Say what you want about the film overall, but John Cena does a surprisingly good, sincere job as Ferdinand. And the scene in the bull ring where Ferdinand wins without fighting and the matador villain spares him is a powerful one.
The ending is very sweet and heartfelt, being conveyed with minimal dialogue. Ferdinand is content to spend the rest of his days underneath his favourite tree, simply smelling the flowers, with his friends in tow.

Funny enough though the original short story was referenced in "The Blind Side" I mentioned on another video that I really hate sports movies and this movie does have a lot of that stuff that I really hate. However a big part of the plot is that the black guy named Michael never learned how to read and rather than being one of those movies where they pass the dumb jock just so he can play in the game, they actually want him to be able to get a real education knowing that he can't rely on sports as a career for the rest of his life. I couldn't believe that it was with John Cena and Kate McKenna in the cast, with a cute connection between Ferdinand and the little girl, and a great premise, and it was more underwhelming than the Disney version that came out decades ago
Honestly, the joke about the names of the three hedgehogs should have worked, it's funny on its own, but then they try to bring it back in the end, and it just sours the whole thing
This is the sort of movie I feel in a similar way to the relatively recent animated Addam's Family movie (the first one). Perfectly just okay. Nothing outrageously wrong with it, but nothing that really makes you want to go out of your way to see it again.

* 101 Dalmatians 2: Patch’s London Adventure the PS1 game (you reviewed the movie years ago now you gotta play the game)
* Housebroken
on Disneycember, times running out
The Nick Jonas song is amazing
Now you need to cover the original disney animated short
Awesome animated movie!
AND HIS NAME IS JOHN CENA!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂LOL
Think it could’ve been a much greater movie but it kinda just settled being mostly ok. A lot of it is just filler and filled with gags and only some jokes are funny when it should focus more on how messed up the bulls’ lives are
I have the same thoughts, but with the movie IF
IF is more watchable than this tho. At least Ryan Reynolds is in it.
At least IF has a lot more creativity and passion put into it.
So Disney made 2 Ferdinands
I think doug is underselling this movie, its a cute little movie. it's not like breaking any ground, but from what I remember of this movie it was a sweet little film.
Please review Epic (another blue skys film)
Love that movie.
At least this Ferdinand doesn't constantly yap on and on about Nobility.
When Epic Mickey?
Just watch Barn Yard instead
This movie coming out the same weekend as Last Jedi is really funny
That one moment in The Blind Side where Michael Oher is being compared to Ferdinand The Bull
I would rather watch The Blind Side(2009) instead.
R.I.P Blue Sky Studios.
I for oen adore this film I believe it’s better then the trailer showed it to be, it’s dated at times but it’s a simple cute story with a strong moral of not wanting to be fighting corn make you a coward. And jsut because someone is gigantic dotn mean there not gentle and kind to.
personally I thought this was a solid movie
I love this movie
One of the best animated films of 2017 but it’s overall fine.
I couldn't believe that it was with John Cena and Kate McKenna in the cast, with a cute connection between Ferdinand and the little girl, and a great premise, and it was more underwhelming than the Disney version that came out decades ago
It was so meh
Has Doug seen Peacemaker?
I need to watch it.
Honestly, the joke about the names of the three hedgehogs should have worked, it's funny on its own, but then they try to bring it back in the end, and it just sours the whole thing
And His Name is... JOHN CENA!!!
Insert U Can't See Me Music
It’s a cute film.
A movie should be more than that tho
This is the sort of movie I feel in a similar way to the relatively recent animated Addam's Family movie (the first one). Perfectly just okay. Nothing outrageously wrong with it, but nothing that really makes you want to go out of your way to see it again.
I'd probably like this movie a lot more if it didn't have one of the stupidest Blue Sky Studios villains ever.
So are we ever gonna get a Disneycember for Nimona? I feel like with your ever expanding rules that occupies something of a grey area. Then again every movies gonna be a Disney movie eventually, right?
He did Nimona last year. Check the 2023 Disneycembers playlist.
The state of Ohio owns an animation cell from the 1938 film. It's on display inside the house at Malabar Farm State Park.
The movie would’ve been good had it got better voice actors, please stop casting John Cena in animated movies!
So Doug has done all the Blue Sky Studios films for Disneycember then.
AND HIS NAME IS............y'all know the rest
I had to watch this in order to watch ever best animated feature nominee. It was like bottom 5 for me
No wonder why. It is pretty predictable, generic and cliched, honestly.
