I’m fairly new to serious mountain biking after decades of riding/racing off-road motorcycles. Videos like this pretty much match what I’m seeing at Sandy Ridge, Oregon wherein large numbers of bike riders are attempting jumps for which their skills aren’t even remotely good enough. I used to think the motorcycle ranks were full of idiots but the mountain bikers are much worse. That said, keep it up!! 😊
It’s the advent of 29 inch wheels. They give lesser riders a false sense of security because they can roll over terrain so much easier than the old 26ers.
I'm ex moto. After my first crash, I had to switch my brakes, front-right side. The other thing, especially watching how a lot of these bikes respond, is their suspension is set up wrong, way too much rebound, but then not enough support in other cases. All of us will crash, trying to push it. My advice: have someone tune your suspension, and dial it in. But yeah, some are sending it past their skills.
Jesus...guy at 7:40 got me at the front of my seat like in the nature documentaries when the stupid animal is about to be snatched and they running right into it 😫
@@AretedubsI’m pretty sure with all the adrenaline rushing through him he wasn’t thinking and it’s basically an unwritten rule to get off the trail if you crash especially if it’s at the landing of a jump
When you know a crash is coming, it's the ones with the rocks and trees that really scare you. Then you've got #59 at 5:45. No rocks or trees, but yeesh, that's two full seconds of serious midair regret.
I am sure I am not the only one who has noticed that a whole lot of these fails would be avoided if the rider did not smash the front brake. Is it instinct or something?
I don’t know, in many cases the reason they’re out of control is they aren’t using the front brake at all, and the terrain is too steep for rear-only - thus they can’t control their speed. That, and simply riding like a wet noodle.🤣
Gotta compress and pull up a bit pre take off, jumps, drops Main reason these happen. The bike doesn't do that naturally even if it seems like it would.
Maybe you think a lot of these front wheel washers come frome brakeing. But the most time itˋs bad balace, too much pressure on the front wheel and your bar will twist and off yougo.
I've done like all these crashes, way back in the day, never being seriously injured. Now, watching this at 50+, there's not one single crash in this compilation I think I'd survive today. 😆
After watching highly skilled rider videos doing awesome stuff, I get amped up and start thinking I can do that too. But after watching one of these fail videos, it brings me back to reality and no doubt saves me a lot pain and suffering.
Just a few days ago, I fell off my bike and face planted into the Pavement. The doctor said I'm lucky I didn't get an orbital eye fracture. As soon as I'm healed, I'm gonna get back on my bike and go for a ride. Because that's what I like to do is ride a bike.😊
I'm a girl, but I trained in the more brutal (now banned) martial arts for 26 years. Lots and lots of sparring against men two or even three times my weight (I'm 5' 6" and 9½ stone). It was mutually agreed that pulling punches simply wasn't cricket, so... So we didn't. Whilst I was being thrown about, choked, punched, chopped, kicked, and generally beaten to a pulp by some genuinely sweet and decent guys, I learned that a grunt is always better than a squeal; a grunt just means that a man's been winded; a squeal suggests that something important's dropped off.🤪
I did all that fun stuff as a kid back in the days. All We had were hard Tail No shocks 😂 Now I much rather hike and use my ATV. It has 4 nice soft tires And Shocks ❤
OMG auch... Great compilation. And yeah I guess in a lot, if not most of the cases, a too speedy advance on the parts of trails ahead, seems the issue... But well, we race. We fall... it happens. Last year the only thing bugging me was a broken rib on the right and under it a cracked one. It heals...slow,...but it heals. Good luck healing!
That shit is crazy! I think my friend and I have 3 - 4 clips on friday fails by now (last clip of 278 for example), and we still halve already two more in stock. The sport is kinda dangerous, but still so addicting.
Most of these aren't even riding mistakes as such. Most are just people riding way beyond their capabilities. Scary shit when you can see way before the crashes that they have no control over what they're doing.
Yes, true; but that's how testosterone works. 😁Chucking yourself down a mountain is better than street fighting or joyriding in stolen cars. If they were the kind of guys who only ever took calculated risks and operated within safe limits they'd be at home playing chess against a computer, not seeking thrills in the hills. I suppose their parents are just grateful that they're 'getting it out of their system' on mountain bikes, not motorbikes. They may come home battered and bruised, but at least they'll come home (mostly) alive. And when they're older and have kids of their own... Well, you know how it goes: "You take care out there! In my day we NEVER took stupid risks..." Yeah, right. At least most of them are wearing safety gear.
I salute every single one of these riders. Hope they're all healthy, safe and still riding strong ❤
Correction: Hope they are all healthy, safe and riding strong AGAIN 😂
I rather doubt that all had been healthy directly afterwards.

Absolutely 😃
I really feel for the riders that end up in trees. Damn trees don't budge for nothing 🤕
N°92 here, I am alive and well, thank you for your concern : )

Where was that? Looks very familiar, like one of the courses on the world cup downhill calendar.

I just dig how we are all glued to these like that could be us on any given ride. Thank you so much for Friday!

Hugging the trees relaxes. There are so many relaxed people in this video.
My hugged tree is off this compilation but I feel those guys.

New mountain bikers really do have a special ability to turn small jumps into MASSIVE crashes.
#37 has to be Fail Of The Year. The daring! The blind panic! The distance! Exemplary. The only thing missing is the radar trace from the local ATC.
totaly agree ....
100%
I second this, 100 percent
***fall to the ground you lil' piece of metal! I'm not ready for such flights***

Thank you PinkBike. Merry everyone and a Happy New Year 🎊🍻🥂🍾🎉🤙🫶

Totally!! 👍🏻
Watched #59 a good few times over. Serious airtime indeed.
Seriously! Is that the same gap drop Dylan Stark did this year?
Yep@@wpf312
I thought #49 was pretty crazy too! Such a long fall
I'm pretty sure that's the same road gap that Josh Bender and Wade Simmons hit in New World Disorder 3?

I love this. Thanks for sharing. Ouch!
the brakingpower of trees is just amazing 😅
As someone with a permanently broken collar bone from a sudden tree stop,I resemble that remark😳
And the breaking power of trees is pretty nasty too ;)
Someone should install abs on them
My friends: Are you wearing a full face? Do you also pee sitting down?
Me: So I guess you don't watch Friday Fails?
Boy they sure know how to re-monetize the bumbling ;) Great edit, here's to more fails in 2024!!

I would love to see number 49 from a different angle . The fall was so long and deep and came so unexpected

The best MTB slam compilation I've seen. Nice work. 👍
These slams were not recorded in vain.
total carnage great stuff
The last one is hilarious. Imagine bouncing off a tree and before you even hit the ground, your friend yells "you're good!".
I love the dedication of their role as the cameraman to watch the person roll down the hill and not say a word

What an excellent place for a gate at 8:10 😂
It appears that many riders may change their life in a dramatic fashion. These vids are educational to say the least.
People asking if their buddy is alright before they are even done rolling will never not be funny to me.
'Tis but a scratch...😁
Atleast some don't atleast laugh
Thank you

thx im on the first one
The last word in first clip is fuck in polish, I’m Australian
#49! The worst is that and just feeling your bike grab you and not being able to detach
i think this does a good job showing how crazy important helmets are. most of these crashes could easily be fatal without them!! insane

How did those trees feel?
Great study ... I'm taking notes ...
Man some of these slams look more painful than a supercross crash!
The majority of super cross crashed are more painful but mtb some pretty bad crashes bcz of the trees and rocks
Right away I gotta say that I laugh every time I hear someone say"Awwww, I got that on film" 😆👏🏼😆
