Came here right as I saw this amp announced. I've been thinking of a Badlander for a while now, this is cheaper, does the IR thing, but has 3 channels, verb, a gate, etc... and it's made here in Canada
sounded really good, seemed easy to dial even with all the knobs too. Ooof though, $2100. Guess that's not bad these days, considering other 20W amps are selling for this much. Unpopular take, a lot of these modern amps sound like they are trying to emulate a modeler more than the other way around, lol. I'm old.
You need to talk to Fryette amps and have them make you an "Air Fryette amp" to cook your steaks 😉

I was looking at a 5150 III 50w Stealth, Mesa Badlander and the Victory Kraken II... I guess I have to buy this Revv now. Revv has been an amp I've wanted for a long while and I'm stoked they brought out the 50w with so many quality of life features and tonal options. Great review Kyle, much love brother 👍🏻
It may just be my bad luck, but I have the 50-watt stealth and love the tones. However, it is problematic. Channel 3 keeps screwing up. Took it in for a warranty repair. They said it was an EQ capacitor and fixed it. Got it home, same exact problem! So make of that what you will. It could happen with any brand, I'm sure, but that's been my experience.
@@AD1978leo Appreciate the input. I've wanted the 5150 for a bit now, but the great clean channel and Two Notes IR out on the Revv really has me looking to go that route. It seems a touch more versatile as well.
@@AD1978leo I've got a 50 Stealth sounds fantastic, no issues 3 years in. Also owned the Revv 100w flagship, sold it couldn't gel with it's tone and feel.
@steveo4253 Hmmm, good to know, I also love the 5150, so I'd bet I would feel the same with a Revv amp.
If you like the tone of the revv just go for it. after buying tons of gear I realised it's better to go for what you like sonically even if it has no particular features or versatility, otherwise you might regret your purchase

I have the G3 and 4 and the G8, really want the 50W was hoping they would go bigger than lunchbox and cut the 120 in half to 60w but 50w works! I honestly have to sell some things, the mix of the red and purple channel definitely has the best of both worlds, clarity but also heavy G4 saturation

Agreed. Decent enough but hardly anything special. For that money I'd be looking elsewhere.
Since I have that exact same 120, I cannot justify the 50 to purchase, BUT I love the size, price point and 3 channel layout. AND you still get the gate AND a 6 button footswitch so you can set 6 presets!!!!
My next Revv will likely be the D25. Not nearly as belligerent, but fun ;)
You don't, this has one high gain channel with the purple and red mixed. It's a new tone. The others 120W were either both, Red or Purple.
Love my g20 and match that with a g4 pedal for a wicked cost savings with all the great tones of the 120

I love Engl fireball 25 like its the one for me, in your face sound but its also nice to have a different flavor amp, how do u compare this amp to a Engl?

depends on a lot of things, but tough decision. Both could do thrash straight in, both are very modern voiced. Both have built in gates. Hmmm

This thing just went to the top of my wish list! I've got a bunch of 50 watt heads, but none have midi, and they all have only 2 channels. Having a dedicated crunch channel and midi control would enable me to set this up nicely for gigging. I've been impressed by the demos I've seen of the 120 but I just don't want to lug something that big and heavy around. And the 50 watt heads are already plenty loud enough for the bar stages that I play. Gonna try to pick one of these up for sure! Great demo, thanks!
This is rad. I’m curious to see if the ones shipping with EL34s sound much (if at all) different. Also, every time you bust out that Randall cab it’s my favorite cab. I need a Randall XL cab.
A REVV G20 or G50 is definitely my Twin Reverb replacement. The voicing is right to my ears. I am doing more experimental metal these days, so the clean/blues tones are not needed so much now. Thanks, Kyle!

Hey you should see how that les paul silver burst sounds through it
Can always run a Rackmount EQ through the Effects Loop. Love my DOD 31-Band EQ, know MOST Guitarists don't/won't use that many Bands, but very nit picky lol. Plus, this particular EQ was actually designed/built back in the late 90s (believe '97 was the exact year,) for Rackmount Guitar Rig Systems, with effects (all the sorts; Midi, Pedal, & Rackmount). Most definitely had to be one of those staples in my rig to keep everything under control lol as well as makes it look like Mission Control 😜
Right now, I have a Condor HiFi and an Equinox for my eq…Used to have 2 Empress ParaEQs, thinking I need a new one…My high gain is coming from pedals right now, it’s the easiest way for me to run 2-3 amps at once without having to switch every amp from clean to od/dist😳😂Though I LOVE amp distortion, trying to find a way back to it
Is it just me or did you use the neck pickup on the purple channel on the silver burst Les Paul?
He has the toggle wired backwards,, I noticed the same thing and mentioned it, he told me he has them reversed

@@MarkLugo-x2j he said it sounded flubby, I thought maybe that was the issue too but he told me he wires them backwards. He said to use my ears not my eyes, I did and also had him stating it was flubby so I assumed the neck pup was why. If he had its a mistake I make often. Dialing in my board and amp wondering why its so dark, neck pup on🤦♀️😅

It sounds great, but I wonder how Revv amps are for techs to repair. Are they a nightmare like a Mesa or fairly easy like a Marshall? I'll have to do some research on that question before I ever consider buying one
* knocks on wood* Can't speak to how hard they are to work on, but I've used my G20 a fair amount since I got it back in 2020 and I haven't had to change out tubes or get it serviced.

I'm 100% not. this guitar is wired backwards due to dead pots in the bridge
