    If New Atari checks here. I have a message for their success. This new plus release is an opportunity to literally resurrect a mostly dead Era. Product attention, learning from past failings, and using the consoles pent up and untapped power to bring new adventures and also abilities that never were fully realized. I pre-ordered because I have faith that more than flashbacks are in the future. Don't let us down! If this fails, we have no choice from our standpoint to put the final nails in the lingering coffin. We want to remove the nails and let new life emerge ❤

    Oh man, I am so pumped for this system. Just preordered it, I literally have butterflies in my stomach! I feel like a kid at school again waiting for Christmas. And it plays 7800 carts too.... Atari, you have hit the nostalgia chord very hard with this one! Good work.

    Don’t worry this interview was very good about the machine that originally kicked off something so special that practically almost everyone owns a gaming console from Atari to Sony PlayStation and many more brands. In fact, I still own many gaming consoles inc the original 2600. I wasn’t too fussed about getting the new version. This interview though has very probably swayed my mind to preorder it thank you

    Benny, I have my family’s origin Atari from 1977 and couple other Models and a 7800. I play mine (all unmodified) on two 4k TVs (1-2 yrs old) and 1080p TVs.
    Very easy to hook up! All you need is a cheap RCA to Type F adapter and a TV with a coaxial input. I have a few of these around.
    New TVs default to digital channels so you may just need to tune in the “air” analog channels. With the adapter, hook up your Atari, put in a cartridge and power it up. Then go into settings and tune in the “air” channels. The TV finds the correct channel and saves it for later use. Then you tune to the channel to play. After that hooking up the Atari is quick! On TVs I don’t use the coaxial, I leave the adapter in place. You can even add a switch box and go between two different game consoles.

      For sure! There's definitely very simple and straifhr forward ways to enjoy the classic 2600+, I even have a video using a composit to HDMI adapter to play Valorant on a CRT lol.
      I was mostly referencing that in general, it'll be easier for consumers to have a plug and play HDMI console with minimal issues.
      Thanks for watching!

    Definitely gonna get one, found some cheap 2600/7800 carts near me, will be fun to play them without modding an old system. Only complaint is I wish they had added an extra button or two to the new joystick for the 7800 games.

      Make sure you look at the compatibility chart, it's a cart dumper like the Retron 77, so there's games that not going to work on it, especially many homebrew games.

      I’m assuming it simply reads the cartridges and emulates the software. So probably 1080p?

    • @alivenumber5
      @alivenumber5 8 місяців тому +1

      Bruh. It’s a 2600 so you’re asking the wrong questions. The correct questions is what plans do they have for new games on this thing.

  • @buriedbits6027
    @buriedbits6027 8 місяців тому

    Atari should teach AI how to program the 2600 and then use AI to help develop some interesting software techniques to build huge games, you know 32KB-64KB games in that signature Atari 2600 video and audio style. They could augment the technology to perhaps create virtual network controllers so that players can compete online. Wish Atari luck but I think they need to think one layer above the reissue and repackage paradigm and begin using the platform to take things to the next step.

  • @PitfallHarry72
    @PitfallHarry72 4 місяці тому

    It's unfortunate that they went with emulation instead of replicating the 7800 board and improving it to output using HDMI. Old tech with a few new tweaks. This basically would have ensured that all games released for the 2600 and 7800 would work without issue. But no. They went the way of the cheap and easy, with emulation, causing some carts to not work. It's a nice system, but it could have been better.

    Good job buddy. It's funny though that old smelly hippies are doing this. I'm assuming then that they have passion from their project as this is the target age range for people who still find Atari as a playable gaming option, post-NES.

      The original 1970's Atari developers were of this type as well. Alot of Artistic and Creative people in general have this vibe.

      Smelly hippie’s created a tremendous amount of the technology world we enjoy today! Many worked at Atari. Atari was no small potatoes.
