Hey Tim! I have been waiting for your Note 5 review and this one is indeed excellent. My postpay contract with my current provider is about to end, and I am currently using an iPhone and I think switching to android must be a good choice as I really want a flexible phone. This video helps me a lot. Thanks! I'll get a Note 5 and I am decided. 😊😊😊
+gantswood The battery life on the Note 5 is great! I very rarely have to recharge in the middle of the day. When I plug it in at night it's at around 40% - 50% sometimes! The S7 Edge should have the equivalent battery life as well! Let us know what you end up going with ;)
Can you make a comparison between the Note 5 and the Nexus 6P? BTW thank you a lot for the awesome video, it was really informative and unbiased. Great!
I have the iPhone 5S 16 GB and was thinking of switching to the note 5 64GB because of more storage space needed to make videos and take pictures for my podcast show, and after seeing this video I'm leaning more on buying this phone.... Thank you!!!
Hey Tim, loved the vid. A bit different from your usual reviews but the way you integrated tips and tricks along with the review was really engaging. Great work and Thumbs up !!!
Thanks for the 5 month review. I had the Note 4, so I was kind of worried about upgrading but the Note 5 is even better. Love the new features like screen write which I use all the time. Over all it's just a smoother running system with a great camera. It consistently out shoots my wife's iPhone 6s plus in real life shots.
I had the note 5. It was great but I had one problem. The bottom mic stopped working properly. So when I would make phone calls the person on the other line could barely here. I had to use the speaker phone quite often just to mitigate the problem. Which sometimes wasn't good especially in public. I didn't want everyone knowing what I was talking about. So I ended up turning it in after two months. Sad to let it go. Once the Nexus 6P I bought that phone which with my iPhone 6s Plus have become my daily drivers. I switch between the both of them. Sometimes though I do miss the note 5. Great video.
Thank you so much for this review! I have the Note 2 still and was unsatisfied with it after I've had it for a long time. So I really wanted to know how this one stood up after some time :)
Tim surprised with everyone complaining about the size of the device in hand you didnt mention that users can use the one handed feature by enabling it and then clicking the home button three times to activate it. Great feature for those whos hands are smaller.
I actually just got a Note 5. I went from a Note 4 to a Droid Turbo 2. I found myself trying to make myself like to Droid, but I couldn't, so I took it back and got a Note 5 and I'm love it. I thought I was going to miss the removable battery and the SD card slot but I haven't.
Had the Note 5 for 4 months and I Accidentally dropped recently and got a replacement and I could have upgraded to something else due to me having the ability to upgrade every 6 months if I want to but I choose the note 5 again. that's how much I love this phone. Owned a lot of phone since 2005 and imo the Nexus 6, Note 5 & the Galaxy S2 are the best phones I've ever owned!!!!
Nice review. I got my Note 4 two months after the Note 5 released to renew my contract. So far I'm loving my Note 4. In 2 years again I will renew but I can definitely say that I probably cannot go for a smaller phone again. Everything about the Note 4 is perfect for me I love to take photographs and having an SD card slot is definitely a plus. I'm sure there will be mixed reactions since I brought up that SD card feature but to be able to expand storage is really a nice feature. Hopefully the Note 6 and 7 will attract more customers because I'm sure the Note 5 disappointed alot of Note fans.
+Mark I'm having a Note 4 for a long time too. I totally agree with you. When I go to road trips I know I won't have access to cloud mostly to store the photos and videos. So the only option left is the removable SD card. The high resolution images and videos fill up the storage quickly and 64GB memory which also holds the OS and apps is nothing. This is the main reason that I'm not gonna go for a Note 5. Plus I use Note 4 as a U-Verse+TV remote control a lot which is missing in Note 5. I believe Note 4 doesn't have anything less than 5 except it's less fancy probably.
I got my note 5 about a week they showed it at Unpack event, I bought it in Asia and till this day I'm loving especially the spen, I use at least 75% to 80% each day cos of work but they should of kept IR blaster and sd card, hopefully the note 6 brings back those features
I have done a test on my note 5 and I have been thru one day and had 80% battery left of minimal use. No need to have the screen on full blast when indoors. But the battery for me I have never gone under 60% in one day of usage.
I'm so HAPPY I watched that video even if am not interested in buying a Note 5 but I have a S6 and fell in love with the material dark theme and now have it on my phone #ThankYouSoMuch
I Had the Note when it first came out then went to tbe Note 4. Always had problems with the phone from the battery going dead very quickly, or just turning off for no reason. and lets not mention its $280 to get screen fix if u break it. There is alot of truth as to why so many people are complaining about this phone after about a year. After a year, Samsung phones usually start acting up with the battery. Not sure if I want to risk it again.
hey I bought a note 5 recently and I'm getting a problem in synching my Facebook contacts on my phone after a few checks on the Internet I found out that it's a common problem do you have any suggestions on how to try and fix it..?
when you take the pen out to write a quick note( when the screen is off) you can just put the pen back in instead of pressing save, which in turn youre saving yourself an extra movement i know its not much of a movement but its helpful
What is your preferred method of backup and restore of the Note 5. Of course Kies is gone. Smart Switch has presented lots of problems. I think that is because the GUI doesn't seem to have any method to backup to my pc. I believe this worked on earlier versions of Smart Switch. So, my problem is that I have just received a warranty replacement phone because my Bluetooth died. This is the 4th phone from Samsung. All different problems. Now I want to do a full backup of my old note 5 and then be able to restore from the pc to the new phone. This may be operator error but if it is there it is not evident. I don't have a phone to phone cable so that is out. Thanks for the great reviews!
I actually like the way new installed apps sitting in the end. I have the habit to install a few apps and then check whether if I'm going to keep them or not. For eg new games. I guess this helps me sorting out apps before rearranging them
They don't include a micro SD slot because they want you to buy the higher GB versions. That means 50$ - 100$ for more GB, when you can buy an SD card with 50 GB for 5$, which is a total ripoff. Samsung really disappoints me...
Misleading title. What this review has to do with being after 5 months? Might as well rename it and remove the "after 5 months" part. I was expecting a comparison (performance, battery life, physical status, wear and tear, etc.) that was mainly focused on performance.
I love my note 5! Everything is still running smoothly. I especially love the theme store, I can make it look like anything I want, including stock Android!
Does anybody know if Good Morning Alarm Clock drains battery? My battery usage for my Note 5 used to be stellar until recently and ever since I've used Good Morning Clock and Good Lock's UI, it has been sucking very badly. :( When I go to the battery's page, it says that neither is draining large amounts.
I'll be getting this phone by next week. I loved my Note 4, but it died on me a couple days ago, so Note 5 it is. I'm not too happy to be stuck with a set amount of GB, but I have to learn to love it.
My new work phone to be. Had to choose between Note 5 and Nexus 6P. Tough call. I hope I made the right choice. Since work is paying for it, price was not a factor.
Web browsing speed is far more important than opening apps. The ram management feature was to improve Web browsing experience. I have an iPhone and although iPhone doesn't kill apps in the background as much it does kill the memory in Web browsing aggressively. For example, if I'm typing a post in a Web page and I decide to open another few apps then coming back to my post I find that everything is erased. Thus us frustrating. Samsung saves your progress no matter what. Even if it has to kill other apps to do so. I prefer this.
So i still have my note 4 and am waiting and waiting for MM and they already announced it is coming. I have been having some slight issues with a few bugs so I will be filing an insurance claim and most likely getting the note 5 as an upgrade for 99 dollars. I think it will be worth it. I really want to get the note 7 though so that will be my next feat and think the note 5 will hold me over for awhile.
For shifting files to the desktop I FTP wirelessly so no having to install samsung junk on my PC and no need to use wires... But my wireless is a bit slow though.
I want to get a Note 3 (Yes, Note 3... You haven't seen it wrong) as a upgrade over my HTC One M7 but I don't know if it's still a good phone in 2016... The biggest thing I care about while choosing a phone, is to have great custom ROM support, which I have seen that it has... But as I said before, I don't know if it would be of be a good decision now to buy it... I would get the Note 4 but my budget will be, what I gonna get for my HTC, so not much (just enough for the Note 3). I had the LG G3 as my another idea for a phone, but I'm not sure about it, due to it having overheating issues because of the damn QHD screen... So any help from you would be appreciated *:D*
Hey Tim, Didn't you notice that the security patch level is old. My Note 5 also N920C, I thought I'm the only one who that level. When will it get Marshmallow update?
easy fix... put the phone upside down... like when ur listening to music... I remember when I had the Note 2 my phone would get hot out of nowhere... I noticed battery drainage and now with my Note 5 I don't have that problem... when I use to have 4G and play graphic intense games it got kinda hot... w my Note 5 it's no sweat... low warmth and sometimes not even... the only time I noticed warmth is when I record 4K and using Snapchat and watching UA-cam and Hulu while on 4G and have bluetooth on and location as well... but nowhere near battery drain like when I had my old Note 2 in my pocket... I guess Marshmallow fixed that idk...
rrbarcarse I was going to get the Note 7 too, but after looking at the Note 5 and comparing it to the note 7, the note 5 looks way just as good maybe even better, the note 5 has the same size screen, display resolution etc, and the note 5 even has a better camera resolution (note 5 16mp camera, note 7 12mp)
Cpt Kush Mush Coming from Note 7, it will be a downgrade. No microSD, always On display, waterproofing, edge panel. But since Note 5 is the next best phone with an sPen I'm willing to take the hit as nothing really can replace the Note 7.
addicteddoll I'm rocking my new black Note 5 64 GB right now. So far really happy that the Note experience is identical. I actually like the thicker S pen tip on the Note 5 as I can use it to press it on the home button confidently. On the Note 7 I was afraid I'll break the tip. Definitely the best alternative to Note 7 with the S pen as the main feature.
I am loving it, the performance is still top notch no slow down in app opening and gaming . The camera is still the best I have seen yet compare to some of the new phones on the market !
hey Tim, How do you have Samsung Pay working with the phone rooted?? I've consistently received the error saying i can't use pay due to it being no longer official
Samsung's RAM management is utterly horrible. Really hope they fix this on Marshmallow. I have the smaller S6 Edge and my OG Nexus 6 runs smoother however.... The Edge beats my Nexus on performance. Good stuff Tim.
I had a Note3 for the last 2 yrs ans today I purchase I phone s plus and I hate it for many reason so after wachting your video i decide to bring it back to get the note 5 ,great video
I have a question...... when is this marshmallow update coming out for the note5.... lol..... or have I missed it..... and if so..... where would I go to get it...... or will Samsung send out........
My Note 5 is still one of the best phones I have used to date and definitely one of the most fun to use. I would have to give the no. 1 position of best overall smartphone to the Note 5 and the Nexus 6p with the LG V10 and Huawei mate S as the runner ups.
I've found that the diversity and mods for the multi window and floating app windows that made the Note3 so functional have gone in this model. I don't think it's as malleable and efficient as the Note 3.
Hi there Tim ... since you have a Snapchat , I want to ask you sth. I've been using a G.note 3 , and recording videos on Snapchat were smooth and great , but now on the note 5 it seems like video recording have some frames skipping or stuttering (I've noticed it also on my friends note 4) especially when you move the phone while recording , is there any way to fix this or at least do you know what causes it ?! it really really annoys me . thanks Tim '
Hey Tim! Hope you are well! How's the battery life with location service and Bluetooth on with this device? Currently I have Bluetooth on most of the time without location services and half its life is gone within 4 or 5 hours! Hope the Note is substantially better.
thanks for the review. i would like to ask something about the phone that did you not use any cover for your phone? if you used one, would you recommend?
I think you dont understand what samsungs thinks about the multitasking. What samsung did is very reasonable for me because it is saving battery life. If you need to do something during game you or whatever just use air command. you dont have to switch apps.
Nova launcher is probably one of the best home launchers and has a more pure android feel to it. All Samsung I got the Nova launcher has always been fast and snappy.
Great valid review. If I could ask samsung one question it would be "why make your 1st and 2nd tier phones so much alike in corm and function?" In case im missing something, some please enlighten me.
Can anyone who has this phone let me know if the s-pen seems to be more pushed in on one side than the other ? Like is one of the corners of the s-pen inserted deeper in the slot than the other corners?
Your S pen issue clicking in your pocket, do you have a case on all the time? I feel like this might solve it. Just curious! Also when you wireless charge does the device heat up? Used to be an issue with old quick charge (Nexus of old)
Will you doing a similar video for the Nexus 6P? Lastly, I have a note 4 on VZ but i'm seriously considering the 6P and moving to T-Mobile. Was just curious of your thoughts on the 6P vs upcoming flagships and if you feel that it may hold up. Thanks!
The 6P is great if you're used to stock. If you're going from a Samsung device and you like all their features, you'll probably be regretting it. As far as your move to T-Mobile, I have them and in my experience, they're pretty good. I have great coverage (of course that doesn't necessarily apply to you, though)
+D33M0N3Y I have a Samsung device now, but I really do like the "pure" android experience. Usually, any special features or gimmicks I can usually add via an app, root, etc. I really do enjoy VZ's coverage, etc., but they are very expensive. I have 10 GB of data and forking over $140/month. For similar data limits, I feel I can get similar coverage for $40-$50 less w/ t-mo.
Really looking forward to 6.0 on this phone. I love it as is, but I feel that all the problems I have will be fixed. Ram management is an area I'd love to see improvement, but I've always given Samsung a pass considering how heavy the feature set is and how responsive all of those features are. OS processes are stored in RAM too, guys.
When I download package disabbler my note 5 cooked. So fast. Honnestly I don't even wanna upgrade to marshmallow it's so good. Recently broke it tho sadly so I'm back on note 4. But i loved the note 5 a lot.
Really good videos man!!! Impressive stuff & quality footage!! Double thumbs!!
+Clyde Lester Lucero Glad this video helped out! You'll love the Note 5 :)
Hey TIM!
Great 5 month review... I've had mine for 3 months and LOVE it!
+ThePhestor Thanks man! Good to hear from you :)
+ThePhestor What is the battery like? I will the Note 5 or S7 Edge
+gantswood The battery life on the Note 5 is great! I very rarely have to recharge in the middle of the day. When I plug it in at night it's at around 40% - 50% sometimes! The S7 Edge should have the equivalent battery life as well! Let us know what you end up going with ;)
+Tim Schofield (Qbking77) when unlocking the phone you have to press in the home button
+tyrell james and hold it in
Can you make a comparison between the Note 5 and the Nexus 6P?
BTW thank you a lot for the awesome video, it was really informative and unbiased. Great!
March 08 : 2016 and its still not updated. I have been using this phone for about 2-3 months now and give it a 8.3/10
I have the iPhone 5S 16 GB and was thinking of switching to the note 5 64GB because of more storage space needed to make videos and take pictures for my podcast show, and after seeing this video I'm leaning more on buying this phone.... Thank you!!!
Hey Tim, loved the vid. A bit different from your usual reviews but the way you integrated tips and tricks along with the review was really engaging. Great work and Thumbs up !!!

Yeah that is one thing I was missing the IR blaster. Once you have gotten use to it is hard not having it.
I thought I was going to miss the removable battery and the SD card slot but I haven't.
fantastic job on this review, thorough but breezy, well done mate
glad I came across this video I got the note 3 but getting this one this week can't wait thanks good video

Hi Tim! I do really enjoy your Note 5 review. Really help me! Thanks!

I have done a test on my note 5 and I have been thru one day and had 80% battery left of minimal use. No need to have the screen on full blast when indoors. But the battery for me I have never gone under 60% in one day of usage.
Where can I buy note 5 refurbished att in low price?
Can somebody please help me out?
Jiwhan Kim ebay or cash converters
I'm so HAPPY I watched that video even if am not interested in buying a Note 5 but I have a S6 and fell in love with the material dark theme and now have it on my phone #ThankYouSoMuch
I love how the main "updates"from the previous generation are a lack of a removable battery and no removable sd card..

They lost me at no sd expansion :(
I guess ill stick with note 4
What were they thinking?

its the next best thing to the note 7.. didnt want to give that baby up today but rather be safe then sorry... hope the next note be a bang!!!

review was so freaking awesome it made me wanna buy Note 5 instead of iphone 6s plus !! if note 6 is as good as this ima definitely gona buy that
Awesome 😀 still not sure if I want the note 5 or s6 edge plus + ??? thanks for the review 😉
I had a Note3 for the last 2 yrs ans today I purchase I phone s plus and I hate it for many reason so after wachting your video i decide to bring it back to get the note 5 ,great video
Hey Tim awesoem videos! Thanks! Are you from UAE???
I have a question...... when is this marshmallow update coming out for the note5.... lol..... or have I missed it..... and if so..... where would I go to get it...... or will Samsung send out........
Hello, i have a question, can you tell me how long battery life last?
I like the wallpaper, where you downloaded?
Jorge Hernandez go to samsung theme store and install material theme
My Note 5 is still one of the best phones I have used to date and definitely one of the most fun to use. I would have to give the no. 1 position of best overall smartphone to the Note 5 and the Nexus 6p with the LG V10 and Huawei mate S as the runner ups.
Do you prefer the note 5 or s6 edge plus!!??
I've found that the diversity and mods for the multi window and floating app windows that made the Note3 so functional have gone in this model. I don't think it's as malleable and efficient as the Note 3.
Note 3 is way outdated .The note 5 is better
Not the point Christopher was making
+Maya Holland I know it's not but he's still wrong
Happy New Year!
I think you dont understand what samsungs thinks about the multitasking. What samsung did is very reasonable for me because it is saving battery life. If you need to do something during game you or whatever just use air command. you dont have to switch apps.
very nice review Tim.
I love your review Tim.... thanks very much
how come my slide down menu is light blue and yours is black?
Nova launcher is probably one of the best home launchers and has a more pure android feel to it. All Samsung I got the Nova launcher has always been fast and snappy.
My battery life is really pathetic and I can't figure out why , any thoughts ?
***** thanks
what is the name theme the note 5
Great valid review.
If I could ask samsung one question it would be "why make your 1st and 2nd tier phones so much alike in corm and function?"
In case im missing something, some please enlighten me.
Can anyone who has this phone let me know if the s-pen seems to be more pushed in on one side than the other ? Like is one of the corners of the s-pen inserted deeper in the slot than the other corners?
good job but what is the theme name that you use on note 5 ?
Tried the G4, V10, and 6P. Always went back to the Note 5.
Hi Tim, what theme did you install on this video?
When do you think the note 6 will be announced or come out?
have you ever did a review on the note edge?
great video man , what do u prefer more note 5 or sony z5 premium in all terms overall for long use 3 years or more?
Your S pen issue clicking in your pocket, do you have a case on all the time? I feel like this might solve it. Just curious! Also when you wireless charge does the device heat up? Used to be an issue with old quick charge (Nexus of old)
+Jax Robinson Nope I never use a case! It does heat up a bit, but nothing too extreme
Still unsure whether to upgrade or not 😕
Will you doing a similar video for the Nexus 6P?
For similar data limits, I feel I can get similar coverage for $40-$50 less w/ t-mo.
excellent job .. keep up the great work ..
I was wondering if it's worth it upgrading from my Note 3 to Note 5?!
When I download package disabbler my note 5 cooked. So fast. Honnestly I don't even wanna upgrade to marshmallow it's so good. Recently broke it tho sadly so I'm back on note 4. But i loved the note 5 a lot.
Nice in-depth review.
Anyone know where I can get this in the UK???
Tim, can you please make a review for Huawei g620s?
I don't know what to get the note 5 or the s7 ?
I was expecting a little more from the battery life. I'm consistently getting 5 to 6 hours SOT with my 6P and once in a while I'll get 7 hours.
Everyone uses his phone differently, so there are different SOT
Screen on time will increase when the Note 5 recieves marshmallow
6 to 8 on my note 5, depends on usage ( crap apps, hot spotting , navigation etc)
i have a note 5 and its on 6.0.1 marchmellow amazing camera
Do you review the HTC M8 M9 & M10 Phones ??
hey Tim any idea when marshmallow will be released??
