Tom Thumb's wife was in our family tree. No one ever believed us when we said we were related to Tom Thumb.
That is my families cemetery. Many of my extended family are interred in this beautiful cemetery. Lamont, thank you for showcasing Tom Thumb and his wife. PT Barnum is across the way from the Colonel's grave. Merry Christmas Lamont!

I remembered he got pretty famous in his era but was tickled to hear that President Lincoln sent wedding gifts when he got married. He made the most of the cards that fate dealt him! The smallest man in the cemetery but with the biggest headstone. Interesting.
Abraham Lincoln did more than send them gifts he had a wedding reception at the White House for them, "On February 13, 1863, a honeymoon Party was held at the White House for Charles S. Stratton and Livinia Warren."
More than 10,000 people attended his funeral.

I was born prematurely and I only grew to be 4 foot 11. So I know a lot about that guy's life.
The Doctor who invited the incubator for preemie babys. For funding, displaying the babys in a PT sideshow. Ironically the babys in the sideshow did better than the ones in a hospital. Some say it was the canvas tent. The babys got some sun but not too much.
A tall monument for a man with a tall spirit.

some of my family are buried there too. I think PT is also, he was from Bridgeport. I was born in Bridgeport, used to be a nice city back in the 50's. Now it's the pitts, I always wanted to go to that cemetery but too afraid. When Paul Newman was filming some scenes for "The Sting" in Bridgeport, he called the city the "armpit of New England". Haha, I thought it was hilarious as it was so true, those living in Bridgeport weren't too happy! 😛
