  • In this video we will be going thru replacing the air conditioning compressor on old body style (OBS) GMT400 type Chevrolet and GMC trucks with R-134a refrigerant. The particular compressor shown in this video has developed the belly leak so common with the GM Harrison division HT6 design of A/C compressors from this era. We will be performing the repair using only genuine OEM parts.
The truck illustrated is a 1999 Chevrolet K1500 Suburban with the 6.5L turbocharged diesel engine option, but the procedure and part numbers I share with you will be the same for any 1996 thru 2002 GMT400 generation OBS truck or SUV. So Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC for Escalade, Suburban, Silverado, Cheyenne, Tahoe, Sierra, W/T, and Yukon across C1500, K1500, C2500, K2500, C3500, and K3500 weight ratings.

Great video!👍 I thought that pressure switch was going to crack for sure😄 Darn plastic typically dries up and gets brittle. I failed to replace the service ports and caps on my 1990 Blazer's compressor swap and that's probably why I still need a couple cans of refrigerant every summer. Going to redo the assembly your way.👍

Fake news/old wives tale insofar as GM vehicles. The GM service manual specifically requires it, as shown.
