- The video gives you a step by step tutorial how to dismount the front struts of a Volkswagen Golf MK1. The struts are disassembled and the shock absorber are replaced. Then the struts are mounted back to the car.
Das Video gibt eine Anleitung zum Ausbau der vorderen Federbeine am VW Golf 1. Die Federbeine werden zerlegt und die Stoßdämpfer sowie die Domlager ausgewechselt. Dann wird das überholte Federbein wieder im Fahrzeug montiert.

manner. I used to own a 1984 Rabbit GTI ( US version of the MK I Golf GTI) and it was the BEST car I ever owned, sadly it was stolen in 1995 and I still miss it today.

are the front and rear the same? i have to do my suspension and am going to put bilstein shocks in and im considering to do all 4. thanks for the great video
Hi, the shocks front and rear are different, but the method of replacing them is very similar. Have a close look to the mounting point in the rear. Rust a this place is a common problem. Greetings, Jürgen

I need to remove my front shock absorbers in order to put new protection on them, do you know if that's a tough job for my specific car? It's an Audi 100 2.3E (1992).

xSwedenPie Hi, at the C4 it is possible to remove the shock absorbers without dismountng the strut, but I don't know, if this is valid for the protection too. If you dismount the complete strut, the procedure is quite the same as for the Golf Mk1., but disassembling the strut is easier. Greetings, Jürgen

Wissen sie ob die konische sabfen (die mutter die mitgelifert ist) auch noch separaat zu kaufen ist. Meine stobdampfer hatten keine neu ins verpackung un d die alte sind nicht gut mehr. Do you know if the nut you put on the strut to hold the shock in place can be bought new. A similar nut is also ok.
