      This is why delivery of information is important. I can see why you made that assumption, based on the phrasing used in the video. However, that's obviously not the case, once you do the math. They're comparing the value of the industry to one worker's wages. I keep seeing videos like this, and every one of them phrases the information in a way that creates a very negative connotation, while obscuring details and misrepresenting the facts. If he is cutting and polishing the stones as well heat treating, he is likely making a fortune in comparison to the miners. I'm not saying any of it is morally sound, but at least realize what you're being fed.

      They just make stuff up now without knowing what time even is. Ever think about how millions to billions of years is immeasurable and yet so-called scientists talk about knowing what happened that long ago without much doubt when we barely know details of thousands of years ago. So much has been lost and changed in history.

    Anyone remember the stunning pearl choker Princess Diana used to rock? The centrepiece is a huge blue sapphire from Sri Lanka estimated to be 70 carats or more.       Actually - he's probably a scam artist. It's common in the industry to bulk-buy pale gemstones of little value. Apply heat to artificcally enhance their color - viola.
      You make a ton of profit, while the buyer/victim ends up with heat-damaged, fake-color stones not worth much more than glass.

    The deeper you mine the better the result and quality, and one of the gems spot of growth would be near rivers, and crystals or gems often are found on islands with a volcano with a flow of river nearby, keep this in mind

    I mean not saying he’s not doing it right it’s just no heat is worth way more than heated gems but also way more rare but it will still increase the value of a lower quality (lack of a better term) gemstone by taking a clear or maybe discolored stone

    The only "refining" they're doing is heating, which can (but not always) increase the saturation of color. It can be done more accurately in a digital kiln
