I found this really well produced how both have their trauma they try to cope with and how they try to handle everything, the girl deals with it trough just run away from the problem and he just try to do the best of the situation. Really good short movie.

So I think it’s implied she’s a teen mom. In the first scene her mom is screaming at her that she never takes responsibility. So it makes sense that could be a reason she ran away from home, she didn’t want to take care of a baby and left her mom to do it. It explains the dream she had too. So her leaving in the end is just the theme of her not taking responsibility repeating itself. She left the guy to take care of the injured man and face the consequences himself. And since you can hear flashbacks of her mom yelling and a baby crying at this end scene I think that pretty much solidifies the theory.
