Hi Vasili, love your work. Re this bed you are adding too: I reckon you used about ten bags for the one side of this bed. Say each bag costs about $10, that’s $100 just to top one side of the bed up. Yes, I understand growing your own healthy food, however things start to become very expensive before one bean is picked.
@@richgarden Yes I get it! It's not a cheap process to start with but the mix will last you a year in the bed. Plus, you don't have to spread it so thick if your soil is in a better state than mine. The team have dropped the price on the bags as well. The triple pack is the best deal, 3 bags for $25 and you can cover around 2m2
@@vasilikanidiadis2251 it's the funniest thing , people will spend hundreds of dollars for the right colored cushions for there couch , they'll spend thousands on the right home dinning setting , hundreds on the right thread bed linen , all of which has very little to zero impact on there health , when it comes to food , the thing that'll have the biggest impact on there health they want the cheapest money can buy , i think we've got it arse about people
It's significantly less expensive to buy materials like that in bulk. Example: I was able to purchase 3 cubic yards that dressed 4 raised beds, 2 60 ft flower beds, and filled 20 15 gal containers for less than $200 including delivery. That garden will feed my family and then some for the year.. so it's definitely more affordable in bulk, and just might be worth it, depending on the priorities and resources of the gardener
@@katelynyoumans340 very true Katie & if you keep the moisture in those beds consistent & keep up with top dressing & mulching aka feeding your soil the soil food web will keep your plants & your family happy , healthy & fed without a need to repurchase anymore soil for years to come , trees have lived for over a hundred yeas with nothing but top dressing from animals as they pass through & falling mulch , although when it comes to spending money be very careful who you give your money to as Vasili has found out , not all garden supply centers & there soil mixes are created equal
I saved some of my own broad beans for the first time this year. Some have already sprouted that must of dropped without me notcing. im hoping to get the rest in this weekend.
What would you fill it with then? I personally will never buy bulk composted soil again. The cheaper the price on the product that you add, the worse the results will be! May as well not garden and donate the money to a reputable charity, cause there's a lot of crap soil being sold out there. The mix will last up to a year.

omg gorgeous colour on that compost!
Thanks mate! 🙂
Vasili. What happens to all the plastic bags you use and sell; coco pith, compost & planting mix?? Need some media that can be recycled or reused.
Could use buckets however one bucket would have more plastic than all these bags... Having said that maybe ask Coca Cola the same thing?
That’s a lot of compost, way too expensive 😊

@@vasilikanidiadis2251 I make my own compost and also have chooks they are marvellous in making more compost. Blood and bone is my other go too. 😀
