Im gonna argue that Ironwood, while not the best, made me believe a game focusing on an adult Atreus could work. Then his personality 180's to going to Asgard and against what he was just arguing for. Then i doubted my original sentiment.
About Angrboda messing with the giant’s soul, what if she was simply showing a confused Atreus the magic in a more delicate way than how he treated them? I’m sure she knew a decent amount about the structure and technology of the object, and as such likely knew how to demonstrate its workings without damaging anything. She pulls it like a thread or string, almost like she’s playing an instrument. One might carefully strum a harp and yet still be angry if someone set it down roughly. Would love to hear your thoughts. PS great video❤
I understand what you mean and Atreus does emulate the same action when he's going to put the soul into the snake, I just wish they framed that part better like it was a tutoring lesson on how to handle the souls rather than scolding and going off on a tangent while casually pulling the soul out. I see what they were going for but just like a lot of this section, the execution didn't land. Thanks for watching and I appreciate the thoughts!

I've heard some people say that while Ironwood may be dull and boring from a gameplay perspective, it's great from a story perspective, but that's exactly the problem. I don't care what anyone says... gameplay will forever be the single most important element of any video game. Heck, it's the reason why we even play video games in the first place. Making good and engaging gameplay should always take priority over anything else when developing a video game. You can have your story and lore absolutely, but if it comes at the cost of gameplay, then it's just not worth it. These are VIDEO GAMES after all. Not movies. Not to mention, it really hurts replayability. Since you'll already know all of the story beats on subsequent playthroughs, all you have left is the mediocre gameplay pretty much, which just makes the whole experience even more intolerable. However, if Ironwood actually HAD good gameplay, then knowing the story beats beforehand won't matter as much, as you'll at least have a fun section to play through to make up for that. This is why gameplay is so important and why it should never be sidelined for anything else under any circumstances.
I’ve replayed every God of War game there is…except Ragnorak. I just can’t with Atreus. It’s not even specifically this level it’s his entire gameplay design. I’m not here for that. I’m trying to play as the God of War! Not his emotional and angsty teen son with a bow that feels like a Nerf toy. The rest of the experience is fantastic but I literally can’t be bothered to replay through the sections of gameplay as Atreus just to play the game again.
I really felt the entire game was medicore and didnt feel like a god of war game at all.. kratos feels weak during combat.. combat is frustrating, even the weakest enemies take like 10 hits before they die, and they can all stagger you easly. story felt inconcistent, the flow of the story seemed so back and forth and unnesecary. when you go with angrod to Visit here grandmother it was like that entire segment was for some DEI hire at sony santamonica wanted a personal terapy session between her and her dead grandma that didnt support here or something. dialog was worse then the first game, half of it felt like day time tv drama from bold and the beautiful. even the open world traveling around finding stuff and collecting things felt uninspiring compared to the first game. the graphics and scenary was really beautiful. give it 5 out of 10 overall.. i switched halfway through from the second hardest mode to easy mode just to finish it. like this is the only god of war game I ever bought I regret buying. god of war 2018 I would give a 9.

Seems like a bunch of complaints solely based on laziness and impatience. I think ironwood was a great add to the story
