Vietnam street food - Cooking 100 Crabs for 4 People Family Dinner Meal in Vietnam
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 лют 2025
- Seriously, you can find sea crabs everywhere in the world. It is not what I am looking for when I am in Vietnam, specially for my Vietnam street food adventure. What I am impressed at street food in Vietnam when it comes to crabs is Paddy Mud Crab, Rice Field Crab or Rice Paddy Crab. Those crabs are super small and aggressive. People in Vietnam turn them into delicious crab dishes nevertheless. I was lucky to have a dinner meal made of paddy mud crabs with my neighbor. She made a dish called Paddy crab paste vermicelli soup. This dish is a dish have full of water that the broth is charming, and sweet. The sweetness of paddy crab paste vermicelli is from the crabs themselves. This noodle soup is easily recognized by the red color of tomato and crab soup base.
FYI: This paddy crab soup can be labor intensive, but I was surprised to find that it took my neighbor only an hour to make. For a Vietnamese soup noodle dish, I would say that is pretty quick.

Raw Street Capture 101 oh yeah Mr. Crabs
Love you
Raw Street Capture 101 If I was a man I'd wife ya!
This is a traditional Vietnamese noodle soup dish called Bún riêu in case any body is wondering. In American you can get it in some Vietnamese restaurants, though it is usually a rare sight to see as it's conventionally a less commonly known dish to Americans and other Non-Vietnamese people which would make it a harder dish to sell. The flavor is a very light broth with an oceany tang to it from the integration of the crab meat and tomatoes and with the additional added garnish of green onions and lime. It's a very delicious soup during the summer on rainy days, especially in tropical areas. Flavor wise it'd be similar to a Tom-yum soup that is commonly found in most Thai restaurants
I thought he was just going to fry them whole and call it a day..
vietnamese food usually contains alot of spices of some sort
So much work for a bowl of noodles but I'm sure it taste delicious. This is bun rieu right? My favorite noodle soup!!
Super bun rieu. Cheers for exotic & organic food!
Are you feeling it now, Mr Krabs? xD
Abe Farrendy is
Holy shit
it's a dedicated process with Mr Krabs. Crush them, make a smoothies of those crushed body and boiling that smoothies to get the best part/ meat of it.
Heheheh... how does it taste though?
rest in peace Mr krab no more Krabby Patty no more business and no more SpongeBob show he out a job lol
So much effort for a bowl of rice noodle soup... But it looks delicious, your family must really love you 😉
Yes. I am so grateful to my Vietnamese neighbor. Crunchy bite feeling of the noodle, soft bite feeling of the crab paste.
The broth is amazing because of the balance sweet and sour favor of crab and tomato.
god bless you for posting this video! who wouldve thought that making crab paste would THAT labour intensive
Vietnamese people eat really small portions.
I never tried crab pho in any vietnamese restaurant here in malaysia... but i love beef noodles with the mint leaves... surely will try this one if i had a chance someday
those are fresh water crabs, usually living in rice paddy field. they are very tasty
You know it! I like Pho too. I love this crab noodle soup also. I love the fact that all the ingredients were so fresh.
are you Vietnamese?
Vietnamese American
Raw Street Capture 101 really? cool! Im Vietnamese American too 👍 Do u live in Vietnam at the moment?
Raw Street Capture 101 Looks like alot of skill and patience!
Being from the same country and moving to the US at an older age I'll say this, I do love to eat crabs and other animals but i can understand that how it's made is brutal. However I ask that you respect what we have and keep in mind that Vietnam isn't like the U.S. or where ever, it's Vietnam* some people only have this to eat because they live near the coast. Just like other places like Africa or anywhere thats poverished they grind up insects and eat those because they don't have precious resources to make a lot of foods(yes Vietnam does that too) or even get their own food. Keep in mind this is a country that's been through a war roughly 30-40 years ago and has barely recovered thanks to the government. Also, they don't even have real milk in some areas, but instead powdered formula.
Agree. Love the facts you mentioned. I love all the food here. Cheers for exotic & organic food!
The only barbaric part is taking the shell off the crab, but is that really any worse then boiling them alive? Im american and i love seeing what other countries eat and how its prepared.
Jet Pack -
I hate tomatoes
What are u talking about all the meat USA eats has to be killed so silly if there weren’t markets u be hunting for it . Trying make other country look bad cause they catch there food compare to USA killing plants an make look nice in package
am from canada i love food vietnamese

I LOVE Bun Rieu Cua so much! You never see it at Vietnamese restaurants here in Canada. I can't wait to come back to Vietnam so I can eat! I've never seen how it's made before, thank you. :)
yeah. This video is quite educational, isn't it? Cheers for exotic & organic food!
You’re right, I can’t find it in Toronto
I’m Vietnamese! And my grandma handles them aggressively sometimes.
Did you see that little dude at 0:27 crawl across the all the others like a badass? I would keep him as a pet and eat the others.
That's a lot of work for a few bowls, but it does looks tasty in the end.
Yes. It's a special treatment of my Vietnamese neighbor for me. You can eat with me if you want :)
Raw Street Capture 101 i really want to meet you someday... drinks my treat ... 🍾🍷🍸🍹🍺🍻 ... cheers !!
where are u?
i will find you my friend ...

Yes! even I n people like me can see there "SO CALLED" 🤢 traditions . ...
I cringed a bit at the processes but no hate. Respect for other cultures.
would u eat the end product?
U don’t eat meat if u do it has die 1st
Ty for not being rude to my country
Eating this has nothing to do with cultures.
This actually might taste good..I don't know why people are complaining about the crabs though. At the end of the day everyone has to eat. If it's too inhumane for you than don't watch. I probably eat it I'm ok with trying new things...just not tomatoes...I hate tomatoes😂😂😂
Love your attitude. Crunchy bite feeling of the noodle, soft bite feeling of the crab paste. The broth is amazing because of the balance sweet and sour favor of crab and tomato. So eat tomatoes lmao
J-hope is Bae I love your username 😆 💕
It's always vegans lmao. They be bitching about everything
Its wierd to see them without their shell lol
Ekkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkll
I like how the crab was just chillin out on his finger 😂
I rarely dislike sea food , but when she washed the smashed crabs it didn't look appetizing at all.
0:10 Baby crab🦀: "You'll never take me alive human! Give in to my deadly claws... Hey wait. It's not working. Damn you all to HELL."😂

Walt Dco which one dman
1:15 to 1:22 the crab is like..hey I'm the hero ...don't kill me😂😂
lmao. save him
Raw Street Capture 101 😂But how..
I adore Vietnamese food. I got addicted to it back in the early 90s from a hole-in-the-wall restaurant in Tacoma Washington, in an Asian area of town. So excellent, the rice noodle soups, assorted curries. Pho was outstanding. Wish I could remember the name of the place, haven’t been back since I moved in 2005. Anyway, if you get a chance and haven’t yet experienced Viet food, do yourself a favor and try it next chance you get. For a 1st timer I’d recommend beef or chicken pho, Bun Cha and a side of Goi Cuon (fresh rice salad rolls, not the deep fried version)
Omg! i love crabs! i would like to eat it!
Sure. Eat with me. Crunchy bite feeling of the noodle, soft bite feeling of the crab paste.
The broth is amazing because of the balance sweet and sour favor of crab and tomato.
vietnam food my favorit and you guys?
I love Vietnamese food too
Wow, best recipe I have seen for small crabs! Does anyone know what the white liquid the chef added to the crab broth with tomatoes was? I thought for sure it was some sort of starch but it didn’t seem to thicken the broth. Amazing quality and simplicity I need to try this with my green crabs. Thank you for showing!
I'd try it. Looks better than the processed artificially colored fast food sh*t that's served here.
Love your attitude. Eat with me. Crunchy bite feeling of the noodle, soft bite feeling of the crab paste. The broth is amazing because of the balance sweet and sour favor of crab and tomato.
yum yum! lol

these offended people need to know where their steak comes from. And how they made that steak from cows lol
Agree! They are blind eating. Cheers for exotic & organic food!
Raw Street Capture 101 not really. we just kill them before preparing
Hưng Phùng steaks don't grow on trees?
Hưng Phùng ya but we don't cut a steak out of a cow while it's still alive right?. And we have sanitary work stations.
GO FUCK YOURSELF>>>!

AsianRoadRage they actual did it in the most human way they die the second the to is ripped of they moved do to reflexes in the crab.
People need to chill in the comment section when they have no idea there are probably worse things being done to animals for food where they live lmao. The amount of effort and time put into the meal looked much worth it! And they used everything
Yummy! But it didn't look like 100 crabs!
Bridgett Holman : haha 😆 you are exactly right!
Me too..
That's what I was thinking exactly!
100 is waay less than you think :)
I love the fact that nothing seems to go to waste. Those crabs were used to the very last piece.
agree. Vietnamese people are amazing at cooking.

use sea crabs instead
“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”
Mahatma Gandhi
ahoymark injecting steroids in animals so we can eat them sooner is kind?
Hey.... This just for food, dont think hard for it, i mean, what was the relationship of nation and crab for food?
when i had these the vendor just pan fried the crabs whole with a garlic chili sauce and rice noodles... the crabs shells are crunchy of course but easy to eat. its a strong crab flavor but really tasty :)
where did u have them?
I'm not gonna lie I gasped in horror when he started pulling them apart.

Yes sir. Eat with me! Crunchy bite feeling of the noodle, soft bite feeling of the crab paste. The broth is amazing because of the balance sweet and sour favor of crab and tomato.
My favorite part is when she started grinding the crabs up when they looked like they were still half alive :) nice. End result looks very tasty!

Raw Street Capture 101
Raw Street Capture 101
Oooh its sooo yummmy i wanna have some
i will put some crabs in your pant lmao
Seems to be normal now to film some exotic foods being prepared in foreign countries, without putting any effort into it like naming the ingredients or telling why something is done. Then it goes on UA-cam with loooooots of ads and they make much money. Nice, but not my style.
You do not like to travel and learn about new cultures then
You seem not to be able to understand different points of views. I would like to see how foods are prepared in other cultures, but I think it cannot properly done without any comments in the video. And I think this is lazy. It's just a money machine for channels like you. You put not effort into it.
Now that you mentioned it, I kinda agree with you ..
your family must be hungry, like really.
we do. Crunchy bite feeling of the noodle, soft bite feeling of the crab paste. The broth is amazing because of the balance sweet and sour favor of crab and tomato.
FOUR CHOPSTICKS TO STIR THE CRABS. my people are something else, but I'm proud of it LOL
Bun Rieu
Cheers for exotic & organic food. Eat with me!
Joe Joe you spelled it all wrong😂😂
I would eat it that for sure! But I don't want to see how its made cause that would make me sick.
you are blind eating then.
@@rawstreetcapture1012 you are one dumbass person
If you think this kind of stuff as dirty and not tasty, just leave it for me. This is really tasty and healthy food. And they never waste anything. How amazing.
you know it the best. Eat this dish with me mate
Lol it makes my head scratch.

Mister C F .
Crab pho. Looks pretty good if odd from a western perspective. I like pho. :)
I like Pho too. I love this crab noodle soup too. I love the fact that all the ingredients were so fresh.
Its called bun rieu. Pho is a name of a different kind of noodle/ broth
I will definitely try the rice noodle soup, only if I haven't seen how the meal was prepared...
why? see first and then eat
delicious?
Yes sir. Love the fresh ingredients. The broth is amazing because of the balance sweet and sour favor of crab and tomato.
When they ripped that first crab apart and the little leg was moving still I cringed.
I come from the UK. It takes us an hour just to fry an egg. Never mind cooking a yummy crab dish

@@rawstreetcapture1012 OoF lmao.
Moral of the story - Vietnamese are a different breed
They were still alive when cleaning them and breaking them the most monstrous video I've ever seen😢
Laeticia Laeticia crabs need to be alive while cooked because if not it could be dangerous and distasteful
I mean yea it looks good. BUT NOOOOO POOR CRABBY STILL ALIVE OMGGG
rice field crabs. They are at their full size
i never tried crab but this looks delicious
even sea crabs? These are rice field crabs. They are at their full size
😭😭
you skipped a good dish. I'm so sorry for u.
ahaha good answer :D
Look, we know it's cruel how they are prepared alive but there is no other way, the same crabs come to the turtles and drag them to their wells where they have also done it, the truth is the only way to eat them or you prefer eat them already dead like the supermarket, those that have already died and do not let them suffer long time until they finally die of dehydration and lack of food, it is better to catch them and kill them at the moment to let them suffer a good😁😲😘
long life Islamic life and kind Islam 😍😍😍
best food for human
the best crabs ! can only found in rice field. makes the best bún riêu and canh rau đay.
AGREE. Cheers for exotic & organic food!
how the starting cooking when they are alive
sooooo baaaad 😣😣😣😢😢😢
we love fresh food. Say no to grocery food
lele gak cooking them alive is better
Fresh is good, but kill it humanely. All animals can stress, and being pulled apart while alive will not make it taste any better. In fact it would be the opposite as stress produces natural toxins, and it's why stressed people never look healthy.
Raw Street Capture 101
You know you can very easily and super quickly kill them first.
You don’t need to be torture animals or are you one of those people with poor mentality and get a type of sick pleasure seeing animals and children in maximum pain.
Explain to me how tf are you suppose to kill a crab? Explain that to me. Should we smash it with a hammer until it’s dead and then cook it? (I’m being fucking sarcastic) YOU tell me how do you PROPERLY kill a crab.
cooking in the gutter, lmfao Using that good old HARVESTED SEWAGE GUTTER OIL YOU ALL LIKE .
it's hygiene Lmao. Eat with me.
D Barker you should worry about human meat harvest sold in usa get your priority more accurate
D Barker lol yesss!!!
I like to eat craft and look so good delicious food.

You know how to do it. Super tasty to eat.
O my God.. You 're not humans
Cheers for exotic & organic food!
jojo tzoulove And you’re a bitch

georgia a All humans are disgusting. Not even just about food. And the word humane is misleading.
Guys I'm half Vietnam and I am familiar with all this street food stuff going around there
Yukh
Thank GOD I am Muslim
Totally harm yuks
Crabs are NOT haram what do you mean?
@@faebalina7786 Anything you think is disgusting/vermin is haram
When you only know how to cook poop
you skipped a good dish. I'm so sorry for u.
Stfu
I didn't knew you could eat these. When things were being put together, it looked really tasty. I'm wondering how it would taste if the crab meat was extracted perfectly by a machine somehow, then put together and pan fried with seasoning, before being put into the dish. I bet it would be heavenly, even though I never have eaten this crab meat.
I work with similar crabs (green crabs) , how the meat (protein) is extracted in this process is the best way to do it and genius. No flavor or nutritional value of the mince is washed away. The broth is used as is the foam which is coagulated proteins extracted by crushing. I’m going to start using this process myself after seeing the efficiency. 💯
We called it TALANGKA in the 🇵🇭 PHILIPPINES , it never grow bigger like blue crabs or mud crabs . Only like that size in ur video
that crab holding onto that finger for dear life
Mmmmm. I'm viernamese and I love this dish when I make it another way. Soooooo tasty
what another way?
That some quality cooking. Making a delicious meal out of such small crabs. I can hardly get all the meat out of the big crabs.
lol. this is my daily breakfast. So good
Awesome how that became such a clear broth. Very cool.
Call that's Bún Riêu haha very tasty !!! you need to try it.
correct! My favorite Vietnamese dish.
It's kind of crazy watching this video. I actually didn't recognize the soup until the tomatoes went in and they pulled out the bowl with the rice noodles. If this is the dish I'm thinking about, it's actually really good, though mine usually had more spices in it (a little more red in color, which is why I only recognized it once the tomatoes went in)
Are u vietnamese? You must know this dish then
Had to ask my mom the name since I only knew it as red crab noodle soup. She said it was Bung Ricu
yummy brain crab boiled... good video! keep doing guys...
best way to cook rice field crabs
That looks delicious. Greeting from USA.
