Woah, there tiger. These demos are useful to have an idea of their tonality relative to other stuff, but they definitely don't sound like the real thing at all in the slightest. On top of that you need to understand that your own equipment is going to color the sound of the video. There's too many variables that change the end result and prevent you from just drawing a conclusion based on these recordings. Thankfully the video isn't just sound demos, lol.
btw, learn how to read graphs.

Was considering the Aria, but after hearing those harsh cymbal hits and almost metallic timbre (at least that's what I hear as a baby; I'm not an audiophile, I just trust those who are, haha), and how smooth and accurate they sound on the T3+, it was a no-brainer for me. This format and quality of audio review/comparison is really great Dan. I can really hear a difference with my moondrop quarks! Trying to listen to this both through my phone and laptop with avani dongle, it's easier for me to tell the difference through the laptop. They all sound pleasing enough through my phone, but I feel the technicals show better through my laptop. I agree with everything that you explained about each IEM throughout all tracks. I was saving up for the Arias, but I think I'll probably going for the T3+. Reason being that I'm going for that true "natural" sound signature. A lot of people reviewed the Arias being a fun neutral/natural sounding IEM, and like you mentioned, it doesn't sound as "natural" as it should be compared to how the T3+ does it. What I can pick off to describe the difference is that the Aria sounds a bit thin. Not much weight to it compared to the T3+. Aria definitely isn't bad, but for my preference going for as "natural" as possible, the T3+ wins this one for me. The details sounds fuller and heftier through the T3+ based on the recordings.
The Mele was exactly as you described it through my laptop. It focuses so much on bass that it overwhelms everything else. You can still make out those details, but not as prominent as the bass. It sounds more enjoyable through my phone though. I think it's still a steal especially at that price range.
As for the obsidian, it definitely sounds similar with the T3+ tonality wise, but probably due to better quality drivers it sounds clearer, tighter, and more controlled. The bass sounds cleaner and have more oomf to them compared to T3+. Through my laptop, the highs sound a bit harsher on the obsidian though.
Overall the T3+ sounds the most casual and easy to listen to. Which I dig haha.
I know these kinds of videos take a lot of effort to make, so I hope you still continue to do more of these. I think this is really good for helping people get a better grasp of which IEM they'd decide on buying.

@@jepppuu Yup. Been using them daily now. They sound very close to how they are recorded in this video. Very natural sounding, almost kinda bland and boring at times when you get used to them because of how natural its sound signature is. Details are very much there, and it works well with most songs I listen to like Dance Gavin Dance, Future core/bass, intrumentals, anime, and even when I use them for games. I use mine with Avani dongle to make it sound even better through my phone and laptop. If you like how it sounds in this video, then you'll love how it sounds in person too. Just don't expect it to be mindblowing or anything. If you've listened to it through this video multiple times, your experience won't be as exciting the first time you heard it here.

If you can push for around 100usd, the Tripowin Olina is a popular suggestion at that price bracket. I also own a set of Melee's and was pleased to hear that your recording of them is faithful to the sound quality that I experienced with my own set. This is good for me to know as I now have confirmation that your recordings are in line with what I hear with my own ears (obviously colored by whatever IEMs/headphones I listen with) For me the T3 plus and T2 Plus definitely sound better with my library (Mostly Jazz and Classic Rock with a sprinkling of Classical - yeah I know it's wierd) than the Meles. I really like your efforts to give us detailed audible comparisons of these IEMs through the medium of UA-cam. I came across your Kato Moondrop review on my M1 iPad Pro last night. I was genuinely surprised that I immediately could hear real differences between the IEMs. I was even getting sound stage differences with the iPad - the Katos gave me some highs astonishingly further to the left than the others. I could hear clear differences constantly without knowing what might actually be going on. I had already ordered the Katos before finding your review, and quite frankly your demos of the Katos sounded consistently harsh on the iPad. So I listened to this 'under $100 'video on my M1 Mini through an iFi Zen Dac into my old Sennheiser HD 598SE cans which I like just fine. Listening to this video I can consistently hear what you are talking about in your commentary. Yes, I agree the MELE is just listenable and I would consider buying them if I find the KATOS tiring. I wouldn't consider the Arias, but the T3's clarity is attractive and would have probably saved me $100, but am not upset that I paid the $189 for the Katos. A couple of notes you may find useful since you say you read your comments. I'm old and notice the Mele triggers memories of concerts and listening to recordings in 60s, 70s and 80s. Yes it has a 'style' - and I like it. But I love clarity and detail too - banjo to string quartets. Big massed sounds like Wagner to that heavy rock track you played - not so much. Finally, I specifically bought the Katos to listen to binaural beats recordings that attempt to entrain the brain to sub-audible frequencies by getting two audible higher frequency sounds to beat against each other at a lower sub-audible frequency - say 4 Hz. I was attracted to the Katos reputation for clarity in the base region which I hope will enhance the sub audible beating and therefore augment the entrainment I'm looking for. Thanks again!

Mele = Vocals are pushed back a bit, generally non fatiguing & easier to listen to for longer though not as exciting (sound wise) as the T3.

      Opposite for me. Maybe?
Almost sold it to get aria or tanchjim ola instead. Many people recommend aria for vocal but t3+ has similiar graph yet vocal sounds fuller on demo.
But dude, the sub bass is too fatiguing for me. Later i tried poweramp equalizer app. I use lower shelf to reduce bass, band pass to slightly raise the upper mid, and peaking band to add some airyness. It become vocal heaven for me. Now i know why crinacle said this iem is 5/5 but still has potential.
For people on tight budget out there. Dont get audiofooled. Dont buy expensive cable or eartips to expect magic. Learn about parametric eq not graphic. Also choose the right iem with no problematic problem to your preference instrument. For me as vocal lover, it has good timbre, balance and no sibilance. (And beautiful design too)

Thanks for this informative video. While reading online reviews had me leaning to the Aria, I ordered the T3+ after this video. It's the best one overall for almost all genres. The Mele and Aria shine through very rarely. The T3+ gets it best (and awesome) 98 times out of 100 for me.

The tonality of Mele and Aria sometimes do hit the sweet spots on certain tracks, out of the two I think I might prefer Mele for its rich, nostalgic and analogue sound. I personally find Aria sounds especially good with female vocals, however also feels like something else is missing in the other frequencies. T3+ on the other hand might produce lesser of magical moments but should sound more consistent across different tracks and genres with its balance approach. If I am to randomly pick songs from my library to listen to, I think I might go with T3+.

The Moondrop Aria arrived. The first track I ran on the Arias- Here with you now on UA-cam Music..
MY JAW JUST DROPPED 😮 WOW ❤️ the details 👌🏼
Soundtrack timestamp- From 00:55 secs still 1:40 the track is really fast and I listened it at 80 percent volume I thought my ears would bleed knowing about the fatiguing highs on the Arias, but that was exactly the opposite it was super awesome quite energetic I must say.
And @1:42 of the soundtrack- Here with you now, the sense of spaciousness that Aria created at that point, left me spellbound,
Moondrop Aria is a gem 💎 Acoustics feels like I can't explain in words, when acoustic guitar is played the vibration and decay of each string struck made my heart melt. Timbre is so natural especially Acoustics feels so warm and homely.
Although here in this video Aria got critical, but I hoped for high standards from this IEM and it delivered it beautifully; that's the most important point, like u said, one should enjoy what they listen, & I enjoyed music that too after years. 😄
Thanks Dan, even if Aria is a B+ category IEM, I still consider them exceptional because B+ is also good and is in good books. Isn't it?

What a great channel! Thank you for this review and sound impression. It helped me in choosing my iem. It was a tough pick at first. Struggle between Mele or T3 Plus. Finally picked the T3 plus. All I can say is, if you want that 'live concert' feeling or you wish to be at the concert, pick the Mele. But if you want that relaxed and just want to enjoy the music, easy pick Tin T3 Plus.

I really love your reviews with sound demo as after I listened to your videos with demo I had understand on what are the best IEM's on my part as recordings and on hand sound of IEM has really a difference, and yes having the T3 Plus and the Aria, the T3 Plus seems a better pair to me (making me to give my Aria to my dad who likes darker treble which I felt between the two). Though still can't replace my main driver, the KATO in terms of technicalities and performance in my part but for $70, dang if it was just released earlier I'll probably not get the KATO and to be satisfied on it for a very long time.

    • @kze_music
      @kze_music 3 роки тому +3

@@shameermohamed4345 In my opinion the Aria and T3 Plus are neck and neck I could say, I just prefer the T3 Plus more because due to I felt it has more details and better extension in the highs (which is why I choose T3 Plus over the Aria) and also the fit felt better on the T3 Plus (even compared to the KATO making it the most comfortable). The Aria is still nice or better on the T3 in terms of technicalities and also the bass felt more cleaner, better textured, it felt it has more air and neutral however it felt darker making some of the songs on my playlist especially with female vocals and instruments sounds bland to thin taking out the enjoyment sometimes in my listening sessions.
To the KATO, it felt an upgrade to the Aria about 20-40% I would say (due to diminishing returns). The extension of the highs are better and the all through out texture or timbre of the audio experience. The staging of the three is almost same to each other having the T3 Plus and the Aria the widest and the KATO less than a very thin margin or equal or greater to Aria in some cases. In details, imaging, and layering which are the most distinct difference I felt among the three, KATO is the best among the three, Aria in between and T3 Plus on last but the difference is very minute to the Aria. The KATO also felt the most resolving and the smoothest sounding (like there is no weird peaks on any frequencies) among the three. The Tin T3 Plus and the Aria however has a slight more bass than the KATO (which some felt lacking but just the right bass for me).
All in all among the three I still felt the KATO is the best among the three (and also the KATO really felt you have 2 IEM's in one due to the tuning nozzles as there is a definite differences on my hearing). In my case it is very worth it as I got the KATO for $140 but at MSRP, I really felt yes if that 20-40% difference/improvement is beneficial or you wanted. And no and go with the Aria and the T3 Plus then if I don't wanted one of them I'll go sell one of them. Or if I had only the chance to go one, I still go with the Tin T3 Plus.

That will be my the final piece of the most renowned near $50 IEMs. Will most likely invest in the Kato as my endgame IEM. This is such an amazing and detailed review. Got the Dunu Titan S and tried out "Dan's Reference V2" playlist. I mainly use this IEM for audiobooks, orchestral, acoustic, and soft rock. Anyway there are certain tracks, such as here with you now and dashboard where the low end is...inadequate (its there but it lacks the wow factor). The T3+ and OH10 on your soundtests really seems to offer an engaging low end perspective with fun treble. Idk what to say about the aria but it does not do so well with this playlist (maybe even the titan s). Your review of the mele is quite informative though. Its the kind of IEM I would use for sleep and relaxation but it just sacrifices too much instrument and vocal clarity.

The Aria & T3 can't compare to the Melee bcz they offer something different (critical listening openness and clarity) but the T3 takes the cake for me. I feel like it just does the better job compared to the Aria. The Aria for me just has the funny in authentic feel for me in the high mids-highs when compared to the T3. That's my take on it. I just received my obsidian based off these sound tests.. Listening with them right now and the recording does a huge disservice to these when comparing them to just listening to the same tracks straight off youtube. Much more clarity and smoothness IRL, and the obsidian heard 2nd hand can have some harshness in some places which simply doesn't happen listening to them directly.
I used to own RHA ma750s which are bang average these days but 5 years ago were considered near top of class under 100, and I noticed something for the first time- I keep expecting with EDM and certain tracks which have the potential for harshness I would brace against it, but the harshness doesn't come, instead of being battered by a wave the OH10 rides it smoothly, although it still has a tonne of energy as shown in these recordings.

For harsh musics (such as hardcore, punk, alt rock, prog metal, etc); both listening to, and as an instrument monitor (I'm a bassist and drummer) playing the same kind of musics, what would you recommend?
I'm still not sure whether it's MELE or T3+ (regardless of them having different price point). I've been using KZ ES4 for the last 2.5 years, been upgraded to Pie Audio DR2 Pro half a year ago but not quite satisfied with it (it's great for jazz though).
If you have other recommendations, I would love to hear more about it. Thanks! Amazing video.
