This Video should be seen by every Hermes HL2 user, the information you have provided is so useful, thanks and look forward to more updates on thetis settings.
You said the word that scares many from using SDR radios...."extensive menus".... but once done and profile(s) created, it is like set it and forget it. From time to time needs to reset database then import back profile is a breeze. A powerful PC is mandatory as the software (Thetis) is doing the heavy lifting. A vast knowledge of Windows is also necessary as one has to accommodate it to make Thetis work. I have seen many purchasing SDR to later go back to using analog ones....It is understandable. Great video! 73s
Hi I just bought the hermes lite2 plus and have downloaded software..if it wasn’t for your video I think it would have been out the door!! It’s working on Rx but I’ve copied your settings and will soon have a play.Thankyou and will follow the videos.Gm4zji Chris
The phase rotator does make a difference in the sound quality - manipulating the positive vs negative peak symmetry. You can make asymmetric peaks more even, or (especially for AM ops) make sure positive peaks are at least as strong as negative ones.
Kurt, really great video that answered a lot of questions for me. Can you please explain how to import the Audio profile you so kindly made available? Thanks. Ken
If you start with Thetis, my suggestion is first bypass/disable the CFC and it's post proccessing and try only with the normal EQ and the Leveler. Audio compression is a special thing. It can make the audio better or not. Without compression we will have more dynamic range in audio generally. For me it sounds better, if you have local talk rounds. For DX a little(!) bit compression is helpful. It's a multiband audio compressor and it's setup is not so easy, because it depends from the voice of the speaker and his voice frequency spectrum. The same for the EQ. Try to setup a linerlay audio spectrum, mostly this sounds as best. The Leveler compensate the mic audio level as a AGC, which controls the audio level automaticly between minimal and maximal mic level, so we will have a nearly constant level as input for modulation and good smooth RF output in SSB. But set the Leveler not so aggressive, that we can hear "background noise". I have done a lot of audio tests with my hamradio friends, and at the end the result was clearly - the best was bypass and not using the CFC (applies with my Headset AND my studio mic, both not the cheapest equipment, because I use it for other things too, where I need a very good audio). 73 Heiko, DL1BZ
when i change transmit profiles my drive slider doesnt change like yours.. when i check the box "Highlight TX profile Save Items" the Drive slider is NOT highlighted
Thank you very much for the nice video! Could you please explain how ( if possible ) can import the audio profiles you provide for download in Thetis? Thanks in advance and keep up!
It would be great if it were possible to monitor / record the audio without actually transmitting. In the past I have tried monitoring via a second receiver but never get good results and relying on over the air feedback is not reliable. Any tips?
Finally got decent audio but I get a small risidual output even with no microphone connected when going into transmit - ? noisy Mic preamp in the Hermes ?
@@oz457the country band plan database is incorrect. 5.365 MHz is in the legal Ham band here in Israel but Thetis shows it as General Rx. How can I fix the band plan database for my country?

Very well done video. Might want to place the word audio in the title though.
thank you very much. what is your pc configuration, (cpu)?
On the MIC levels you got two moving lines, one yellow one white. Which one for MIC?

I wounder if there is any way to use thetis with rtlsdr sdrplay or hackrf
Any ideas will be appreciated
Finally got decent audio but I get a small risidual output even with no microphone connected when going into transmit - ? noisy Mic preamp in the Hermes ?
thats why i avoid such cheap mic preams and always use a dedicated soundcard. voltage regulator may be noisy in the mic preamp of the hermes.
Excellent
Great video and got the levels ok but I get terrible distortion sounds like it’s clipping or overdriving but ok on other sdr software?
can you ppoint out where the audio profiles location pls?
I can't change the size of my multi meters ?
Anyone know how to edit the band plan in Thetis software? It isn't correct for my country.
Setup/HW select/region

Very good
Good video. Helpful, as I just acquired an Anan 100d. 73's 👍
Thanks
Thank you! Its a big contribution for Hams. Thank you! EA5INF
I just used this video for my settings after taking my Anan G2 out of the box and connecting it up.
Great video! de W2CSI
