  • Here are the TOP things we have broken on your Jayco Pop Up camper so far. We have really enjoyed camping in our old POP UP camper. It was well worth the purchase.

First thing I always tell people is to stay off the beds when they are not supported. If they don't listen they sleep outside. Great video as always.

I am retired young overall but for several years, I wholesaled to pet shops around the country from home. So I decided to keep that going part time to give me something to do. Ironically one of my customers who buys several thousand a month had a really nice pop up garage kept in mint condition that he offered as partial payment on plus cash. I accepted and frankly pleased with it. So I am new to owning one myself and reviewed the video just as a precaution and glad I did. Before ever opening it or closing, I reviewed videos so I had a idea. There was no real issue but I did notice the key lock on the screen door was broke so easy fix. It seems it is harder to reserve a camp site in a state park in Florida then it is dealing with pop ups lolol. Thank you for the upload, it is helpful.

We stretched the support cables on our 2017 Viking epic edition, so one side droops a little lower then the other side, we haven't fixed it yet. We also lost our crank because hubby forgot to take it out before driving away, we purchased a new one but it didn't fit so we made some alterations by cutting and welding a metal bar to make it fit properly.

I bought a 2001 Jayco Quest 12A with surge breaks that was shot.
The breaks assembly in the wheels where ok but surge unite in the hitch was beyond repair. I bought an unused unit but still had to hone it out however the internal plunger was to old . I replaced that with a Dorman master cylinder break kit for old Chevy's/Pontiac's and it worked. It took a lot of time and experimentation.
    Thanks again

We haven't really broken anything yet, but we have had to tighten up some stuff here and there. The hinge for the flip down sink started to come unscrewed from the counter top - stuff like that. One strange thing we had happen was that the wrong fuses were in the wrong slots - straight outta the factory! The first trip we took, we could hardly get the top up (electric lift, not hand crank). A fuse blew! I looked at the fuse (assuming it would be the right amp fuse in the slot). It was a 15. Replaced it. Lifting....blown again. Till we were almost out of replacement fuses.....FInally I snapped that the fuse that was blowing was 15 amps but it was coming out of the 30 amp slot!! Plenty of adventures with these pop up campers....See ya at the campground....................................AO

I had to repair my Fresh water tank. There was a screw in the floor that was not completely set below floor level for year the head of that screw rub against the tank, until it finally broke through. I had just filled the tank and we were leaving for the weekend. There was water everywhere. I was still at home so it was easy to fix. It just took time.
Take out tank, take out old screw, properly install new screw, install padding under tank, put a nylon screw with rubber seals on both sides to seal tank, and reinstall the tank.
Trailers are just like houses except the part that breaks is the part you need right then and your 60 miles away from the tool you need to fixit.usually br

We snapped a cable on the lift system on our Coleman 2002 Cheyanne, our first trip out with it, for exactly the reason you said. Left one of the clamps on it and didn’t realize and BANG. We’d popped it up several times beforehand at home to clean it, pack it, try it out etc and never any issues. We arrived at our campsite so excited to settle in with our kids and completely missed one of the clamps. My fault. Whoops. We’re getting it fixed on Saturday at an RV dealership and hoping for the best. They quoted about 3-4 hours, 130 an hour. Lesson learned.

I have a Coleman Fleetwood 1997 (21 yo) that I purchased brand new. It has always been stored in my garage, it is still in great shape. The only thing I have had to do on that pop-up is spray the canvas at the seams, in order to keep it from leaking, other than that it has held up well to endless camping trips, in all kinds of weather, and small children (they are all grown now)..

I've had the same trailer for about 4 years. The drain valve on the fresh water tank has been stiff since we got it. A week ago it litterally broke off in my hand as I was trying to close it. Thankfully we has a city water hookup where we were camping but now I'm trying to figure out how to fix it and where to get the parts.

I just bought a 2000 Rockwood Freedom and I pray to god, I dont break anything. However, I did almost tear the tarp closing the camper. I was pushing the bed in and I noticed I was struggling but yet, kept pushed 🙄 couldn't close it. So I opened it again and noticed I had the tarp pushed inside over the roller and the bed roller was stuck in the tarp. Thankfully, it's ok. I was sweating I tell ya. Close beds first then put the tarp in. My first time closing it and I almost ruined the tarp. Lesson learned, if you need to force something to close, STOP theres a problem.

Headed out in my maiden voyage in my new used 2002 Viking pop-up trailer with an AC unit two queen-size beds. So far I replaced the deep cycle battery about a predator 2000 watt generator inverter. I Tandem KAYAK, Canoe. I would never camp cuz I was too embarrassed that I wasn't able to set up a tent. it's been over 2 years now I've been able to set up my tent for my seven children & my bride Now I decided to step up to a POP UP trailer. It's all new to me but I can't run any longer LOL 18 years of me being married and all these kids, staying home summer after summer little hikes here n there. It just wasn't cutting it my grandma Pearl who raised me, born in 1909 in Rocklin California her and her sisters camped all over Northern California parts of Oregon & Nevada. So i owe it to them & my family. I bought a lot of air up toys for the kids, little cheap flashlights, games, sugar cereal that we never eat & S'MORES!! I don't have the big boat or the big big motorhome like my neighbors have across the street from me. But I believe this POP-UP will do!

We have a used StarCraft Pop-upCamper. Just got it. It has a VERY loose fastener for the door to hang on the ceiling as well as when it is down and set up as a full door. Not sure where to get a new screw or new parts or just to fix it?. Left side bad but right side is just fine! Also, our biggest issue is currently, it got a New canvas tent but a few of the fasteners for the bungy to fasten too are missing on the bunkends, As well as the leg support fastener for the 2nd leg on the bunkends are missing. Where do I find them? Thank you!

one of the first things i broke was the front wheel. i forgot to take it off before leaving site, hit a bump and ripped it right off. :( never fixed it just put a 4 by 6 under the remaining pipe. i could of easily just cut the broken piece, drill some new holes and remounted a new wheel, but never really needed it. :)

Scared to mention what I broke on our last outing… hubby hooked up the power & was turning it all on when there was a POP & we lost our lights… also, the water pump will turn on but it gets really hot & stopped pumping water. Let's just say… that not every empty space can be used to store things… and in our 1988 camper… under the sink, next to the furnace, is a definite no-no.
On the previous camping trip, the drawer that was in there broke free & everything in it fell in that hole. As I couldn’t use the drawer… when we packed up, I “temporarily” put everything in that hole… and forgot to tell hubby. 😮 oops.
He was going to re-wire the entire trailer in the spring… SO… we managed our camping trip without on board water & lights… and I’ve learned not to stuff things places without talking it out. 😊

The plastic strips that hold the canvas to the top at each end has virtually nothing to hold the screws. They all started pulling out. Put on thinking cap. Look around garage, shed .... found sign making material called alupanel (2 thin layers of aluminum with composite material in between). Cut 2 pieces, pulled out the plastic strip. Then I drove the new pieces cut to fit up under the top lip. Then placed plastic strips over the bottom section, drilled aircraft stainless screws through new material, holds plastic like a champ. Better than oem. There are other brands, sheets are 4x8 delivered. The plastic strips had a thin layer of wood , with no structural integrity. Now I have a lightweight substrate material that holds the plastic strips like no tomorrow!

Has anybody had an issue with the electrically lifting or lowering the top? I just bought a 2012 Jayco. Got it home, set it up and left it for a few days. When I tried to close it up I had issues getting the top down. It would run for a few seconds and then stop. I would have to push the up buttons and then start going back closed with it. It would run for 5-10 seconds and stop again. Anybody have this same issue and what did you do to correct it?

Adjusted? 1 or more corners not fully lifting? Silicone lubricant the lift poles. If you have plungers in the poles they can get stuck.Supposed to do this once or twice a year anyway on some models.Don't get it on the canvass. If that isn't it, a cable stretched and must be adjusted at distribution block and/or replaced if frayed.Don't know the exact model or problem so hard to answer.

  • @johnhardesty8869
    @johnhardesty8869 4 роки тому

OMG I didn't own mine for even a few weeks. First time I took it out, luckily I tried popping it up before driving it away, the cable that lifts it up totally ripped out of the shaft that turns, lifting it up. So what I had to do was trim that mess of frayed cable off of the end, tape it up with electrical tape, and get the cable back in the hole where the set screw is holding it in place. Don't do what I did and assume it was like some other type of bolt or something. It's a recessed set screw that requires an allen wrench to get it out. I was able to replace the allen screw just in case it was not holding it in good enough. So far, my fix has been good for almost a couple of years now. It still doesn't quite lift up the whole way so we have to use the manual crank to finish getting it up, only an inch or so.

We bought out pup with 2 broken lift cables. They super easy to repair it's just time consuming, unbolting and moving everything to get to them. My husband and I replaced 2 for about $40 with parts from lowes

My pop-up has the same door gap and I have no idea why

If the gap is between the lower and upper door it maybe because the roof is going too high on a corner or overall.

You seem like a very nice couple. So I don't take any joy in saying this. Anyone that uses a plastic fork in a hot fry and then has the lack of self awareness to then record it, is someone I find it hard to take as a serious thinker.
