reincarnated self to return him to the man he was when he sacrificed everything for people who had turned their backs on him. Though this makes me wonder why Link wasn't allowed access to his memories like Zelda was. Perhaps because Link didn't know about the purpose of the trials he went through in his original lifetime? Or perhaps because she needed to be sure his reincarnation was just as much of a hero as his previous form. Idk.
It truly is a master plan, though. This video reminded me of the quote from Ender's Game, where someone asks Ender why he beat up this bully of his so badly. He responded white simply that he "didn't just need to win this one battle, but every battle to come." He was effectively destroying his opponent's motivation to ever come at him again, beating him so badly that the bully would never dare cross him. It's that same logic that led to he creation of the atomic bomb and to much of the cold war. We (I'm in the US, but this goes for the Western world at large) needed to make as sure as we could that we won not just this battle or war, but all others to come.

The HH itself and the manga in the back are not equal. The Hyrule Historia was an attempt to compile the lore into one book. Not a perfect job, but decent work. None of the mangas are officially canon, especially since some of them such as TP and OoT that I know of contradict the games themselves, but theyre still great stories. Point is the champion from the age of Hylia in the SS manga isnt canon unfortunately, but it's still cool

I am curious if you have heard my theory on the "goddess war". Basically Hyrule was created to settle an argument between the three golden goddesses...without two of them knowing at first. Remember demise came out of the EARTH....and which goddess made the earth? Din...Demise's reincarnation looks a LOT like the human version of din. I think Din was angry with her two sisters and rigged MULTIPLE realms to have conflicts, having the idea of "might makes right" she was angry with having courage and wisdom(the other two) stop her from doing what ever she wanted, and since they likely couldn't fight each other...each goddess picked a representative to fight in their stead. If I am right...its not just Hyrule...but lorule, the world from majoras mask, and many more untold worlds are the battlefield. ONLY when one side is completely defeated does that world end(demise made it so he can not lose because he reincarnates constantly). What do you think?

Could this explain that botw zelda tapped into the power of the full triforce remotely, by her having all the 3 virtues? It seems like she doesn’t have the actual pieces since the knowledge of the relics seem to have been lost knowledge in that era since her power was referred to the sealing power.
Also in age of calamity it seemed like she does have the full triforce because terrako revived in response to her wish of protecting everyone. And made her wish possible in another reality. But it’s just odd that her wish worked without having to physically touch it.

It’s been a while! Yes this plan is DEFINITELY one that I have seen. I love seeing the full explanation in this video. Well…most of it. Hylia is lesser than Din, Nayru, and Farore. So she likely needs more than they do to replicate such intricate magic. Namely basis.
Link I believe I have said this in the past but not sure on this channel, is more akin to an angel. A soldier of a god/goddess. For Link to be reincarnated, this entire plan had to involve one other. Someone to base it off of. Hylia likely met a worthy Soldier/Hero in her time walking the earth in her divine form. Which was before BOTH times explored in Skyward Sword. This is likely when the Goddess Sword was made and Fi registered her new master. He likely faced the horde of Demise and perished without Demise himself seeing him. Spreading the legend of unmatched bravery and strength in this battle and the brain to match. (Likely LESS balanced but most likely the damn closest there had ever been.) That Link had to be used for Fi’s recognition to kick in using his existing spirit and reincarnating him. And this is how she could predict his deeper desires and tendencies so fully. With a sprinkle of extra magic thrown in to complete the balance. This is how she mimicked Farore’s power of creating a being herself to reincarnate.
Likewise, the silent realms are based on the existing world. She likely could not create the silent realms without the basis to mimic Din’s power.
Lastly the puzzles and tests she created were in accordance to Nayru’s law no doubt to create the best servant she could, and thus managing to properly sculpt out permanently worthy souls of the triforce.
However the balance has not been redone. Most Link’s are clueless and meek at 1st even though they always display great courage it always takes time for the hero to get into working shape. And even when they do, that would still create the imbalance with his bias towards Courage in each life. Link of the Sky STARTED with all 3 traits. And only had to prove them to Hylia and the other 3 when the time came.
The ONLY other time the balance has been recreated from what I can tell is the current Princess Zelda. She has ALL 3 traits in this life. The extra time it took her to awaken her magic likely came from this being the case. However it is unknown as to why SHE is the balanced one now. And Link of the Wild actually does NOT get his piece for his lifetime and likely why he could not properly hold his own against Calamity Ganon’s return. And with the sequel as is, I think we may see the return of Ganondorf, but also in time Demise’s return. And as I’ve discussed before, Demise is actually balanced in not the traits themselves but in others being the OPPOSITE of the blessings. Thus creating the conditions of a worthy holder in a corrupted way. And I’ve got a hunch that is why Hylia made this Zelda be the balanced one. Maybe also because the Master Sword is not what it once was even with the trial of the sword completed. So the angel is not as reliable of a user this time.

Great video, it's the same understanding i had as well. Though i don't agree with the "remote use" part, evidence in TP implies they're bearing the pieces. Here are some side notes:
The Light Force isn't Hylia's power, right? Ezlo explicitly confirms in Minish Cap that the Minish gifted the Hero of Man with the Light Force and Picori Blade. The Light Force wasn't even being held within the female royalty originally, the Hero of Man had it and used it and the blade to seal all monsters in the box. Then it ended up within the veins of female royalty. Probably because the hero is always loyal to Hylia's incarnations, gifting her the Light Force.
Something else, the Triforce in WW didn't split again, it remained split from OoT. It was never pieced together since the Triforce of Power was sealed along with Ganondorf in the void of the Evil Realm. The Triforce of Wisdom was passed down in the royal family, later being split in two and the Triforce of Courage was fragmented and hidden away by Link before being sent to the child timeline. The Triforce in TP did though, because Link in OoT grabbed the child timeline Triforce of Courage to prove his story to Zelda as seen at the very end of OoT, fragmenting and leaving behind the adult timeline Triforce of Courage back in the adult timeline as said in WW. In TP they're stated to be chosen by the gods, further implying it split again in TP as per the bearer lore. This explains the Triforce of Power randomly choosing Ganondorf, it had already been split by OoT Link and chose bearers with the most horrible timing possible.

At the foot of the goddess statue in the Temple of Time within BotW there is a depiction of a single triangle. This means that single triangle imagery is relevant to the goddess. The video doesn't cover the issue i proposed, but you also pointed out the issue and said you'd cover that exact issue in another video eventually, so I'll have to wait for that video.
Something else to note: Since MC takes place after SS, that'd mean that Zelda would've lost her powers at some point after SS, them ending up in the hands of the minish in the shape of the Light Force (a golden triangle, fitting since we've seen that other gods were able to make golden triangles from their Life Force) and later passed to the Hero of Man/Zelda.

Ganondorf being a reincarnation of Demise would only work if he was that in the same way Link is in possession of the hero's spirit. Hylia herself also does not reincarnate, she only incarnated once. The Zeldas that come after SS Zelda/Hylia are der descendants, of her blood.
Demise's body was destroyed, his hatred and rage (malice) would later become incarnate as per the parameters of his curse, and his remaining consciousness was sealed inside the Master Sword to decay over time.
Technically speaking, Link is the only one who actually reincarnated. Speaking of Link, has anyone noticed that in each game, Link is manipulated/groomed to take a certain path? If the other side were to get to him first, the game would be vastly different.
Hylia's initial grooming of Link, and the royals' doing of the same thereafter would be far more difficult and less foolproof if Hylia's descendants weren't the rulers of Hyrule. Going through so much effort to keep a single individual loyal to you...that's nuts lol. Demise's curse makes it easier for them in some ways, and more difficult in others.

So about the Triforce pairing theory, that would explain why the mark appeared on Zelda's hand in BotW and AoC when she uses her power-she attained a balance of the three virtues and is worthy of using the complete Triforce herself (Edit: Note: I'm not saying her power is that of the Triforce itself-in fact Hylia's reincarnation may have been unable to use her goddess powers until her journey across the surface, where she acquired the required balance to be worthy of the Triforce by praying at the two springs that represent the two virtues she was relatively weak in, Courage and Power, where she also gained the memories of her life before her reincarnation.) In Twilight Princess, the wording used regarding the power that dwells within Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf may imply that they are simply bonded to their respective Triforce pieces and don't actully possess the relics themselves, meaning that along with the Sacred Realm being untouched, the Triforce was not split in the Child Era timeline. However, A Link Between Worlds explicitly states the Triforce was split in A Link Between Worlds, and it is reassembled after Link defeats Yuga and Hilda returns him and Zelda to Hyrule.

    • @Zeldom
      @Zeldom  2 роки тому

Yes exactly! I also am confident Zelda's power in Breath of The Wild and Age of Calamity isn't the Triforce despite that mark on her hand for the reasons we showed in the video. Regarding ALBW you may be right. I'm not sure exactly where you mean that it's "explicitly stated" to be split but you may be correct on that if you're referencing the Triforce timeline in the encyclopedia. What Pixel's line of thought was that it may actually be split in the Sacred Realm and would thence be channeling their power from the Sacred Realm. In a discussion I had with Cornelius he wanted to go with the idea that when the sages summon the Triforce of Courage for Link in ALBW that he merely pairs with it instead of taking the physical thing. I think it makes some sense for this to be a case of pairing because after Yuga is defeated Link would physically wield the pieces if they we physically possessed, however we don't see this happen. Instead in Cornelius' video we went with that when Link took access to all 3 pieces the Triforce unified itself together again in the Sacred Realm. Idk how much this makes sense bc I'm not giving the entire discussion we had, but it was a cool idea for that video. Afterall it's just a theory... A GAME THEORY 😉

Edit(s): In fact, Link is given the Triforce of Courage piece itself by the sages and Zelda is shown to possess the Triforce of Wisdom when Hilda steals it. As for the Triforce not reassembling when Link has all the pieces, it's beacuse he's not in Hyrule proper or the Sacred Realm. In Skyward Sword, the Triforce assembles only after Link leaves the Silent Realm upon claiming the last Triforce piece. It's not confirmed wether the silent realm becomes or is the Sacred Realm, however.

@@Zeldom Of course it isn't the Trifroce. She was uncertain of herself, she made so many mistakes and she certainly didn't possess or embody power. The power she uses is Hylia's power, it's the same power that every Zelda has used when they didn't have the trifroce of wisdom. ALTTP it was telepathy, Minish Cap it was the light force. It's the power of Hylia's blood.

@@chrispork1443 Oh it definitely is, notice how where the triforce pieces dwell there is a golden hue. i'm certain that the silent realm is actually the golden land described of in ALTTP.

I wonder why the gods would create the tri force but not be able to use it themselves

We don't know for sure. In the game even Hylia/Zelda said she's not certain, but her theory is that is was to "give hope" to all mortals. Doesn't really make sense though since all the existence of the relic has meant for Hyrule is war 😂

Hylia the Goddess of Time & Light did what was proper to defeat the one who is said to have conquered Time itself.
The Bringer of Demise vs. Hylia the Triforce's Guardian would always end in a stalemate.
An Evil God AKA a Demon King or Devil was actually able to INJURE a Divine Golden Goddess.
Demise injured Hylia while Hylia deformed & deposed Demise.
But that injury is how Demise conquered Time itself or Hylia HERSELF.
So Hylia the Goddess of Time had to look beyond all times to rectify this injury & mock Demise's "conquering".
And who did she use to do this? The lowliest of beings, the Humans, Hylia's Humans...the Hylians.
Gorons are strong & tough as hell. No need to protect them that much.
Parellas AKA proto-Zoras have those waters to shelter in alongside a fierce Water Dragon. They're fine.
Mogmas are crafty tunnel diggers & can escape harm inside the Earth. They'll do just fine.
Kikwis have the ability to camouflage & hide inside the environment. They'll survive.
Ancient Robots are literally made of metal. No need to babysit them.
Sheikahs are Humans blessed by the sight of Goddess Hylia. Anointed Enhanced Humans. They can hold their own.
It is only the ones who were 'mewling & praying, screaming & clinging' to their Goddess who needed protection.
Who better to return the insult & injury to Demise, who better to make a Paragon out of than one who is like this?
Even Demise's avatars like Ganondorf, the big tall strong Gerudo, have to deal with this mere child or short young man having his number each & every time. That's GOT to be frustrating!
Hylia used the love of her reincarnation Zelda to start turning the cycle, the curse in HER favor.
Link was just a lovestruck schoolboy but his spirit protects The Surface, Hyrule, & the Kingdom of Hyrule for all time.
    Who conquered WHAT now, Demise?

Fi is to blame here, she explicitly instructs link to wish for the Destruction of Demise. Apparently that translates to a dropping a building on him and calling it a day.

Wrong! The Triforce was never meant to split & Link was never supposed to have just 1 part of it!

Splitting is a defense mechanism so yes it was meant to split to stop someone unworthy from obtaining it.
