Fascinating. Had always imagined such finds would have been buried much deeper..The loss of a silver sixpence in the early 1700's must have hit home hard! And what an intelligent and able assistant!
Hi, thanks for watching and commenting. Yes, Gillian has learnt well and still learning all the time and doing well. So far as the depth of finds... fields that are ploughed draw the soil, and also any finds in it, towards the surface. Anyone who has detected for a few years will no doubt have found some items very near, or actually laying on the surface, due to the ploughing action. The plough is our friend. 😀

Thanks John, much appreciated. Yes, my first Queen Anne silver coin and how apt it was a love token. I was very surprised in my research that she had been pregnant at least 17 times and even when she did manage to give birth to 5 live children, four of them died before the age of two. Very sad. Great video again with some excellent finds again. Tell Gillian that if she’s doing that well then I want my old Deus back 😂 Your lost coin will be somewhere in the car, down in a floor vent or the console. When I took my old car apart to fit some extra wiring I found loads of “lost” bits and pieces.

Hi keith, great video, just a question, found a scattered hoard of georgian coins 4 half crowns 6 shillings and 2 gold guineas 1 soveriegn and a half sovereign, do these count as treasure as earliest coin is 1774,have informed flo waiting to hear back on there decision?
Hi, great finds and well done. As per the video the test for treasure regards coins are 2 or more coins (tick) more than 10% gold or silver (tick) over 300 years old NO TICK. as the oldest coin is 1774. Even if the NEW updated treasure ACT that is goinh through parliament placed them as treasure, the new act only comes in force from 31st July 2023 so as you found these coins before then it won't apply to your find.
