The most enjoyable aspect of this wonderfully long video was that you both let Annette talk freely. So delightful to hear a passionate collector talk about their plants! Great video..
Excellent! I have grown violets since I was 12 yrs old, I'm 77 now. The first time I saw them was at my aunts house in Virginia. Instantly fell in love. She gave me leaves. Later in my 30s, I had 350 at one time. Now only about 20. Just enough to keep my fingers dirty. 😂 great presentation. I do mine the same as you. I have wicked for years and grow under lights. Thanks for your time. Look forward to more.
Hi Stephen & Matt Merry Christmas 🌲🍷 This was a lovely story took me way back to my Nanas era when she grew A violets inside her place in Sydney on a beautiful plant stand which we both watered in their saucers once a week not top of violet they were outstanding as it was filtered light & a warm position Happy memories always with her ! Lovely pretty plant A " Happy Plant" Thanks for this beautiful story Guys Happy Gardening 👍🌸🐝🦟🌲
Thank you guys & to Annette for showing all about African violets I had an idea but learnt so much more love them I don’t have one but that will change 🙌😻 merry Christmas and a happy new year 🎉from port Macquarie nsw 🐨🎄
Hi Stephen & Matt Merry Christmas 🌲 Great Video took me down memory lane with a few 🥲back too my childhood with my beautiful Nana who grew the violets in her house in Sydney in warm filtered light position on a great big bronze plant stand both of us water only in the saucer - not top watering once a week they thrived & Nana called them the " happy Plant" Annette knows her great techniques in growing these beauties Thanks again for sharing Guys Happy Gardening 👍🌲🌸🐝🦟
Wow, that was amazing. So much learned, that lady is truly the expert. I also began immediately wondering about my home conditions. I have grown them, and lost them, over many years. Loved this episode! Thanks!
What an absolutely fascinating, very informative deep dive! Thank you so much to both of you and Annette for sharing such a lot of wonderful info and tips!
Great video! Learned more about African violets than I ever thought I would. Fascinating plants! They remind of primroses in appearance, but similar to peperomia in propogation method. Weird!
That was amazing. My mum always had African violettes i have her last one i thought i was doing ok with it, but there are a few things i could do. Thanks for the inspirational and educational video. I belong to a gardening friends group here in Melbourne, and there is always something interesting going on, days to work on the Garden and social activities to attend. So worth joining a plant/gardening group.
Hello from Lisbon, Portugal, to you in the oposite side of the planet. Now I have to replant all my African Violets, as so much I´ve learned here. Thank you for this video and say hello to Annette, and hope to grow all my AV the way she explained here. Lots of meaningful information. Thanks a lot!
What a wonderful video. I remember having them in my childhood, it was a popular house plant back in russia in the 70s and 80s :) Now i think maybe i should give them a go. They are so utterly collectable :)
I was very surprised to see this video. Never know what you guys will be doing. This was excellent information for anyone who wants to start African violets. Thank you for the video.
Lovely and very informational. Would have also loved an intro into pests, in the past i got mealy bugs, and, due to the sensitive leaves, I read you do not spray them at all, so I lost them all.
I love AV but I haven’t been very successful in the past but with this tutorial I will try again very informative I’m from Urunga in the mid north coast of nsw
Happy New Year. This video is exceptional. Really terrific that you provide this information. Question: have you grown or know a grower of the endangered underground orchid of Western Australia called Rhizanthella gardneri? What a strange creature! It is symbiotic with broom bush too.
I have grown these lovely plants many times over the years, and they always do fantastic, then decline and die! So frustrating ! I now live in south west coastal Florida, the heat and sun intensity make me wonder if they could do well. I have only seen 😢very plain poor varieties here, I would love to try again.
Excellent information thank you . I’m loving these specialized growers series, I now grow begonias from seed . Can you find a Clivia grower , I’ve had a plant for years but it never flowers !
Texas here. I have heard AV do not like water on the leaves or having their leaves touched. I have limited success. They do great for awhile, then droop and fade.
Hi guys great to see you guys again,Happy new year 2025. You guys make fascinating videos with humour too. I'm english but am in malaysia at the moment. Take care fellas and keep up the great vids

Although I'm aware of the plant I don't know of anyone who is trying to grow it . Regards Stephen

We have a Clivia grower in our sights but he doesn't know yet! Regards Stephen
Thanks for another highly informative video. Do you know what cultivar the variegated one that Steven is holding at the end is?
Sorry but we don’t know. Regards Stephen
@@thehorti-culturalists Ok, thanks for the video!
😊
Thanks for watching!
My flowers are always mixed in the leaves and not sticking up like these ones
It could all about the plant variety! Some have a more upright habit than others. Regards Stephen
Texas here. I have heard AV do not like water on the leaves or having their leaves touched. I have limited success. They do great for awhile, then droop and fade.
It could be a combination of factors! The video details many important points for success. Regards Stephen
Living in Northern USA, east window is best. West and south too hot. North too cold and low light.
You have to just for the hemisphere just as we have to with much we see from the northern one. Regards Stephen
