Blue Skies Jazz Vocal

Here’s a version of Blue Skies by Irving Berlin that is different to the classic versions by Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and other great jazz singers and crooners. I wrote this arrangement for my jazz vocal group Vox City 5 in 2007. Featuring myself and the wonderful Nia Lynn on vocals, we are backed by a great rhythm section of Barry Green (piano), Dave Whitford (bass) and Matt Home (drums). I love the positivity of this tune and worked on getting a contemporary arrangement which still had a happy jazz vibe to it! I also had fun getting the two vocal parts to work well together. In this performance take a scat solo after the first head , then there’s a piano solo from Barry, and a jazz trombone solo from me too! Hope you enjoy it.
