People who were fluent as a kid but arent as adults let me tell you something. You never got 'worse', in fact you probably still know most of the words you did as a kid, you just never got 'better' in the way that you learn new words and more complex sentence structures as you grow up with your main spoken language. But that fundamental understanding of knowing when words end and begin in conversation, how to simply ask for things or meanings, cultural nuance of being raised by foreign parents all plays a part in learning languages. You know more than you think and it'll always be easier for you to pick it up if you ever want to properly learn it, than someone who's starting fresh.
