- The MG XPower has a problem a vibration and excessive noise at 65mph+, MG won't fix it or find a solution which they've known about for around 12 months and continue to sell them and not advising customers

I have experience working with AC vector motors, particularly in robotic CNC applications. In these systems, all motors require a feedback loop to maintain stability; otherwise, they will oscillate. This process is known as tachometer feedback, gain control, or sometimes response control. It generates a feedback signal to enable closed-loop control of the system.
In situations where there are two sets of motors-such as front and back systems-one may interfere with the other, and the tuning will differ between setups. This can also be the with steering mechanisms. If the gain is set too high, it can cause overshoot; if it's too low, the system will be unresponsive.
A major issue with Chinese robotics is that while the technology and software are often copied from European or American sources, there is little understanding of proper software tuning. Most systems rely on self-tuning software, but if that software isn't properly configured, issues like this are to be expected.
Thinking the MG when cruising should be just using the front motor.

How to tune a servo system?
Here is the basic approach used with step response tuning:
Initialize the I & P terms to zero, and set the D term to a small non-zero value.
Increase P from zero until the system overshoots and shows an underdamped response.
Increase D until the oscillation is 'critically damped'

I picked mine up brand new last week, seems to have this issue. Like driver with an electric sander in your hand ! I dont really do motoway cruise very often so not really a big deal at the mo.its weird i dont notice it accelerating from 0 to 80 just on a cruise. Next time im on the motorway ill try all the different modes se if that makes a difference Hopefully they will find a fix for it and do a recall.. other than that i love it !
Worse combination is cruise 70 sports mode , thats the problem fix has been developed but they refuse to roll it out as it costs about 6k
I have the same issue with the XPower. My dealership, Luscombe Leeds, have been very supportive and submitted a technical report to MG UK back in October 2023. They tried the steering damper and replacing all 4 wheels, to no avail. Still hoping on a recall with 6000 miles on the clock.
I've seen your case and I'm trying for owners to get this sorted, it sounds like the dealer is working for you as MG won't pay for putting it right
Just return the car as unfit for purpose. Well within your rights to given you reported the issues within 6 months of purchase. The more owners full on return them, the more money MG will pour into finding the source of the problem.
Stop trying to push sh*t uphill. Get a solicitor and return the car as not fit for purpose and demand a full refund. This cars got enough problems to be considered a danger to drive.

You bought the wrong car, I've spent years driving extremely fast cars and never experienced a fast/sports car without vibrations. It's all part of the fun. Drive an MG ZS180 and then tell me your car is vibrating, lol!!
I think you should sell your car and get a Nissan Leaf, ive heard they're pretty refined 👍 or perhaps even better, a milkfloat 🤣

Regret buying the car - mate get a grip and just deal with the vibration…it’s really not that big and you’re letting it get to you.
They’re rockets and great fun, focus on the good parts

Exactly, it's positioned as a cheap sports car - people buying £35k sports car that is insane value for money let's not forget, and expecting them to ride like a £200k Bentley.
If a little vibration spoils your fun, you bought the wrong car.

MG have already pre decided it's not a reason for rejection but I really would prefer the fix to keep it
A fault would be a reason to reject but they call it a "characteristic"
Anybody who has spun the drive wheels of a scale electric car in their fingers may recognize the feeling of the vibration of the Xpower I also think it's a resonance of the two motors at a certain speed 65mph ISH. I post admit I didn't notice it until I read about it. Does it bother me no.

It's a fault covered by a warranty which MG need to sort out , they attempted to fix early on with steering dampers but found that wasn't the solution, that alone is admitting there's a problem
have you tried driving it in eco at the same speed, is it still there. If so it's not the motors as the motor doesn't kick in at all on eco and it's just RWD!
I've now found out it's a drive shaft problem MG Austria have released a fix while MG here continues to lie to customers
Hola, me gustaría saber si ya le han resuelto el problema que genera la vibración??. MG Tenerife, tiene un x-power con unos 1400 km. que me quieren vender y del que estoy interesado, pero no sé qué hacer. Saludos
Me comentan que están esperando una pieza del soporte del motor delantero, parece que le cambian un poco la inclinación del motor y que se resuelve el problema de la vibración, no sé.
MG are not honest about what stage they are at with fixing the vibration, a few owners have had a steering damper fitted but I know that this doesn't solve the problem only mask it or try to mask it. My car is having it fitted tomorrow but I've told them it will not help and I won't stop till all the problems are sorted , the other problem with them is random steering interventions
Hundreds of them out there with the issue. 8 months dealing with MG , i should have bought the demo, no vibes
I'm going to try get them to release a proper fix even if it means legal action at dealer , there selling these knowing that they have issues and not telling customers
I've started legal action so if I win I will try help other owners

If you watched the latest video you would find that MG refuse to fix the car so on that basis it will be rejected, do you really think that happens overnight, sparrow you are the troll and the disgruntled MG employee, I have legitimate concerns with a company who doesn't really care
