@@Kirblinxy well, counterspells, bolts and cantrips remained, the rest changed a lot. Back in that day, Spire golem used to be a serious threat. OH yea, auras are cool. Remember when I was playing mirror and oppo had standard bearer which I had no answer for.
This would have been the first time I played the deck, so I wouldn't say I was confident. I have a lot of meta knowledge of Pauper so I generally have a good idea what cards I need to draw and what cards I need to remove/counter of the opponents. I try not to play the same deck for a while so you probably won't see me play this again unless new cards come out for it. I'll probably play a Jeskai list soon at some point that might be of interest to you.
@@Kirblinxy That's awesome. I meant "confident" in the way that I could tell that you definitely knew what you were doing and it was really nice seeing someone pilot this deck that fluently. Knowing it was a first time is astonishing. I'll look forward to the jeskai list then. Thanks!
@@Kirblinxy nah i see how entitled I am. I love stompy but I learn to appreciate the pauper content more Plus andrea mengucci really got me to like skred terror.
Congrats on the 5-0 ! I really appreciate that you played against it in the last video, then you play it here as a showcase. So what could be the next deck played ? 🤔😅 Jund Broodscale ? Even though you played your own version ?
Thanks! They don't come around too often. I actually recorded Jund Broodscale the same time as my own version, so I was just going to leave that as a vault video. I never know what deck I am going to play until I scramble to make a video on the Sunday 😅
Walls played poorly on the second game. After playing 2 Axebane, should have transmuted Drift of Phantasms for Drift for Drift for Reaping the Graves returning the 3 Drift (or 2, if 1 copy got countered) to hand and then get set for the next turn. Going for the easy counterable option was definitely a mistake.
I think I mentioned this when they transmuted as that would have been the line I would have gone for. I figured I had lost that game after the winding way hit 4 cards so I definitely got away with that win.
So many funny moments in this one. "I don't know how they get out of this... Swamp might do it... Fanged flames doesn't even kill the Crystalis..." I appreciate the light hearted comments I was thinking the same thing everytime. Those games where your opponent is dead 4x over and they go to untap as you're thinking... I dont expect Ill lose but if I have not done enough Im not sure what to say.
I've always been a pessimist, so I guess I always try and figure out the worst outcome and how I can play around it. Glad you are enjoying the commentary, still find it hard to not have dead air but feel I've gotten a lot better over the year.
Seen a couple of other people put out a video of that deck already since it won Paupergeddon. I'll probably get around to it at some point, lots of decks to chose from recently.
At 1:40 couldn’t you Fanged Flames the Writhing Chrysalis in response to the second Spawn sac trigger and kill it before it got the 1/1 counter, and not lose your attacking Azure Fleet Commodore?
Hello @Kirblinxy ! How bad would think it would be to change red to black? Snuff Outs and Agony Warps/Cat Downs for the red target spells and a Thorn for the red Pirate. Drown in Sorrows instead of the red sweepers. Would that be so bad, I wonder?
The real draw of red is those 1 mana removal spells. Sure you have Snuff Out but then all the other black removal is 2 mana, and that costs twice as much as skred! I did play UB teachings just be MH3 came out which shows how that removal suite works if you want to check out that vid.
Both UR and UB are good, but have different matchup preferences. Black is slightly better against creature combos (due to snuff out) and grave-synergy decks(boujuka and spellbomb). Red plays best sweeper(breath weapon) and arguably more efficient removal package, also is superior sideboard color (pyroblasts and artifact hate).
TBH I don't even know what team I am on. I guess I am just a hipster and now combo is too mainstream, got to knock it down a peg. Midrange and Control need love too.
Nice run, man! Happy to see deck still performing well after a year! Don't like absence of Augurs, they are sooo good and synergistic in deck with brainstorms/ponders/breathweapons/loriens/monarch and most likely the best card in the deck. Also, preordains are not preferred cantrip here, another sorcery speed one, and generally worse then consider/thoughtscour with bs/ponders/terrors.
Thanks! I am by no means a control specialist, so all of these suggestions are probably correct. The deck was straight from Spock, who has played more of this deck than anyone else, so I assumed the changes were done for a reason (I assume for the ponza heavy meta). I think I was just lucky with my matchups like if I played against Kuldotha I would have really wanted Augur. I could see Consider instead of Preordain, really wanted to hold up mana a lot during this league.
@@KirblinxyThanks! How you keep track of decks without decklists being posted? Even played mirror against real master of tribe-combo EhDM. Btw, deck looks absurdly good in current meta, most opponents can barely interact with it!
@@TheForesterf I look at all the replays after the event has ended to catalogue the decks. I can only do it for events I am in. I tried Tribe in a league last week and went 0-2 drop. I think I just had bad luck.
Definitely! Sweepers are here mostly for kuldotha-red decks. And they have too much pirates now (cannonade does no damage to them). Otherwise cannonade would be better.
@@TheForesterf How are you replying quicker to my videos than I am 😅 Foresterf is right though, it is mainly there for red and they run 2 different pirates (Lackey, Raider) so you want the sweeper to make sure it actually clears the board.
Ur control was my first pauper deck ever (like 10 years ago or something) so it will always have a spot in my heart.
I bet it looks nothing like it does now. My first was WG Aura Gnarlid. Mildly surprised how many of the cards in that still see play tbh.

4 Ponder, 0 Augur? What in tarnation
Lets see vs a good combo player like Saidin or Apas 😊
Maybe my tag line was a bit to click-baity this time. I would probably get roasted by those two, but sometimes luck goes my way.
Fanged flames kills indestructible creatures (like an animated bridge)
Not from what I can read. (I did triple check this to make sure)

drown in sorrow is sorcery speed, and skred is better value for the mana. just my 2 cents.
