- This is the shocking moment a group of Just Stop Oil protesters risked causing 'serious harm' when they invaded the track at the British Grand Prix.
The climate activists wandered onto the tarmac at Silverstone during the first lap of the race, which had been red flagged due to a crash on July 3 last year.
A court heard the group posed 'an immediate risk of serious harm' to Formula One drivers racing around the track as well as race marshals.
Bethany Mogie, 40, David Baldwin, 47, Alasdair Gibson, 22, Emily Brocklebank, 24, Louis McKechnie, 22, and Joshua Smith, 29, went on trial accused of conspiracy to cause public nuisance.
Today (Fri) they were all found guilty of the charge following a trial at Northampton Crown Court.
Following the case, police released footage of the heart-stopping moment the group invaded the track as F1 cars sped past.
Body-cam footage also captured the moment officers moved in to remove them with one campaigner being heard to shout: "This is a climate emergency."
The court heard five of them had managed to walk onto the tarmac and sit down on the live race track armed with glue, intending to glue themselves to the floor.

Yes
This is exactly what I mean. I support their cause, but this way of going about it is absurd. I can see the thought process of "can't get attention for the cause? Start by getting attention", but this is going to do nothing to attract people who actually want to make a positive change to the environment. Only more disrupters who want to make a scene and get on the news, and not in a positive way. If anything, this is painting a bad image of climate activism, it might even just drive most normal people away from the cause so they're "not like them". There are other better and more productive ways to get attention and bring attention to a cause like this to get real support.

You mean “debris”
they worked so quickly too
Risked serious harm, they waited til all the cars went passed then dodged another
What an inspiring protest ! Now I am going to get in my car, get some fuel and drive around for no reason.
Unlike a public highway, this is private property and they can be removed from the property.
Blockading a public highway is ALSO illegal..your government chooses not to enforce the law.
If I was an F1 driver I would have taken that turn wide and played Wii bowling 😂
The race was already red-flagged.
God Bless You
No point in damaging to car and getting the stench of hippy on it.
sameeee
But then the poor car would be damaged
Just shows the level of security they have
Love how they think that doing this will make a change, instead of picking up rubbish off the beach
The damage they do at their protests is disgusting to behold. The lives they risk are not just their own. Throw the goddamn books at them until they learn to respect other people.
This right here, how much oil and other pollution would have been emitted if some poor driver had to swerve out of the way for these idiots and have crashed? They are protesting in such a way to cause an accident, which would only hurt humans and the environment they're trying to "save".
@@unitytwins6652 I would have not crashed, I would have tried to break and if I hit them = their fault.
@@youareacoward8459 Surely you don't understand how the dynamics of such a car works. The act of breaking would likely have flipped the car over or send it into the wall.
@@jaycee330 Fine, but they would have died too.
@@youareacoward8459just strap bard wires and stakes on the front of your vehicle, that'll catch them and prevent them from flying
