lol I always had my best landings in bad conditions. Low visibility. Heavy rain, winds, turbulence etc On the beautiful calm wind sunny days is when I tended to “thump” the landings on!🤣🤣 Smoothest landing I ever witnessed? I was in the jump seat riding on one of Comair’s CRJ200s. The captain looked just like Geraldo Rivera!😂😂 We were landing in SDF( Louisville, KY). We were close over the runway… he kept getting slower and slower. From my JS perspective it felt like we were still 10-15 feet over the runway. I thought “ this is going to be a rough landing”. Then, he turned off of the runway on the first high speed exit. I never felt the wheels touch the runway. I flew for over 20 years and never had a landing that smooth!

I've always said this..... There are literally people landing planes from the sky and some people can't even back into a parking spot. Lol. Pilots are amazing
Great point, because 737NG’s are notoriously hard to grease. It’s almost like when you take a 50+ year old airplane, and lengthen it 35+ feet, you need to think about tail strikes!
@@pathetastysnakk I think he meant just greasy landing in general. 737’s are consistently more firm in their landings than A320 family. I Know pilots qualified on both.

He had a left quartering headwind as indicated on the inboard display unit and as he touched down he correctly turns the control column left into it allowing the ailerons to keep the plane stabilized. I’m surprised how much you have to move the yoke on any landing.
I could be wrong, but I think it’s due to the ailerons and elevator having less and less effect on movement the slower you go
@@ed5649 that's a good point
@@ed5649 Yup! Slower IAS = Less airflow over the control surfaces = less effective. 👍🏻
The yoke is actually connected to a pump that pumps up the hydraulic accumulators to facilitate good brake effectiveness.
