That would be the reason for Apple to add an Outtakes function, the opposite of Favorite where one touch sends it there. Most of us cull images in several sessions. Apple instead seems ok with our disappointment in the real-world limitations they design in to a product.

Glaring omission is that iphone photo albums can't be shared outside the iphone ecosystem, ie; your android friends don't have icloud accounts or access to icloud albums or multiple pics/vids. Best way to share is with Google Photos, better search and photo organization plus original quality pics and vids can be shared across multiple platforms via links
After nearly a decade on Android, I’m considering a switch to iPhone in coming months. Photo management is the main thing I’ve been unsure of, since Google Photos seems superior to Apple’s app (as well as offering more free storage). This video was very helpful in demonstrating that Apple Photos does have greater functionality than might be otherwise apparent-though I may still stick to Google Photos on iOS, at least to begin with.
I’ve just got my firs iPhone, I’ve been on android since the beginning. Some tips are helpful but I still miss a lot of things like moving photos between folders and albums, able to control what folder to sync. For example managing WhatsApp media. It’s way easier in android vs iOS. I used to move the pics I liked to a separate folder in android and also Google Photos to back it up along with photos from camera, and not the entire WhatsApp folder filled with all the junk forwards from tens a of different groups. This unfortunately isn’t possible in iOS. There’s no way of choosing what to sync. No way of accessing photos outside photos app. This has become an annoyance. I know people suggest to use iCloud or just suggest alternative ways like copying to a computer etc but I’ve Google subscription with tons backed up content and alternative methods are way too tedious. I think Apple should be bit more lenient on these things.
Like most things on UA-cam found by accident and just happened to explain exactly what I didn’t know in a very careful delivery so as not to confuse.. certainly got presentational skills to put it across as well as all the `tech stuff ‘. Added to subscribe and the weekly newsletter . Thank you
I’m on my fourth video and all are now saved to Favorites folder. Each topic so clearly explained without the theatrics some use in videos. Keep up the great work.
I find your channel extremely helpful. You do speak clearly but with some speed. I’m in the U.S. so your accent takes me a bit longer to understand. Would it be too costly to add closed captions to your videos? In any case, thank you for your carefully prepared, professional presentations.
If you tap on the screen while UA-cam is playing you’ll see some icons appear in the upper right of your screen. Tap on the settings icon that looks like a gear and you can change playback speed. 75% works great for me. There’s no distortion to his voice. It’s very clear and understandable . Also look for the transcript of his videos. Very helpful! And with his timestamps, you can move right to the topic you’re interested in implementing. I love this guy’s work!
Nice summary. One cautionary note about shared albums - Apple applies compression to photos and videos in Shared Albums, so the image quality is not as good as content in your regular Albums. For instance, video in a Shared Album is only stored at a resolution of 720p. There are also some limitations on the control you have over Family Sharing.
Thank you! I found you by needing to know how to 'add' Albums to a Folder. You're right! It is WAY to difficult and time consuming! Thanks for teaching me how to do it (although it would have been helpful to actually go through each of the required steps. I DID figure out how to do it once you described how, but it would have been helpful if you actually did each step. Perhaps you can do one on just that (or maybe you already have one that I have not discovered yet). May I suggest that an influencer like you could appeal to apple to make it easier for this function: hopefully, they would listen to someone like you (you have more clout than I do!). Again, thank you for creating these videos and for you help!
Absolutely spectacular information, always delivered clearly and with simple-to-follow steps. I always learn something when viewing your programs. Thanks from Canada.
I really wish we could have a way to search for uncategorized photos. After a while using the app, we accumulate trash or duplicate pictures, or forget to add that last photo to its specific themed album. I would like to have this option available to quickly sort the new and forgotten content into its specific categories.
Love listening to all your clearly stated information along with your accent! And yes, I do appreciate all your advice slowly to process and well organized! On another note…….Do we see a wedding ring on your finger?
In my opinion this is the most useful video to master using iPhone gallery!! I'm glad to find this channel.. Could you please elaborate on how to use the 3 finger pinch in to copy and paste the same in the same device.!!!!
FIRST: One item never discussed is the evolution from: 1) taking a picture and seeing that photo when you look open iPhoto app 2) then taking that photo to put in a newly created album in My Albums-then change your mind and want to “delete” the newly created album. Note: I have discovered that moving a recent taken photo to a newly created album in My Albums…and then deleting the same photo from the “recents” photo group---will delete the photo from the newly created album. But you can recover the photos from recently deleted--BUT here’s the point, in order to keep the photo in your newly created album YOU MUST KEEP IT IN [Recents], which is counter to the purpose. You want to move the photo FROM RECENTS so that your Recents folder does not have hundreds of photos. SECOND I always connect my phone to my Mac>open iPhoto on my Mac to import my photos>then copy and paste to a specific album. On your phone this section is called [From My Mac]. Question: is there anyway to interface the album groups on your phone within the From My Mac group of albums and the [Recent] photo captured group of photos. For example, say you have an album called Airplanes, and that album is under From My Mac. You then see an airplane and take its photo. That new picture is found in Recents…so can you send that recent airplane photo directly to your Airplanes Album within the From My Mac group. Note: Now that Apple has closed down our loved iTunes>shifting all interface and syncing to run through Finder. One inconvenient process this new interface presents is that iTunes would had the option to [select] and leave selected the photo albums desired to sync with your phone>BUT NOW forced to use Finder>selecting phone in the sidebar>open tools>now each and EVERY-TIME one has to re-select the same albums again.
I wish you lived at my house. 🙂 Thank you for your incredibly clear, concise, thorough and enlightening videos. Pretty much every good trick I know on my Apple devices, I learned from you. I will think of you with gratitude every time I can actually find what I’m looking for!
When searching photos by media type, it would be really helpful if Apple would add a filter for black-and-white pictures. As a much older person, I have a lot of black and white photos that I have copied of ancestors long gone. I’d love to be able to search that, as I don’t get them all at once, I get them from time to time and so they are in many different days in my library. I have been trying to caption them when I copy them and put a designation of B&W at the end so I can search that way. But a black-and-white filter would be more helpful still.
I'm going to take a nap right now. It's Saturday afternoon. I am sleepy. And then I am going to watch this video when I am more awake. Thank you thank you
This is a fine presentation full of top information and Tips about the photo app. Finally I can use it properly. It`s a whole new now…. Thank you PHT ❤
A TIP: pictures from my travels are usually a great number and it time consuming to find the pictures and videos you want to use in I trip video. Mark all pics and videos as favorites. In this way it is just to pick the pics and videos you want to use in the trip video.
Is there a way to separate the camera roll from all other pictures? My camera roll, screen shots, Facebook pics are all mixed into one folder - Recent. That's very frustrating.
I had an awkward iPhoto moment. I texted a pic to someone that I didn’t realize I’d shot in live mode. I now know that if you hold down a live mode photo it’s a little video complete with sound. I said something I shouldn’t have while taking the photo
It amazes me how much there is to learn no matter what I thought I already knew. You do a great job of explaining relevant functions. Thanks! Just subscribed.
Great Overview! I don't think you talked about copy/paste picture edits from one photo to another. You can now edit a photo and if you have another photo that was taken in the same area, you can apply the same edits to a previous photo that was edited to the new one by simply copying the edits and pasting the edits. I think this feature is pretty good and haven't been talked enough! Thanks for a detailed video.
Very informative. Thank you. Please help!!! The reason I headed here was because I’m trying to rearrange images in albums to no avail. Went to albums, …, sort, custom order, held down and tried to move to new location. This did not work. What am I doing wrong? Oh yeah I’m on iPhone 12
Brilliant video! Subscribed. I’m a power user and even I learned a few great tips so thank you! I always remember where I took a photo more-so then when I took it, so I actually use the map feature a lot to help find and navigate my huge library. This is in addition to loads of albums and folders. iOS 16 search is crazy good being able to find the smallest text in some unexpected (yet always accurate) locations. I have found that feature immediately beneficial! I just wish I could move albums between folders and have more high level file management editing options within the Photos App. Thanks for the video - keep it up!
Nice video. I do have questions! If i "unsync" my phone photos from the cloud... do all the photos disappear from my phone? But the photos in the cloud remain safe? This would save space on my phone right? Is there an option to keep one or two albums only on my phone? Probably not. But I could always send my 30 favourite photos back to my phone via cable connection. Also is there a way to give a ton of photos to someone including the info /captions etc , without setting up a shared account? Would that be via a usb device? The idea being that I might delete them all after the recipient receives them. I'm no expert (obviously!). Any help clarifying any of these queries would be cool. :)
Thanks for this! I am trying to clear up space in my iCloud, specifically with my photos. I don’t want to lose any, but can’t figure out how to do save some safely. Can you do a video on that? Thanks
As I find this video, I'm late in the process, as I have over 29,000 photo's in the app. Far too many to give individual names to, so as mentioned at the beginning of the video, if/when I want to show someone a particular image, it can take a very long time to find it...thus, that's why I'm here.
Great video… but is there an option to edit/adjust the small clip of video footage that memories automatically selects? Often find this needs a little tweak. Thx
You know what’s annoying? The fact that we can’t delete the original photo once we have moved it to a new album. Would be nice if we can just keep one. That’s annoying. People don’t touch on that. Would be nice if there was a way.
The current idea of Album is that it is just a superficial place where certain photos can be viewed together. But I get you are saying, and I too strongly believe we should have a feature, where once we move certain photos to a 'location', than we should be able to see all photos except those that were added in the 'location'. Managing photos would be much more simpler if we get this option.
Great vid! Like the filters on the Library tab. Here’s one for you - swipe up on any photo > go to the bottom > ‘Show in All Photos’ = great for when you want to see more photos from related to a ‘Favourited photo’
I would love to learn if I can have control over choosing the featured photos under memory. It would be nice to have control of it for screen widget purposes without using third party app
when you organize your photos into an albun can you have the photos dissapear from main library so that when you go back you know where you were and you are not placing same photos into album that you did at different time. thanks in advance

IOS 16 will allow you to lock the hidden album. Finally we will be able to properly hide all our dirty photos 😂
😂😂😂
Phew!!
It’s so embarrassing when people see pics of a dirty room or car
Yeah not organise them into folders though
@@MaxPowers1245 Maybe in another 10 years Apple will facilitate that 😂
Glaring omission is that iphone photo albums can't be shared outside the iphone ecosystem, ie; your android friends don't have icloud accounts or access to icloud albums or multiple pics/vids.
But Google Photos are not as private.
Literally NOTHING is private with Google!
Thanks for info, I didn't know, I don't use google photos though
Did you get any solution bro? I too have the same problem.@@hegdevishwa
Excellent tutorial! Straight to the point, clear audio, good visual instructions, well organized. Thank you! This was very helpful!
I find your channel extremely helpful. You do speak clearly but with some speed. I’m in the U.S. so your accent takes me a bit longer to understand. Would it be too costly to add closed captions to your videos? In any case, thank you for your carefully prepared, professional presentations.
Closed Captions are already available on my videos! Just press the CC button on the UA-cam player.
@@ProperHonestTech Now you know why I need your channel. Thanks.
On the other hand, capacity of Shared Albums is effectively unlimited so if you’re running out of space it’s a useful lifeboat…
@@TonyG579PoppyG579 There’s a limit of 5,000 photos and videos (combined).
Wow, this video was amazing. It will enable me to transform my photos into something I can regularly enjoy instead of struggling through.
Came across this video by accident. It has been so helpful since I did not know half of what was possible.
Thanks
Your videos are unbelievably crisp and sharp.
11 pro max and 14 pro max here
One of the best tutorials for the Photos App I’ve seen!
I really wish we could have a way to search for uncategorized photos. After a while using the app, we accumulate trash or duplicate pictures, or forget to add that last photo to its specific themed album. I would like to have this option available to quickly sort the new and forgotten content into its specific categories.
100% agree
Love listening to all your clearly stated information along with your accent! And yes, I do appreciate all your advice slowly to process and well organized! On another note…….Do we see a wedding ring on your finger?
Thanks for your kind words! And yes, my wife and I tied the knot earlier this year!
Thank you so much! I learned so much about navigating the photos app that I didn’t know before.
In my opinion this is the most useful video to master using iPhone gallery!! I'm glad to find this channel..
Could you please elaborate on how to use the 3 finger pinch in to copy and paste the same in the same device.!!!!
FIRST:
One item never discussed is the evolution from: 1) taking a picture and seeing that photo when you look open iPhoto app 2) then taking that photo to put in a newly created album in My Albums-then change your mind and want to “delete” the newly created album.
SECOND
I always connect my phone to my Mac>open iPhoto on my Mac to import my photos>then copy and paste to a specific album.
This is so helpful. I never knew I could do all this with photos. I have subscribed. Your tutorials are so easy to follow. Thank you
I'm going to take a nap right now. It's Saturday afternoon. I am sleepy. And then I am going to watch this video when I am more awake. Thank you thank you
Great video! It’s crazy how much is in an app. I consider myself fairly knowledgeable, but I see tons here in the video that I had no idea. Humbling.
In iOS 16 now you can tap and hold an item within a photo and then choose copy and paste it anywhere on any other app without the background
Another amazing, concise video. Well done.
This is a fine presentation full of top information and Tips about the photo app. Finally I can use it properly. It`s a whole new now…. Thank you PHT ❤
Hi from Sénégal thank you so much learnt so much from your video really appreciate it... Love from Sénégal 😍👍
Amazing, I always enjoy hearing how far and wide the videos are being enjoyed! 🙌🏻
@@ProperHonestTech thanks so much sir.... Yes
Hello from Phoenix Arizona USA. Great video! Thanks for all your hard work. I’ve subscribed
Great Video. I wouldn't never know that 'Photos' had so many features. Thanks and I shared this video
I had an awkward iPhoto moment. I texted a pic to someone that I didn’t realize I’d shot in live mode. I now know that if you hold down a live mode photo it’s a little video complete with sound. I said something I shouldn’t have while taking the photo
Ouch - yes, I can imagine how that might be awkward! 😂
Thank you. Your videos are marvelous. very helpful, clear and easy to listen to. Love your accent.
Really kind of you to say so, glad you're enjoying the content.
Just changed over to iPhone so these videos are great. Thank you.
Absolutely love your channel! Very informative…
Man, I love this channel!
Thank you your presentation is exactly what I needed. You spoke well and clearly. I received a lot of information. Thanks for sharing. Meri
Thanks for this! I am trying to clear up space in my iCloud, specifically with my photos. I don’t want to lose any, but can’t figure out how to do save some safely. Can you do a video on that? Thanks
Great video! You can also get the information pop-up screen by swiping up while viewing any photo.
The albums are just a filter for you to find them faster, they’re not a physically separated place.
It is not a copy
Wish I had known about folders sooner. I’ve started now though. Thanks! 😃
This was so very helpful! I really appreciate your channel so much! Cheers from Texas!
That's great - I am new to iphone and this will get me off and running
Though aware of these somehow always like Google Photos iPhone app that mirrors by iPhone photos app. Simplicity is underrated
Great synopsis of the photo app. New to me was the Live Photo as a wallpaper; loved it!
You can add sub-albums using the Photos app on your Mac. Weird you can't do it on your phone or iPad, but there you are.
when you organize your photos into an albun can you have the photos dissapear from main library so that when you go back you know where you were and you are not placing same photos into album that you did at different time. thanks in advance
The albums are just like a filter so that you don’t need to search your entire library, they’re not a separate physical place on your phone. :)
Visual look up works in Canada as well.
If you have a Mac, then using the Photos app you can move existing albums to a folder. Then wait a bit for iCloud sync.
Seriously one of the best apps on Photos I've seen. Apple needs to package this and recommend it to all iPhone users.
That said: I need to practice saying "Photos" with your accent. Sounds cool as hell !!
I found this video very useful. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by information right now, though.
In reference to the photo app, what is My Photo Stream? I received an email stating that Apple we eliminating My Photo Stream. How can I tell if I have that and what should I do?
That is just the best info on Apple Photos. It’s been driving me mad for years and I’m always looking for an alternative but thanks to your instructive video, I will stick with it. Thank you. - I hate iTunes, too!
YES.
This is priceless information- thanks 🙏👍
