Well, first of all thanks. 3 of them were new to me and I will check them out. My favourite free plugin is probably the Kotelnikov by Tokio Dawn Labs. Actually, all their plugins are great, but this one is an extremely versatile, yet tranparent compressor.
the latest freebie I downloaded really impressed me. It is Limiter no6. I only use the limiter part but it sounds much better than Ozone on signals that already have the desired amount of distortion. Also the best pultec type EQ I have found for free is Acqua's Coffeepun. When I want to use a Maag style EQ I use Luftikus by Ikjb. and I forgot to mention Brainworx Solo.
My favourite ones: - Varhalla Supermassive is another great one - Oril River Reverb - DragonFly Reverbs - All of Analog Obssesion plugins are great too, specially Sweetbox and sweetdrums - AirWindows plugins for some specific creative destruction and construction. - TDR VOS SlickEQ another great EQ specially on the 2 Bus.
I'm gonna have to mention a synth: Dexed. Free open source FM synth, emulating a DX-7, but with all the controls available on the panel. It's utterly fantastic! The Melda Production free bundle. It's a BIG bundle of good plugins. Valhalla Supermassive. No need to explain, it's Valhalla. Totally outstanding. Izotope Ozone Imager. Stereoizer for free. Works great. Izotope Vinyl. Does what you think. Fab!
One of my two favourites free synths! The other one is HELM, a free synth with 2 oscillators (every oscillator can have up to 15 voices) + sub + noise, it olso has feedback control, distorsion, LPF/HPF, delay, reverb... It is crazy and you can modulate almost anything!
I'd have to give it to Airwindows. It's this one guy who has maybe 1-200 plugins that are all free. He's just supported on Patreon. He has some really unique quirky plugins you won't find anywhere else, as well as more "mainstream" plugins. My favorite have to go with the console and tape emulations. He also has some really special compressors as well. And a lot of really cool harmonic and distortion plugins.
Hey Warren , loving the channel . I would recommend the Nalex amp sims . They are more geared towards metal , but can do rock very well , and sound killer .
@@banigrisson Well, Warren did ask that what are Your favourite free plugins on the comments. Hence my answer to that question. Have a wonderful day or whatever the time may be there Bani. :)
Your reaction to the DC1A is my reaction every time I reach for a Klanghelm plugin. Amazing quality. I use them in every session I do. They are SOOO good its ridiculous! Tony's a genius.
Wow, this guy is so obviously super skilled. He is finding those horrible awful sounds that you just want to shut off instantly, blends them into the mix and suddenly it sounds amazing.
After watching this video, I decided to try out the "Cypress" plugin from Black Rooster Audio. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised to find out that they offer a FREE plugin pack which contains multiple plugins, including Cypress. Thanks for the heads up, can't wait to try them all!
Yeah, it's a modern approach to mixing of course. Many new age plugins offer more than one functionality, sometimes blended in just one knob. That's why I believe it's a new approach. Very different from the analog era. New plugins are often 100% different in functionality.
@Luke Also, there's some blessing in being limited. It's easy (just expensive, lol) to have the latest bombastic pro suite that you put on your bus and it does the entire mix for you. It's much harder to work with dead simple plugins and achieve something great and fresh. Limitations breed creativity
I think some people like collecting stuff. Do you really need three different acoustic guitars? Probably not, but I have three and I’m going to pick up a few more.
Warren. Thanks so much for all of your content. I'm getting my rig back up and running and you have helped tremendously. So much in fact I noticed my open web tabs were 8 of your youtube videos. Appreciate what you are doing. Thank you.
Thanks Warren. I've been bingeing your tutorials since Christmas and it's been a revelation. I've been making music for 30 years and I've learned more about mixing in the last 2 months than I did in the previous 30 years. I can't thank you enough for your generosity with your knowledge and experience. However, I'm now going to forget all that because, after playing with Valhalla Freq Echo this morning, I've decided that from now on I'm going to concentrate on making tracks that consist of a drum loop and live knob-twiddling on the Freq Echo. Joking, but I do love that thing. Instant Adrian Sherwood. From one Hampshire boy to another: cheers mush!
Zynaptiq Subspace, when automated, is a fantastic little tool for gradually making a vocal or guitar fade into this massive echo. Great at the end of a song especially
A note about the free Klanghelm comp. It's actually a different beast to the three comps in the paid MJUC version - so it has a flavour you can't quite match in it's bigger brother. I found I preferred it for some uses over the MJUC.
LP10 is great. I think it's called a kick replacer but what it basically is a very good LP filter. Great for adding Sub weight without too much dynamics.
I've been waiting for this. Thank you so much! I'm not in the position to spend (a lot of) money on plugins or anything for that matter, so this is absolutely cool to know where to find some great free plugins. I'm really grateful for that! ❤️
thanks Warren some great free plugins have a couple of these, the Cypress TT is great especially for that British Doom type sound, a couple of free plugins I use quite a bit as having to use fake drums are the SK10 and the snarebuzz from Wavesfactory, cheers from Blighty

Thanks for a great video Warren, really enjoying having stumbled across your channel recently. I am pleased to report that mixing vocals became so much easier after downloading the 2 Klanghelm compressors and stacking them with about 3db GR on each. The warmest, most transparent, super levelled vocals for free, unreal! Will be trying out the Solo reverb and Muscle too - that really seemed to pick up on those quiet sections in the vocals. Obviously automating them would be better but it did a great job. Complete time savers a lot of these, thanks once again for everything you're doing.

Hello Mr. Huart! Thank you for another fantastic video. I will be looking into some of these plug-ins. I have an unrelated question that I’m hopeful you (or some folks from the community) may be willing to share insight on! I’m wondering if you would be willing to share what interface you run your sessions on, and what Mac OS you are on! I use a UAD Apollo X16, and absolutely love it. However, I recently upgraded to Mojave (from Sierra) and have noticed changes in errors/CPU performance...
