For those having trouble with the flame appearing after baking and switching to rendered, instead of adding a attribute node, add a volume info node and connect the flame to the emission strength; then sandwich a color ramp node between them.
I don't usually have a lot of time for tutorials but the short versions of this were just four clicks and the video ended. You guided me through it and told what you were doing each time. When I am able to watch long ones this will be my go to for tutorials from now on.
I can't figure out why but turning on 'Modular' in the domains cache setting stops the simulation all together. It doesn't seem that important I can just use 'Replay' but I feel like I should mention it anyway, see if anyone has/needs a solution. To elaborate and repeat myself. When I Set the Type to 'Modular' in the physics tab on the domain of the fire, the fire becomes invisible. I don't know if its invisible or unrendered. (Though theres no lag when I press play so I'd say it's just not rendering) I've tried different viewport shadings, letting it run a while, rewatching the video. But everything I've done in my project is Identical to the video and works fine. Thats all, Figured I'd mention it, it doesn't really affect me at all. Anyhow, great video! Good job!
Blender made easy, can you please make a video on how to hold/throw a fireball? I have been trying to make one using the fireball from polyfjord but I have had no luck man this drives my crazy 😣
Great tutorial! Only problem is every time I try to bake with any value higher than 64 or so blender crashes every time. I have an extremely good PC, (Intel i9-14900K, RTX 4090, 128gb RAM) so that's not the issue. I've reinstalled blender, restarted my PC... I'm at my wits end
When you get the chances do you think you could try creating a nuclear bomb simulation in only Mantaflow? Based off what other attempts of a nuclear bomb using Mantaflow it’s a big challenge to completely match the shape and flow of the mushroom cloud. If you do, good luck!
Hi. I'm starting the bake, and I get a message which says "Non Resumable Data, Baking noise will not be possible." Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for any assistance you can give.
That just means that you haven't clicked on the "Is Resumeable" option in the cache tab. You will still be able to bake the simulation but you won't be able to pause the bake and resume it and you won't be able to bake in Noise if you wanted to do that. Usually I do like to have the Is Resumeable checked just in case I want to pause or stop the bake halfway through.
is it possible to change the fire to like numbers instead? I want to make an object that is shaped by flowing 1's and 0's that fades into nothing as like fire or smoke
i rendered with cycles so i can have a transparent background and the result seems like it has a very low opacity. Also i cant find the volumetrics panel in 4.2 edition. Any help ?
Try different values on volumetrics for EEVE end frame. With my object and camera setup flame disappeared when setting end frame to 8, had to go higher. This is 15:50 minutes on the timeline
@@aa.antarr The same here, there is no volumetrics and it is volume.Is this good because when I open a file created with 4.2.1 with 4.1, it is converted to where the values are similar?Furthermore, with 4.2.1, if I hide the flow object and render it as shown at 15:57, it goes completely dark.I have tried temporarily making the material of the flow object transparent, but I don't know if this is a change in Blender's specifications or a bug.Thanks for the easy to understand tutorial.
What if i had a big smoke domain? Somewhere 50m wide (basically i need more samples) and i already set the render samples 256 and volume steps at 2px and the samples to 256 which is maximum amount.. but my fire still not looks good (tile-y) 🥲🥲

If you wanted more of a rotating ball of fire look, how would you do that? Would you have the mesh rotate via keyframes?

How to make fire loop on itself, so there is not transition in animation from end to start? I need lopable fire for game.

The issue of the flow object not rendering when hidden has been fixed in the 4.2.2 Release Candidate that is currently available.
