Front back rests won't reinstall with the original hardware, its a nightmare getting them to reinstall

I just did this on my cart. Really bad instructions, but easy enough to figure out if you fiddle with it for a bit.

The 2 triangle brackets that suport the foot rest seem backwards, if you swap them, they would prevent the foot rest from tippping down when adults step on the rest. Watch other videos most support the leading edge of the foot rest.
