@@overtimearcade 7 year old me probably keyed in on the level layout (platform fits) and colors/size of the characters. Both characters punch things... The fact I wasn't good at either helped. I only recently got past the first level on Popeye.
Actively watching, here's a tip: spray the spray on a cotton swap over the garbage can then apply it to the vinyl. I did that on my Data East cabinet where the gray vinyl was coming off. That said I would totally peel the vinyl off completely then apply new vinyl. Wood grain vinyl is so cheap and easy to get.
But muh oRiGiNaLiTy! 😅 If I was doing this restoration for anyone other than myself, or if I was doing it for a public location, I definitely would have slapped on fresh woodgrain vinyl for sure.
@@overtimearcade That's unfortunate, but makes sense. On a lighter note, the big question... What gets more clicks/views: a> Barn finds, b>warehouse raids, or c> abandoned malls! Sorry... I love the UA-cam algorithm angle of this :) Everything you do is engaging. Keep it up!
Great to see that you managed to get the cab finished. If you ever get a scan done of the bezel, I'd be happy for a copy. I know a few people would be interested.
Based on timestamps, I'm assuming you jumped to the end of the video...? 😂 Absolutely -- I'm looking for a local print shop or something with a large-format flatbed scanner to get this thing scanned for reproduction!
Thanks, Russell - I thought I’d be chasing the artwork for years! Very happy with the end result. Thanks so much for watching and I truly appreciate your support!
Believe me, I was so ready to make an “IT’S BROKE!!” joke if the bezel arrived damaged in transit… 😂 And the only flavor of that stuff I can stand is lemon. The others are just nasty.
I just watched the video in its entirety, very nicely done and we appreciate the nice shoutout Give this guy a thumbs up he didn’t have to do that haha
it's just degradation of the plastic T molding. Believe it or not Plastic degrades over time so, Depending more on sun exposure and as you alluded too chemical reaction based on a strong cleaner just depends how quickly the plastic degrades.
Doubt it, It could of just been the floor cleaner slowly over time ate at the T-molding. it looks like the original t-molding for the cabinet which looks like the cheaper kind you would see from the late 70's through the 90's.
@@overtimearcade It can, I mean usually the floor cleaner is made to work on Vinyl flooring but the plastic of the T-molding can be of another plastic/rubber that can react with curtain high strength cleaning fluids. Great to see this working, a much under-rated game. Ron and Joe are legends for setting you up.
Thanks, and thanks for watching! Ron & Joe are the BEST!!
OMG! I haven't played this game since it came out in the 80s. WOW, what a flashback you just gave me. This game has constantly reminded me of Popeye.
Thanks for watching - be sure to stick around as this is what we’re all about here!
They had one at the nearby Major Magic’s growing up. It’s funny you say that, but it did remind me of Popeye, too.
Was it the platforming, the ladders, or the clunky controls?

Oh that’s right, the punching! Popeye is a much better game IMO, and I’ve already got a spare bezel for that cabinet! 😂

Watching Joe's channel is how you appeared in my recommendation feed. Glad to see they are still helping you out in other ways as well.
That's very cool -- Ron & Joe are great guys!
I hit 'Like' the moment I saw "Abandoned Mall". Its a reflex... Love the restoration videos!
Thanks! I’m so glad people enjoy these! I wonder how many more games are sitting out there collecting dust in old malls across the country…?
@@overtimearcade You'd think operators would take their games out, but if the mall itself owned the games, they're probably sitting there...
True, but there have been so many warehouses filled with games that wind up getting liquidated after the operator passes away…

From what I’ve seen, abandoned malls have the broadest appeal! Thanks for the kind words!
Great conclusion and another restored cabinet done ;)
Thanks!! 🦘🦘🦘

Thanks - will do!!
I loved that game! Thanks for the video
Kangaroo is definitely an acquired taste IMO! 😅 Thanks for watching!
Acetone will take that overspray of glue off without sanding.
Good tip! I have acetone, I just rarely think to use it!
Very nice! That lit up bezel looks great!!! Congrats!
Thanks, Jeff!! I'm so happy with how it turned out!
Are you going to get the bezel scanned so that it could be reproduced? Might come in handy if someone else needs one 🙂

C’MON PEOPLE!
Great job! Too bad it's a Kangaroo though. ;)
What a stinker! It plays like a pre-release build of a game in development that hasn't been fully polished yet!
I liked playing it but it's one of those 'acquired taste' games like Pengo.
Oh man, I personally think Pengo is MUCH better -- especially the early ROMs with the better music!

Very possibly! I’ve never encountered this issue before on a cabinet - perhaps they used cheaper t-molding in Ireland?

Floor cleaner degrading virtually every inch of the t-molding on both sides, without affecting the woodgrain vinyl or rest of the cabinet? 🤔
