      @tommy would you recommend these? or the ohlins? i am at 64k miles and do track days once a quarter. 8 max per year. Or would you recommend to simply install the shocks from bilstein?

    Is there a reason for the spring compressor and removing the whole top hat? Some DIY have you remove the center nut and just drop the strut down that way

  • @JakeBM4
    @JakeBM4 10 місяців тому

    Quick question, doing mine next weekend. Can you do the fronts without removing the strut tops aswell? Just brace the hub and undo from the top? Also can you not reuse the front nut for the strut tops, its mentioned this is replaced? I dont have replacement 22mm nuts. Thanks

  • @anshus2395
    @anshus2395 5 років тому +6

    I don't even have an F80, but I love watching your DIY's lol.
    When you adjust the ride height on the rears, will you have to drop the control arm all over again?
    On my F30 with B14's I was told you can't adjust ride height without dropping the control arm and I don't understand why.

    • @Kid_Ellipsis
      @Kid_Ellipsis 4 роки тому

      Anshu S you’ll find that with adjustable spring collars the BMW rear spring upper cup just spins against the chassis when you try to turn the threaded collar. This is why it may be necessary to drop the lower control arm again to make that adjustment. Some people have found that a thin C-clamp on the upper cup gives you enough leverage to prevent it from spinning.

    What other suspension parts are recommended when putting on these coilovers, or are the Bilsteins enough?

    aren't the rear bushings(strut and outer LCA) ball joints? If they are, do they still need to be loaded before torquing down?

    Nice video, just wondering, did you replace any of the nuts and bolts when doing the suspension indexing? BMW parts said not all bolts have to be replaced, but a bunch of the suspension nuts do. Online it says either to replace every nut and bolt that’s loosened or no need to replace, so confused on which approach to take. Thanks!

    Could you do some review on those suspension? in term of ride quality, compare with stock and let's say, the famous kw v3. I heard this one is more like a huge improvement based on the stock feel, other than chancing the characteristic to feel "like a different car" . That sounds like a good fit for an occasionally tracked daily car. Will you recommend Ohlins DFV over this ?

  • @chrflo

    If you exclude the EDC (I have an M2C :P) what are your thoughts on Bilstein vs Ohlins? Thx :)

    Did you follow the measurements for the spring height adjustment specified in the instruction manual? I did the same install and my rear only dropped 1cm compared to the stock ride height.

    Hey Brian, can I use a 16mm wrench (not a pass through) and a T30 torx on a separate wrench to tighten/loosen the sway bar or do I need a pass through wrench only?
    I installed lowering springs and am now getting a clunking noise. I think it’s because I couldn’t tighten the sway bar 100% as I only had a t25 torx
