The short film starts strong with duality between two characters and above all I think this is the most important. My grandmother made dresses, and for this filmmaker to reach within to describe an understanding "within" and "out" through the language of dresses was a delivery of information. Also, I appreciated the filmmaker's reflection of dual characters with the artisans who did the designing. From Creator to Creation, there could be a carry-through. Whether we were talking in the light of Ariel/Mary Poppins, etc versus Ursula/Cruella, I felt the filmmaker weighed each character in opposition fairly. For example, by mentioning the Mickey Mouse outline in Cruella's dress gives a little confidence for the forwardly erring character. The filmmaker's mentions of design-detail and embroidery (intricacy) to fill any gaps of opposition in the characters' persona was a fair treatment. In her few final scenes, some character-opposition is broken in the mentioning of Cinderella's stepsister combination. By "celebrating" them as characters, we leave straddling the "good vs bad," and within the Director, find peace and humility and acceptance within story platform (and perhaps real life??) Thanks for the great video. It brought back some memories of my family's interest in dresswork.
