Never been to Africa or any where on a plane. Lol I know at 52 yes old, but I have really bad arthritis in both my feet and knees, but I still would love to go. Plz let me know who your travel agent was that helped you.
Proud of you. But you missed the 2,000-square-metre space that hosted the exhibition, entitled "Art of Benin yesterday and today" until May 22, 2022. You could have seen for example the ceremonial throne of King Ghezo (1797-1818), a majestic wooden sculpture almost two metres high, surmounted by a curved tablet. This is part of the 26 returned treasures from the Kingdom of Dahomey. And during your stay there was a month-long celebration of our heritage and art at the Museum of the Marina in Cotonou, attracting large crowds. Visitors enjoy the exhibition overall, and for some, it's quite an emotional experience. In fact, after 130 years, France returned 26 royal pieces from the Danxomè (also called Dahomey) Kingdom under an initiative led by our visionary President TALON. Looted by French soldiers from the kingdom of Dahomey in 1892, this is the first time a former colonizing country returned royal treasures, stolen during colonization... About 1hour drive after Abomey where you were, you can admire mountains, hill and beautiful veg diversity. Northern side is definitely surprising.. And in Cotonou you can actually admire the amazing 30m-height metal statue of a Danxomè amazone. Yes! Our guide Boris who partners with Go Back To Africa was telling us about all of the artifacts that were returned. I’m sure that was incredible. We fit so much into our trip but we were in Benin for 8 days and there’s so much to see and learn. I’ll be back to explore more for sure. I loved every bit of Benin. We’ll be in Togo this October for close to a month.
