I got the job!!! I graduate in about 4 weeks-May 2023 and I used your videos to prepare for my interviews. Thank you!!! Congratulations to you as well!!!
I am so VERY HAPPY for you Inspiring School Counselor!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I'm wanting to move this year as well from K-8 back to PreK-5. If I might make a suggestion on your delivering lessons from room to room since you will have an office space next year, perhaps a roller cart would work. I designed a personal roller cart with the things I needed. I wish I could upload a picture for you to see. I even included the MEEBIE doll you introduced so many videos ago. Just a suggestion. I'm sure that however you decide to present your lessons it will be great! CONGRATS AGAIN!!!!👏👏👏👏🙌🙌🙌🙌🎊🎊🎉
Thank you so much, and I am definitely going to apply that suggestion and get a roller cart. It's going to be different going from students coming to me for lessons to me coming to them but im up for it :-) also, I pray everything works out for you that something comes open for a prek-5 position! That is so awesome that you designed your personal cart. I would love to see it. If you want to send it to me through email you can: theinspiringschoolcounselor@gmail.com. Thank you again ❤️
I am interviewing for a position tomorrow for the same reason, to get closer to home ❤ this is confirmation that yes I'm doing the right thing, and no I'm not over doing it by having my portfolio together 😅😅😅😊 thank you
Thank you Fabia for your question. I am actually working on a video now to go over all the things that make up a school counselor portfolio, so stay tuned for that :-)
Do you have to travel from school to school when you are a school counselor? Can you have the option to be stationed at one school instead of having to travel to different schools all the time?
Thank you for your question. So it just depends where you are applying but you dont have to apply for a school counselor position where you have to travel from school to school. When you are applying pay attention to the location where they say you are going to be working. Sometimes, it might say systemwide, pool, or list the schools you will be applying to work at when applying for that position. However, i come to find that the majority of school counselor positions are to be stationed at one school. I hope this helps. If you have any more questions, feel free to reach out.
Thank you for your reply. Also congratulations on getting the job. I was also wondering what kind of cases do you have to work with as a counselor. What types of students do you have to work with?
@gospel girl99 i work with all students(general education students and SPED), and the cases vary from working with those having behavior issues, friendship issues or death of a loved one and many more. I hope this was able to help.
