    I like to use empty water bottles or take out containers that have lids for large pots. I used packing peanuts once and they turned out to be the kind that dissolves in water lol. Thank you for the info!

    Really liked the tips with the stones and old pots at the bottom of the bigger container.
    I grow pineapples in containers. I document the process as I go.
    I really need to keep a good soil drainage with the pineapples so I mix the soil with coco fibers so it is airier. Works well. Maybe I will also combine few pabbles at the bottom like you do.

    I have to agree with the water needs not compatible. I have a hard time with succulents anyway and can not fathum them making it with plants needing more water than they do. The color arrangement is beautiful, I love darker not pastel color arrangements.

    False bottoms are OK but there is another design idea which I like and see at various places. They use a large pot for the effect of how it looks in the front entry / doorway , etc, but inside is actually a smaller pot (eg the canna plant would be in a smaller pot). Another plant, such as petunias, could be in their own pot, too. Both of these, would be in the larger pot, and you can cover the soil with some kind of decoration or ultimately, the petunias may grow over to cover any actual pot or soil that you might see.

    Undeniably, containers gardening are now most popular way of growing your favorite plants in a very particular given area. Nevertheless, I found these growing techniques are very easy to maintain. Growing this kind of methods keep your environment clean and organized!

    You drill a hole to let the water out and yet you cover that hole by placing another pot over it to create a false bottom. So how is the water going to come out?

    • @pershop4950
      @pershop4950 3 роки тому

      The landscape fabric is breathable and the pot has holes in it. Unless the pot also created a watertight seal at the bottom (unlikely), then the water that reaches the bottom of the pot also will drain out the hole.

    the water needs of the plants are not compatible.The succulent requires very little water compared to the other plants. It's highly likely that the succulent will rot and die.

      The succulents did great all that summer because the roots of the succulents are very shallow I was able to let the top soil stay dry with the roots of the other plants having adequate water deeper. The comments are correct the plants do have very different watering needs and you have to be careful if you mix these types of things together. Thank you for the feedback.

    Saw this video before was impressed with fact that flowers could grow by this method putting a smaller pot in bottom of large one then the material over it would like to know if you can also do this with veggies& how does one go about doing it being a farm girl knew about gardens however the Okanagan BC. weather has been quite cold at nite & quite hot during day would appreciate ideas about which veggies would be best with your method as this is second year trying pot gardening oh also we face the south on three sides so it's going to be hot same for flowers & decorative plants like hosta & coleus the heat is hard on coleus already have ivy geraniums , some llysum, dusty miller. & zonal geraniums, decorative grass tall plant so would you please get back to me about this mess so am not planting some items not suitable with each other being we are mostly south exposure thank you so much . Sandra Graham PS: ARE ALREADY TEMPORARILY IN POTS AS TRIED TIER GARDENING WITHOUT WATERING SYSTEM YOU SEE DOESN'T WORK WELL JUST SITTING POTS INSIDE POTS WITH NO SPACE BETWEEN THEM .

      How to sing happy birthday

    • @pershop4950
      @pershop4950 6 років тому

      Yes you can do it with many plants, as long as their roots don't need to go deeper. Eg, many plants that we put into pots probably only need about the first 3-4 " of soil. The rest of the depth, is not used. Larger pots are used for a more dramatic effect and landscaping design , but the extra soil depth is not used by many annual plants that are usually the ones getting put into the pots each spring, or each time the pot needs to be refreshed.

    if you have such a big pot, it will be a shame plant can not utilize the space completely. Leca nuts in bottom is cheap and good. good soil costs nothing so why not let the plant could develop correctly. I do not really whether these false bottoms.

      Good soil is expensive.
      Most plants don't utilize the entire depth of the large pots that we put them in.
      Cannas are a good example. We usually put them in large pots but their root system doesn't go deeper and deeper.

    I like plants, but i am toxic to them. I try to take care of them, but they get sick and depressed. Even the weeds barely survive. they are in pots on a roof deck in the tropics and get about 12 hours of blinding sun all year long. what could they have to complain about? they are mostly homegrown pineapple heads, but there are some store bought plants. maybe prof gardeners cd come here for a free vacation, near the beach, ocean view in exchng for making my deck look like the garden of eden.

    You just make the pot "top heavy". With a smaller base, you will already have s problem with that. You will not doubt have a yard full of tipped over pots as the wind enjoys getting ahold of those canna leaves. SMH

    U can be flower arranger but the way i see it, ur not a plant grower, i am very sure you dont know what your planting. There is no doubt that one way or the othet will die. Its 2 extreme opposite plants in one pot. Tropical plants and succulents dessert plants are dont live together my dear.
