He was the better Darrin for sure.
Diffiently
The Best. 🙏🏼
I totally agree, he was the better Darrin
It’s really sad how he died because my grandmothers sister my aunt died the same way which is what made me quite smoking
@@Michelle34485 My mother past the same way 3 years ago. So sad. A tough time. 😞❤️
Even in his last years, he was working hard from his home raising money for the homeless and/or the food banks. From all that I have heard of him, he was a really decent human being.
Makes his ending even more sad,
@@brucegwynn8509 True. He desreved better in his last years..
Yeah me too. It's very sad.
@@PsyphaX09 yes he did , I agree
He was in love with Elizabeth Montgomery. It wasn't returned.
Dick York was the Darren Stephens. Wow, he worked through his pain as long as he could. So sad this all happened to him.
Poor guy,I heard he was having a tough time before he passed away, but I didn't know he suffered so much misfortune in his life R.I.P. Dick York, now you have no more pain.
He can't suffer anymore.
Elizabeth Montgomery refused to help him. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
Jesus said is very hard for the rich to enter heaven, may he rest in peace now
@@harperstacey9604 ... Yes, she was pretty apathetic to his situation. When he had to leave Bewitched, whether on his own terms or being fired, I do not think Liz ever stretched out her hand to even say hello. One reason for this is that she knew that Dick had some feelings for her, even from the very start, though both of them were married to someone else, so she became somewhat cautious of him during the series.
@@robwebnoid5763 Elizabeth Montgomery felt comfortable around Dick Sargent who played the second Darrin because he was gay and he wouldn't have any romantic feelings towards her. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
That is so sad that the Hollywood wouldn’t take care of his medical bill after injuring his back on set or at least sue them.
I'm surprised there NO workman comp
So sad hollywould didnt take care of medical bills 😝😝😝😝hollywould coming to aide their former associates 😝😝😝😝😝😝😝 as the joker (batsy89) leaves the doctors office after he sees his damaged face
Hollywood moguls are heartless.
Back then, actors didn't receive residuals when they left the show or it was cancelled. If they had, Dick would have continued receiving royalties every time an episode was broadcast anywhere, on any network.
Actors didn't receive royalties until 1975. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
On
Back injuries are the WORST..🙏
Back injuries are something you never fully recover from. Liz Taylor fell off a horse when she was a little girl and never completely recovered...it plagued her until the day she died.
@@danielhartin7680 I remember hearing that 🙏🏼😞
I know how it feels to have a bad back I had to stop working because of it I'm in pain all the time I'm on pain killers I take 900 milligrams everyday just to ease the pain
Loved watching Bewitched as a kid! How sad to go from being on a successful TV show to living on welfare in severe pain. I hope he is pain free in heaven!
I'm certain he is.
He is 🙏🏼
Why didn't some of Dick York's Hollywood friends help him? From Ms. Harper Stacey.
@@harperstacey9604 That’s for sure. 😞
Or his 5 children?
That's so sad. My husband ended up in that way. He was a commercial crab fisherman, a hunting guide, and a saddlemaker. He worked so hard. He would do any kind of work to support his family. Then he hurt his back on a crab boat, then subsequent botched back surgery and addiction to pain pills. He died from an accidental drug overdose.
I'm sorry for your loss Robin. My daughter is also an addict who started off popping pain pills she got from her doctor for an injury. She is now on meth and I fear she will eventually overdose as well. I know how hard it is, especially since she is a grown woman and I can't do anything to help her because she doesn't want the help. I pray the Lord to heal your pain. God bless you.
I"m so very sorry, sadly it's not an uncommon story nowadays. My heart goes out to people living with severe pain, the medication is so addictive, one can't help but become physically then mentally dependent over time. It obviously has a very detimental affect on family & friends. I hope you've found some peace in your life.
I`m very sorry to hear your husbands story...
Sorry for your loss
@@SlimKeith11 I shared my story here in another comment. As I am a musician. And even an actor in smaller parts. And I was injured when a second story of a house collapsed. And caused me to fall 20 feet, straight into my head and neck. Broken multiple bones in my neck and lower back spine. And a 2x4 impaled me in the back. I have had my entire music and acting career derailed due to the pain. I have lost movie parts due to not being able to physically do the required work. I have had over a dozen surgeries. And will be having a spinal fusion within the next couple of months. If I was not careful, I could have easily overdosed on pain meds and died already. People just don’t realize how lucky they are to have good health. It is perhaps the most important thing we have in this life. 🤷♂️
That is sad how his final years played out. I did not know that.
He also starred in one of my favorite Twilight Zone episodes, “A Penny For Your Thoughts”. He played a bank clerk who for a day had the ability to hear people’s thoughts. This was before Bewitched.
I believe he was on a Western or two also..
He also starred in an episode of Boris Karloff's Thriller TV show about 1960-61.
Dick York's last appearance on TV was on a episode of Simon & Simon. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
That twilight zone episode also featured Dr. Bellows from i dream of Jeannie
He definitely definitely the best Darrin.
I'm friends with his son Chris on facebook. Dick York has been an inspiration to me as a student studying acting in college. He could play drama and comedy and was amazing in Inherit the Wind
What does his son Chris do for a living? From Ms. Harper Stacey.
Wowww
Thank you Lamont for this video. Dick York was my favourite Darrin. "Bewitched" was my favourite show as a child, and I still watch it today. Jim Carrey kind of reminds me of him. So sad that he was in so much pain. RIP Dick York and his wife.
That would be cool if Jim Carrey could do a biographic movie of Dick York, although he would need to do it very soon as Jim is already starting to look old, even if movies can now digitally de-age actors.
@@robwebnoid5763 Yes I often thought about that.
He reminds me of jim carry too . He’s funny like him too
Loved Bewitched. I still watch the reruns occationally. I liked Dick York better than Dick Sargent
Your right Mr. York was perfect for that part. ❤️
Hello Lamount. Interesting info on Dick York. Thanks for the video, you stay safe out there
RIP Mr and Mrs York. I watched that show as a kid.
Classic case of showbiz chewing you up and spitting you out.
Hey Lamont. 🌹RIP Dick York🌹
I can't even imagine the pain this poor man endured. Resting in Peace!
So sad to hear how he struggled and was almost homeless . This is why you can’t take nothing for granted in life . Life can change at the drop of a dime .
Absolutley loved him in bewitched as a kiddie, may he rest in eternal peace with his family 🇮🇪🙏
Amen ❤️
RIP Richard Allen York (Sep 04, 1928 - Feb 20, 1992) (age 63) you will truly be missed and my prayers go out to you and your family. Thank you for entertaining us the years and I didn't know about his back injury and thank you for telling us about it.
Lamont one of ofmy favorite .. channel
Daaang...I would've never known.
Thanks for this.
I remember Dick York on the Twilight Zone and Hitchcock. He was a great actor in both. He was also great on Bewitched. To me he was the real Darren. RIP to Mr. York and his wife.
He was a favorite to me.Rest in peace Mr. Dick York. Never forgotten.
Janice Williams--
Amen, to That!!
DICK York, is "Gone, But Not Forgotten"!! I Agree!!🌹🌹
I watched the "Bewitched" Show, as a Kid, and to this Day, I Still Miss Watching that Show..😧😧😧
R.I.P to DICK York & Family!!💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐🌸🌷💞💞
The gravies are her parents between them.
I can't even watch Bewitched if Dick Sargent is playing Darin. He's just wrong.
For sure not the same 😞
RIP Mr. York. Never will forget you. You were so funny on Bewitched. 🙏🏼♥️The Best!
I loved that show.. ty for sharing!!! Hope u are well..
A 650 dollar a month pension for two adults ? You would think the Hollywood family of stars could have pitched in bit for one of their own . Mr. York could of had a much better last 3 or 4 years of life , and none of the stars would of missed the amount they gave ,, he gave the ultimate " the show must go on " effort for the business of entertainment and the fans of the show ,, and they couldn't give a little back ? That's a sad state of affairs ... When you are on top , everyone loves you , when you fall , nobody knows you .. Also , the initial accident was " on the job " , didn't Hollywood have workers compensation insurance ? Wouldn't that monthly payment { "time loss check" }{ " permanent disability" } be separate from a pension check ? . It appears that Hollywood forgot all about him , but , good ole Lamont has given us a chance to remember him , Thank You Lamont 😁
That breaks my heart. He was the best Darren. So sad.
You think the movie where he got hurt would have taken care of him
So sad for his pain, he is free of pain now.
I was surprised to learn he was buried locally, and visited his grave back in November. Always loved his work.
Thank you for sharing.
So sad that no one in the film industry did not help. No way for this man to die. R. I. P. You were the better Darrin.
Hi lamont from the UK this is so sad I watched bewitched when I was a kid I didn't know any of this RIP Mr York.
Love the show and I agree he was the better Darren.🙏🏻🇺🇸👮🏻♂️
80 percent of the fans agree that he was the better Darrin. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
So sad. Dick York was in Inherit The Wind with Gene Kelly. Thanks Lamont for remembering him.
Thank you for sharing, Dick York was the best Darrin.
He made a great Derwood!..Rest in Peace Sir
That was so funny when Endora, would call him that 🤣👍❤️
He was a much better choice than the replacement Darrin.
Today, there are options to help correct such an injury, such as low invasive surgeries. Even then, something like that is going to mess you up for life.
York was a great Darin. His facial expressions were marvelous. Somehow I found his address in Michigan and wrote him a letter expressing my admiration for his work. He died shortly afterwards.
Hello from south central Los Angeles
I remember Endora (his mother in law) called him "Durwood" and not Darren in the episodes. LOL
Best show In the 70s......💕 Bewitched......
you sould do story on John List as perfect story for you and it happen in NJ ! I hope u do Elizabeth Montgomery
The best Darrin! I think most people would agree!
I had heard about his back problems! And I did see a report on him before he died. And, it's true, he and his wife were working to help the homeless. Even though they had next to nothing!
The only best Darren Stevens and I loved him on bewitched... Loved Elizabeth Montgomery fav actress and dick York was fav actor....loved him so much ... sad about his health issues and bad back injury 🤕😟😕
Awwwe, that is heartbreaking. always wondered what happen to him. r.i.p.
I have the same lung disease as he did but I quit smoking 7 yrs ago
Good for you. I wish I could quit smoking.
It took when I couldn't walk down the hallway without dying of breath
I have late stage 3 emphazema
@@jolenehendrickson8915 God bless you. I wish you the best!
Love that show
He was my favorite Darrin.. The last one just hit me the wrong way.
Very sad that he and his wife aren't side by side with better headstones..
He played that part well , as Darren Stevens. He was so funny. May he rest in peace.💜
RIH Mr. & Mrs. York. 💔 🙏🏾 🕊
I loved bewitched. I would come home from school have afternoon tea and watch bewitched then do homework before dinner. He was the best Darren.
"They came to cordura" is a very good movie,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
He had outstanding chemistry with Elizabeth Montgomery. The perfect timing, the perfect expressions. There was great chemistry with Larry Tate and Endora, even Uncle Arthur. What a great show to look forward to when I was a kid
I liked him in the film short, "How to be swell", He was swell!
This is a sad story of a man who made me laugh as a kid in that show . Those facial expressions and that voice were priceless. He is Derwood as Andora would put it ,or Darren and he always will be .⚘⭐
So sad
Another story I never would have known if not for you Lamont. Thank you.
He was a good actor
Poor guy
Hey Lamont. Love your channel. Next time your in Kentucky it would be awesome if you did something for Sarah Hanson. Yesterday was the 25th anniversary of her murder in muhlenberg county. Tragic story and I remember it well. Hope you can make it here sometime. We have several stories around the county you might be interested in
The first recorded serial killers in the united states was the Harpe's brothers and one of them was caught and beheaded in central city about five miles from my house
@@shawnbenson871 what happened to the brother, hope got the same!
@@ryveralexander8511 he was caught and hung in another state
The muscles being torn from a spine sounds horrendous! So sad for him and what he went through.
RIP 🪦 🕊
Very nice & i rember bewich too
i've just had an accident on my bike a week ago, i busted 2 ribs and got road rash on my arm, the hospital said it will hurt. but its got way more than just hurt, the pain has spread from my ribs, in to my shoulder, and in to my back. it's also effected my breathing. i can tell you, this is bad, it's hurting so bad i can't get out of bed. every day i hope it will get better but it hasn't, just the same. Rip Dick. I know your Pain Man.
I had no idea he had sustained such a terrible injury. He was my favorite husband on Bewitched, he was so much fun and quirky. So sorry to hear that's why he had to leave the show.
Back injuries ain't no joke. They can ruin your life.
That is one of the sadder stories. Rest in Peace to both on them. His wife stuck by him to the end. Also a beautiful love story and of devotion.
Rest in peace I remember him from the witch but you have a great day and a great night and be safe bye for now
Assisti muitos episódios da FEITICEIRA. Não tinha conhecimento dos infortúnios dele.....
Um abraço
Was in plainfield township today it was about 20 degrees out with about 6 inches of show on the ground so lamont did this one in the summer, good idea
I know right
Those sorts of incidents happen on sets these days, actors sue and get huge payouts . Watching those old eps we never knew . Gee poor Guy . I loved him as Darrin
Hello.
that is so sad you don't hear these stories
I love Dick York. He was an excellent actor and the most perfect Darren!
What a sad 😢 ending for Richard York; all that smoking made him weak
Remember watching Bewitched all the time on Nick @ Nite back in the late 90s. I had no idea the guy was already gone at that point. RIP Richard. :(
I'm surprised that none of his colleagues, seeing his dire circumstances, stepped up to lend a hand. He knew and was friends with a lot of rich, famous, successful people and none of them could pitch in with some money each month to help out? Maybe they did, but it doesn't seem like it. I would do that much for someone I knew.
Some did- Sandra Gould (Mrs. Kravitz the second) said "some of us" sent him money. His friend Anthony Perkins also sent him money to cover his wife's medical bills.
I knew about his back injury and why he quit the show. But didn’t know how they struggled financially at the end. Very sad. He was my favorite Darrin.
Rip dick York we will miss you 🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️
My mom loved the TV show " Bewitched" just as much as she loved " I Dream of Jeannie"
I remember an interview he did with Howard Stern shortly before he died. He had a job managing properties but was fired because he couldn't bring himself to evict people.
His tenants took advantage of him because he had a kind heart. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
He suffered at the end he suffered alot of misfortune in his life broken hearted bankruptcy first wife left him he did alot of good for homeless people food banks ect he was a great guy rip ur not in pain emotionally or physically anymore condolences to the family and kids
You ended the video abruptedly. That's sad that his life ended in poverty and in constant pain. May he RIP
, I noticed that too. Tabitha must have winked Lamont out of the cemetery?
What a sad tragic story. Thanks as always Lamont for the compassion for these souls.
Sup Lamont?
I remember this story very sad end of life...you would think that his fellow actors would have helped him out ..
He was the better Darrin..RIP DICKIE
I am 64 now, grew up in Japan
I couldn't wait to come Home from
School, and watch bewitched American tv show 👌
It was such a good old. Days 🌹
RIP Darren 🙏
Please visit the grave of Marilyn Monroe she’s at the Westwood village memorial park in Westwood village in Los Angeles
He was the best Darrin in Bewitched. I've always enjoyed his acting in anything he's played in. The last time I saw him alive he was on The Jerry Lewis Marathon and he was in a wheelchair and on oxygen but trying to raise money for the marathon. RIP Dick York.
Appreciate that history of how his injury occurred. Truly enjoyed him on TV. Rip.
Bewitched was my favorite show ever!! Elizabeth Montgomery always the most beautiful actress!! May Dick York rest in Pease!! Just so sad that he was in such pain!! I thought he was a great Actor!!
I’ve had a lifetime of back pain due to a fall on ice. Been through one back operation and said no to a massive spinal fusion fifteen years ago as it would’ve entailed rods, screws, pins and cadaver bone. The fall affected all aspects of my life and wage earning potential. The doctors don’t want to prescribe like they did years ago to protect their licenses and reputations. Meanwhile, people with legitimate disabilities suffer. It’s sad he died relatively young in his early sixties. He’s free of pain now.
I live 2.5 hours from his grave in Plainfield Cemetery in Rockford Michigan. If I'm ever near there, I will stop and pay my respects. He was my favorite actor from the show. When he left the show that ended me watching it.
