- When it comes to the art of storytelling, few do it better than Stephen King. His success began in 1974 with "Carrie." He has since written more than 50 books, selling more than 350 million copies. For over 40 years, filmmakers have turned to King's library for inspiration. King joins "CBS This Morning" to discuss "End of Watch," the final part of his bestselling Bill Hodges trilogy that started with "Mr. Mercedes," and why he is concerned about Donald Trump's candidacy for president.
this guy is a national treasure.
Agreed.
International
One of the only things I love about America rn lol 😂 hyperbolic statement but for real he is an American gem I love him
An absolute genius ... and a very funny interview
Stephen King is a true Legend. He has put out some master pieces.
THE STAND.........is what i suggest....doing nightmares and dreamscapes now
He has put out some great stuff--but End of Watch was maybe his worst--a piece of junk. Stupidest plot he ever came up with.
It'd be great if they would stop speaking over him and interrupting him. 😒
they always do, because they think we have no attention span.
Like we don’t want to hear them talk only the king
A legendary writer. No one sucks you in a story better. An icon!!!
Yep! Beyond any doubt on of thee absolutely greatest authors of modern storytelling. A true genius when it comes to words, and also an amazing person!
Facts, facts fact. Oh did i say facts?
Mr. King you look fantastic! Your books have entertained me throughout my adult life!
"My mother said 'If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all,' so we won't talk about Children of the Corn or any of those things..." LOL
Haha I heard that too... too bad it got lost on her speaking
perhaps he is finally tired of saying that he doesnt like the Shining.
??
He doesn't like the movie with Jack Nicholson. It left important parts of the novel out.
he was cracking a joke there...but they didn't get it because they were too busy talking!
I love Stephen King's books. As a high school senior in 1975 I found the book "Carrie" in a garbage dumpster and I've been a fan ever since. At this point there's only 2 Stephen King books I haven't read yet. "Finders Keepers" and the one mentioned in this clip.
Those two are pretty good actually. Part of the Bill Hodges/ Mr.Mercedes trilogy.
Wait , but why were you in the dumpster ?
I do love this man! Not only his works but his lectures and interviews. I buy some books just because he ays the foreword!
I love most of his books but especially some of his lesser known short stories and nobellas like The Mist and Night flyers
Agreed. His novellas are some of his best work ("Apt Pupil").
I agree 100%
Love you, Stephen King!
I absolutely LOVE and RESPECT Mr. King. :)
I've read so many of his books. Started in middle school.
Started reading king back in high school in '98.....never picked up any other author since.
That is what happens when one starts reading his books. 🤗💚
Stephen King is my God!
I could see why if you are a Chihuahua, hahahahaha.
Smarter than all those reporters combined
He's an icon.legend.pantheon.an artist worth infinity and immortality.proud constant reader since 1996..king forever.
7:03 "Stephen King, always great to have you." The lady in red's enthusiasm fills the room. (Even stranger, her lips don't seem to move when she speak his name.)
Himself is the true suspend,mystery,horror...and more⛰
Great man.
Stephen King, se estiver lendo isso, saiba que eu sou seu fã. Você é um ótimo escritor. Eu comecei a minha carreira de escritor bem cedo, assim como você. Tenho uma história para contar. Procure e você vai encontrá-la.
He shows just how square they all are
Read Mr. Mercedes and Finders Keepers now i have to read End of Watch.
The covers are nice.
Alright Stephen is the dogs name Rusty or Buster? 😂
The Best...
The irony of Rose’s comment-he probably wasn’t wearing _pants_ there. 🙄
I hear a lot of the same questions asked of him in interviews and I want to know how often he reads his own novels or like if stand by me/the body is based on something real, or what books bu him are his favorites, or if he has seen analyses of his works he agrees with, or if his children has read the books and such. Also his daughter is interesting too I wish there were interviews of her or he talked of her. I’m so interested in his life. I also wonder if he ever had any other jobs or if he is living his dream or whatever
Stephen King, your the best!
SK is one of those best authors of all times with his sharp writing forms of success and claiming gloomics with "sleep with the lights in" stories....
Why is the title on the screen 'King Me?' I that intentional?
00:57 awkward for whatever reason
Whenever the shot of King isn't directly in front of him I keep imagining him wearing a bolo tie for some reason. Maybe it's the hair and the shirt and jeans, but if he was, he'd totally rock that tie.
Hail to the king!
0:17 King's classics include The Shining and Miser(?).
What a great man! - And I LOVE how he hates Trump! - God bless Stephen King!
Hehe. Just read the outsider. Laughed hard when the Trump commentary came in. Just a few lines in a 560 books but still fun!
@@user-kx7do4fh2j Man, there's a ton of comments like this in If it bleeds too (the outsider was ways better btw)
Apparently he didn't grasp his mother's lesson on "if you don't have something good to say... Yada yada yada" .
Also venting in an interview on current political views and issues is completely different than dragging it into something as long term as a book. Bad form I'm afraid.
I haven't read Tommy Knocker's , Insomina, The Mist, nor the Gunslinger series.
"What did you see that got us Cujo??" LOL
Stephen King, please write an all out horror novel again, like Salems Lot, or Pet Sematary, or The Shining, or IT...
Try his 'THe Outsider.' IT starts out as a cop novel, but it ends up in boogeyman land. Skim the first 50-100 pages if you need to--they are kinda boring. . .but it rocks as you get into the story.THis one was 100 times better than the dumpy End of Watch
@@chrish9852 i really like end of watch, but haven't read much of him
Untreatment and peaceful content in life frames are one those best gifts in middle of differencies and world need seeds of innovations of recognizable stabilize opportunities to reach prominent ungloominess in hardest sustain situations in wide-globes.
I'm confused, why didn't he say explain that this *is* a horror series, set against a crime thriller backdrop?
6:08 what a richie tozier
Dang, those were some BURNS
~I couldn't ever write really great horror books like Stephen King I'm not.~
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I did an embarrassing fanboy reaction video to this. No regerts.
Is there anything about this guy that isnt just absolutely fascinating_!?
Why dos it say his name is King me?
I love that Shawshank redemption woman story, he put it in bazzar of bad dreams it is so cute and funny. Also they talked right over his children of the corn joke 🙄 if they were truly Stephen king fans they would know which movies are bad /he hates ! (Ahem ahem KUBRICK)
All his books are good tho.
They were kinda rude to mr king
Lets talk to this legendary author....but lets shove in a little bit about trump
Perfectly right about DJT. Unfortunately.
ALL HAIL THE KING! 🤘👽
It was a good interview until they bring up a tweet he posted about Donald trump... like why did they have to put him in the spot 🙄
Anyone that vain, thinking he finds them that interesting they will be a huge inspiration for his next book.
Gayle King is very pushy in this video. King is very private with his thoughts. No need to be controversial. He does not have to reveal all of his thoughts. I like that in King. He is a thinker.
Mr Mercedes,, was better than ,,end of watch,, . But king is the best!
Rusty
I'm surprised he remembers writing Cujo. If I had written that novel I'd wish I had forgotten it. That's the worst novel he's ever written, and argueably in the world.
Stephen King is the GOAT 🐐👑🙌🏽
Can we get an apology from steve about his comments on trump? He was very wrong, we miss our economy under trump
He tells the cujo every time he does a talk, how does she not know that. The hairdryer story ... they all come out .. .every single show.
I love Steven King, but I still think Hillery is not good for the w White House
Damn, it doesn't matter who is in the White House. A president is just a talking head.
there was only one good one JFK
???
hahaahahah--and Trump is Good? Are you Russian or what?
dumbest comment ever
WTF he has a very tiny legs .. he seems to me a real monster who writes books 😂
A genius who despises the current presidunce with every fiber of his being. Coincidence...I think not.
I hate when authors, actors, and other entertainers use their fame to spout political opinions. It would be nice if they could separate the rhetoric from their professional lives. For instance, how would you feel if you went to the doctor and, while treating your condition, your provider ranted about the latest political topic or election results. The doctor can rant about politics on his or her own time, but not as part of their job. Stephen is using his "public" Twitter account to make political statements and then using an interview about his book to do the same. It's just not cool.
He was asked a question. He had to answer it. Furthermore, what's the problem with it? There's nothing morally wrong with it. It's worth noting he didn't go after Trump in his novels, but only on twitter. For this reason the Doctor analogy doesn't hold up. Twitter is a public forum and it's the perfect place for celebrities to voice their political opinions. Sure, Trump himself uses it all the time.
MewCat100 Meanwhile a lot of other people seem to feel that if you aren't using your power as an influence to help liberate....then your wasting your presence in the celeb category. So...given your logic, celebs wouldn't be able to intervene or get involved when something you don't like happens. So therefore you couldnt complain if it happened to you and you suddenly felt they needed to stand up for you. A change of heart may then happen.
it's so unfair to present Stephen King only as a horror writer. he's a naturalist first.
MonkeyBusiness naturalist?
"My mother said if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all." And yet he made numerous tweets bashing Donald Trump. Hypocrite much?
Now that's called "talking truth" don't you think?
And the truth can be ugly and not nice, but it's true.
So it's a lot different than "talking nice"
Truth? No they are just insults. I've read his tweets. No facts. Just name calling without any actual facts.
The difference being Trump is a politican advocating policy for a country, while movie directors are people he works with. He just wanted to avoid the question. Trump supporters should understand ;P.
***** You fucking idiot. I don't even live close to the despotic USA. I don't care if you all die. I was pointing out his contradiction you imbecile.
***** I'm not mad. I'm baffled by how you liberal Americans readily jump to conclusion while having NO information at all. And all of you are borderline illiterate, like troglodytes.
End of Watch was King's greatest dud. A crime to end the detective's life with that stupid book. . .the previous two books were kool, but End of Watch should have been dumped into garbage bin. Unfortunately, when you are a s big as King, you can publish anything. .. .and that includes garbage, which End Of Watch was.Two tumbs down and a big birdy to this one.
Cringe.
Fairly vapid interview. Not a comment (necessarily) about the cast...except for the guy. He's worse than the stereotypical dumb blond...ah, hell, here I am being negative. I just can't stand these shows in general. And King is way too good for them.
Trump great for america
