I don't mind the flat spine but the glued binding is honestly unacceptable for the price. It's a shame because it looks like a well constructed book besides the binding.

For me I’ve been loving his X-Force and Wolverine, Gerry Duggan’s work with Marauders, and Zeb Wells’s Hellions. Not to mention Hickman’s X-Men. And another thing that’s great is I’m almost finished the original New Mutants omnibus vol. 1, and so I’m being introduced to a lot of these characters in these older stories just now and now I get to see where they’ve ended up 30 years later. When I read Dawn of X’s issue of Nova Roma, not an hour later I co-incidentally read the original New Mutants arc of Nova Roma. It’s like Marvel planned this with their release schedule of the Chris Claremont/New Mutants omnibus and the Dawn of X/X of Swords. That cohesion has greatly amplified my enjoyment of these books. It’s almost like I’m reading historic reference material catching up with the history. Hickman is really utilizing the full history of X-Men and I’m reaping the payoff to wonderful effect. I've had this pre-ordered for a while now, and I'll echo others in saying that the glued binding is really disappointing, especially given the size of the book. Much smaller oversized hardcovers have gotten proper sewn bindings, and given this is a $100 book shipping nearly three months after it was originally solicited to release, I would have expected it to be done properly as well. I really hope this isn't about to become a trend in Marvel hardcovers going forward, or I may have to cut down on what I buy. I have specifically avoided some DC omnibuses that I otherwise would have picked up because there were reports of their glued bindings not holding up properly. When a book costs as much as these do, I expect quality that lasts.

I understand where you are coming from.
I've read HOXPOX but not DOX. Do I need to read DOX before reading this or is it readable on its own?
Really just X-men and Excalibur should be good.
You should get the inside scoop from David Gabriel if we're getting hardcovers of Dawn of X stuff soon! 😉😬🤓 LOL
There's already pre-orders for some of the hardcovers at Amazon.
@@TezQuetz what are they listed as? Don’t seem them.
@@imaposer3 Yeah, they're listed as OHC for individual titles, so far we have Marauders and .... forget the second one. I haven't decided whether or not to preorder, I'd rather have books with like the first arcs of multiple stories, etc, kinda like Age of Apocalypse omni
I announced Marauders and Excalibur OHCs two months ago. I get to announce another one perhaps in early March. :)
The current X-Men books look so cool but I’m super intimidated by how many different runs there are that are interconnected and how to even start collecting it all. I’m also not super well versed on the X-Men in general so I’m not sure if I’d understand what’s going
I would try HOX POX first and see if you enjoy that as it wipes the slate clean.
I'm very tempted to get this but I think I'll hold out for an omnibus. I much prefer collecting books that way and I think there's a good chance this will be collected in an omnibus too.
I have been asked for a couple of years about House and Powers being in an omnibus... its hard to say as Infinity was in Hickvengers omnibus 1, but Secret Wars was not in Hickvengers omnibus 2.
Can I just read House/Powers of X before reading this or do I need to read all of Dawn of X? If not all, how much of it?
I would suggest reading at least X-men and Excalibur 1-12
So I would need to own more than just the house/powers of X to understand this book?
I would say X-men and Excalibur as those set up the events.
I still don't understand after which dawn of x tpb this fits
volume 16.
Anyone else notice how the black pages in newer Marvel books are absolute finger print magnets? 😳
I've legit just started washing my hands before I read my comics for this exact reason...
I've seen people wear gloves. Those glossy pages have a cost. :) I don't mind honestly, but yeah, rubber gloves.
Matte pages feel better and don't leave prints behind..wish they did few more of those
Omar. Do you know if there will be REIGN OF X TPBs in the same way that the DAWN OF X TPBs were?
I'm sure they will based on the sales of Dawn of.
Is it just me or does that spine SCREAMS for some Dawn of X Omnibus ?!?!?
Not just you.
so I can read this right after finishing House/Powers of X without starting dawn of X?
Nah you should read Dawn of X
At the very least read X-men and Excalibur.
Great overview! I'll be skipping this one! I have to keep room for Uncanny X-Men Vol 4, Claremont/Lee Vol 2, and Inferno.
Oh yeah, the classics.
Amazon pushed it back (again) to april 6th
I heard.
Be honest Omar, Marvel hired you to bind all their books in KY. 😂
HAHAHA! I would have reviewed it sooner. :)
@@NearMintCondition 😂 I also imagined you as Nick from New Girl when he got high off the glue he and Jess used to bind his books.
X-cellent!
Oh yeah!
So there's no sense to pick it up if I only read HoX/PoX?
I mean, i think you might be able to but won’t understand why any of the characters are how they are (Apocalypse, Kate Pryde etc)
I'd at least read some X-men and Excalibur.
Still seems weird for this to come out before the Dawn of X collections were finished. I won't be reading this until I get to read Dawn of X Vol. 13 - 16 first.
That's a good idea to wait to read.
I'll wait for a secondary price discount on this one. Even $50 for a glued-down book is pretty ridiculous.
no, its not, that's ridiculous to even say that
I haven't seen an X-men OHC at Ollies, but trades, yes.
@@NearMintCondition In NJ we have a lucky amount of Like New third party overstock sellers! I just bought HOX POX OHC like new for $12.
@@NearMintCondition Only X-Men OHCs at Ollie's I have bought are Days of Future Past OHC and Giant Size Xmen OHC for 7 or 8 bucks.
É triste que a encadernação não seja costurada.
