Well-said dude. Am post-2017 player, and you have put to words why the hell I play on community servers exclusively. Making the experience for the actual players making up that player numbers better seems like a lower priority than adding cashgrab content. To quote a great youtube comment I saw elsewhere but can't find:
"Which one would you like for Christmas?
    - 50 vscript maps, plus 20 new hats
    - F2P have comms again"

The best 300 days to play TF2 were after September 24, 2015 when they added "Extend Map Time" vote to the vote menu. The biggest issue back then was that the map's weren't played long enough. 45 minutes turned into 4 hours of 2Fort on Valve servers and every moment of it was great. It was very well received change. How they got an idea to completely scrap this crowd favorite is completely inconceivable.

I was really skeptical when I discovered your channel but goddamn man you speak the truth raw and the way it really makes me feel when matchmaking came in. I was actually a pretty avid player in 2013, then came back in 2015 and 16, but then the matchmaking update dropped and I just could NOT stand it. I kept playing when jungle inferno dropped and they made it a bit more bearable, but it was still just complete shit, EVERY game a stomp. Endless waiting for maps I used to play all the time by just scrolling through the servers, servers emptying themselves after reloading and never being filled up. I had this bizarre hope that if I rated every match I was in 1 star eventually valve would see the negative reaction to this fucking awful bullshit system and revert it back to quickplay, or actually not even that, just let me pick the server I want with the map I want without waiting.
I only kept playing to see the little dopamine meter go up, and once I made it and filled it up there was just no point to it anymore. TF2 is not as fun anymore. I can only play payload, I can only play a couple attack defense maps, capture points is unbearable, king of the hill is annoying, alternate gamemodes are DESERTED. I used to play Hydro quite a bit, I LIKED hydro, I LIKED asteroid. I LIKED ctf games where people either didn't beat it in 2 seconds or just REFUSED to cap because they treat it as if it's deathmatch.
I really hope your channel takes off because that's the voice of the people right there. The same way some asshole at Valve wormed his way in to RUIN the game, so should someone on Our side eventually get in and maybe convince Valve to bring Quickplay back. Revert everything back to pre-meet your match. Leave the game alone and Let the players figure it out from there.

@@12omle You can find old yt videos of it but simply put:
      -You select game mode
-Wait for it to search the best available servers
      -Load map and play
All that shit in like under 20 seconds (may be slightly longer depending on where you're from but even then it's faster than this)
The only nice thing i can say about matchmaking is that you can select your favorite maps but that's about it.

I will copy a comment i made about the subject.
"well. the real player count is like ~60k. the sudden drop been happening for years. who knows. if they are bot account getting banned or something. or trader bots going offline.
I assume when we hit the 250k players in the summer update. i think we got like ~180k real players and maybe 40-50k of them are regular players and not people who jumped in to play the summer update and stayed for few weeks. i don't know about you guys but the bots seem to come in waves. sometime it seem we got non. other day when wave drop. we get ton. but don't get your hope ups yet. i see bots with level over 100 badge. also they seem to be bit less effective for some reason.
the tf2 player count is unhealthy. compare it to the csgo and you will see the csgo one got mount and valleys. tf2 is a line. so you guys either never sleep or like 40k are bot accounts."
my conclusion is derivative from the war owl. he go in detail in his video "The embarrassing TF2 Bot Crisis". in reality. we don't really know but we all sure know half of the players are not real.

once again it's incredible how you're saying the things i've been saying for years. another beacon in the infinite nightmare game we've been left with... i'm going to separate this into a couple comments so that hopefully youtube doesn't shadowban it like it did to my other comment.
in the old days of tf2, you could join whatever map you wanted, whatever region you wanted, at any time of day, for any reason. i could say "hey, i want to play ASTEROID, i sure hope i can pick ASTEROID and play ASTEROID... OH MY GOD! LOOK! It's asteroid, i'll play that map.", then DING, click join, i'm in the game. it's full of players and everyone is having fun. or maybe i join, and it's just one team spawncamping or a bunch of cheaters or something, oh well, i have the choice to just leave and join one of the other 10 servers hosting it, WILLY NILLY, ad hoc, whenever i feel like it. before the worst update ever put into this game, players had the choice to play whatever type of game they wanted to. do i want to sweat and try hard and be a hemorrhoid in a sea of hemorrhoids? there were 24/7 tryhard community servers i could join with high level players at any time of day and practice away. do i want to goof off? i can search around for friendly servers or some hightower valve server or whatever and usually goof off like that. do i want to play in virginia, a server location where i always get 1-10 ping because i live MINUTES away from the servers' location, or do i want to play in LA, where the routing is literal garbage and i get like 70-80 ping minimum? Hmm i think i will join this server that says VIRGINIA. Ding! now i'm playing the map i want to play, when i want to play it, in the region i intended to join. NOW i can experience the type of game i booted up tf2 to experience.

    • @Jvizzlezz
      @Jvizzlezz Рік тому +9

but what's it like now? like you said, you load up tf2. you want to play a map that isn't that popular? good luck, lmao, the coordinator is NEVER going to find you a game for that map. you can solo queue your obscure map with nothing else selected for hours at a time, it's not going to happen. even if THOUSANDS of other people are also looking, you're all going to have to get used to staring at the main menu before giving up and playing some other game. you want to play at any time of day? nah, there's so many bots and cheaters infecting the game that if you try to play at any point before 4-5 PM and any time after 11 or so, you will find entire servers filled to the brim with robots and nothing else, assuming the coordinator even finds a single game for you at all. you want to just play whatever random old map? go ahead, select every map in the game, i know you want to play tf2 so go ahead, we'll find something good for you. DUSTBOWL! DUSTBOWL! 2FORT! DUSTBOWL! 2FORT! how lovely... and each queue takes 1-10 minutes for some unexplainable god forsaken reason. then, as you've also said in this video, the map starts, you have to wait 1 or 2 minutes to play, the "MATCH" ends in like 2 minutes, wait in post-game for 1 or 2 minutes, load up the same map for 30 seconds, wait in pre-game for 1-2 minutes... ad infinitum. what do you get out of it? assuming that i don't find any bots or cheaters and the games i play are all fun and fair (here's another point i forgot to bring up -- fun and fairness. remember when players had the choice to just join whatever team they wanted? it's weird how often games would wind up way more fair than they tend to go now, with forced single player autobalancing that NO ONE wants. oh my, this other team is losing. i just want to play the game and have fun so i think i'll join that team so i have more targets to aim at. NOPE! no more "choice" here buddy) in a 5-6 hour session of playing tf2 you might play the actual game for like 1 hour, if even. modern tf2, just like many modern games (and yes i've had this rant with some of my friends before too for other games) are so devoid of actual gameplay that i often wonder what the developers were even THINKING when implementing these sorts of things. it's honestly baffling to imagine the board of directors sitting there and going "hmmm yeah i think our players should play less and have a worse experience for no reason whatsoever, and they will get nothing for it. GENIUS! that will definitely earn us more money"...

    • @Jvizzlezz
      @Jvizzlezz Рік тому +7

in the old days of tf2, you could hop on for 10 hours a day and get 9.5 hours of gameplay. what happened? why did they have to go and ruin it all? who wanted this??????????????? okay honey time to hop on tf2 again, let's see... i want to play harvest, yeah that's a pretty popular map. ping limit 20... Click! oh BOY I CAN'T WAIT TO PLAY THIS GAME. 10 minutes later maybe you finally get put into a game, the suspense is killing me!!!! aaaaaand it's nothing but robots. and it's also an LA server for some reason. Great! this is exactly what i wanted!
i'm sure there's more i could rant about but that's enough for now. yeah modern tf2 sucks. 200000 players apparently, third most popular game on steam, but good luck even finding games at all lol. wonder how that works? in any event, here's an imgur link to my steam review of tf2 that mimics everything i've said and what you have probably also felt for years mister gabber. i'll remove the slashes so hopefully youtube doesn't ALSO shadowban this comment. imgur com a SFuLeBX

Now I play tf2 classic which is a sourcemod that re-imagines the game from 2008/2009 My god......I never want to go back to normal tf2 again it felt like shit since I tried to play..Plus tf2c allows voice chat, and Quickplay is still the same as it was from back then.....and as the cherry on the top of the cake.....No bots, no cheaters, separator, custom servers,no matchmaking/comp and new weapons/updates that matter to tf2 can't say im missing much of normal tf2.

Yo, the most based TF2 UA-camr uploads again and what do you know, he's fucking right once again, and somehow he only less than 1000 subs. What a joke since you should have much more.
You mentioned there being 45 minutes to a round but funny thing is when that round was over the game would just reload the map and it'd be another 45 minutes on whatever map you're on again which was totally fine and people didn't leave because either way they're going to have to deal with a loading screen but if they left they'd have to WASTE more time finding another game and map mode instead of just staying on the server they're currently on. Now it's actually better to leave and queue again for a better and possibly fairer game since no one wants to deal with the shitty "round over, time to vote" phase ALONG with the loading.
All Valve actually needs to do is incorporate some kind of system CSGO had (haven't played 2) where it just shows all the maps in a big box when you pick play and you pick what you want and it'll list off all available servers playing that map and it'll just SEND you to that server and if you don't want to pick a map just have a random map option that's like old quickplay. Split it up into game modes too so it's easier to find stuff.
Fucking baffles me that they rolled out this shitty update but haven't addressed the server browser. That part SHOULD be redesigned because it's like 25 fucking years old at this point and if newer players are somehow so fucking stupid they can't use it (and knowing the tf2 players I've seen....) then make it super easy to use and find.
I can't even PLAY TF2 with an aussie friend of mine because the shit fucking matchmaker just CANNOT find a fucking game at all and hangs on the queue forever which was NEVER a problem when quickplay was around because we'd just pick a valve server playing a map we like on the server browser and join it at the same time and then play on it for hours if we wanted and man I WISH they'd bring that back since it's just easier in general.
    Anyhow, keep up the videos.

matchmaking absolutely sucks, but I think it could be fixed, so if you add back the quickplay server browser, but had it limited to official valve servers, and had that work as it did, but say you dont know what you want to play exactly, like you could go for anything, have the current system of matchmaking, except it finds a random quick play server for you to join, but this is all assuming valve isn't hibernating again.

I think it's stupid that casual has this stupid super long anticipation period for a CASUAL game. Where nobody gives a shit about playing competitively. They tried so hard to give it Esports levels of hype for something that's just another tuesday for most gamers. Most hadn't even clicked on competitive! For god's sake! Nobody gives a shit about these fancy shmancy screens, especially given how the game goes.
Queue for let's say... 2 minutes
    Get payload
Pre-match timer being 1 minute/2 minutes and last 10 seconds there being for the fancy shmancy screen.
Then you get to wait through another timer. If you're Blu; stay afk until the timer runs out. At most you can eat the dalokoh's right before the match starts or build uber. For red; you get to the cart, and stay afk unless ur Engi or Medic.
That's like 5 minutes of doing next to nothing. All to idk, Hype up a match that's just a team deathmatch session.
Don't forget that a lot of tf2 maps are just plain garbage. So add some time you spend manually disabling *all* the maps you don't like. The average player has to put in more work for a decent quality game than Valve ever did for years at this point.
