+Preenon Majumdar. Yes, both the Note 5 and 6P have their strong points but it all comes down to personal preference. For me I rather a aluminium build over glass with the best fingerprint sensor out. I also could not stand touchwiz and the 6P came with what I wanted on it. But of course in saying that if you absolutely need the best camera, display and processor then sure, go for the Note.
why is everyone saying this phone is bad??? i have a friend who owns one & it is working absolutely perfect! im even going to get one myself. i dont see anything wrong with it
It's funny how some ppl just don't really care for the s-pen and it's features. I love it. It adds another dimension to the usability of the device. If you don't use it you might as well own an iPhone or Nexus instead.
puckhead1221 I would miss some touchwiz features and apps and the camera manual controls and its quality. But stock is definitely improving feature wise.
I absolutely love it. As an insurance agent, I find the s pen functionality really useful. I can make quick notes for appointments and pin reminders to my home screen for the upcoming week on a whim.
#1.Why would anyone not put a screen protector on their phone to protect it from scratches and or cracks from being dropped? #2. I believe you called the microphone a speaker, and it has worked just fine for me. #.3. The audio is vary loud and clear, just as the screen quality is fantastic for both photos and videos. #4. Having a slightly bigger and slightly higher resolution screen is a plus for those who bought this phone, so they can use the Samsung Oculus Gear VR headset. Due to the images and videos having to be half the screen for each eye and thus half the resolution, there is a tiny bit of pixelation when using the Gear VR, but this tech is still new to the cell phone arena and will surly improve over time. #5. The camera works very well in low lighting situations for both photos and videos. There are some features from my Galaxy Note 3's built in camera app I do not see, but since such things can be had via a future download/update, or through another camera app....
This is a guy who clearly doesn't poll people on how they use their devices. "Most of the writing will be done on screenshots"? Really??? I guess if your main reason for writing is noting likes, dislikes and flukes of a phone, that might be true, but the average Note user is going to do most of their writing while making shopping lists, writing down hasty and important notes, or adding contacts or dictated addresses quickly. NOT screenshots. And then: "...a nightmare to organize later"? Where have you been, Mister Doesn't-know-what-Scrapbook-is? You don't take a shot of the whole screen to make a note about one part and then save it in "the huge bottomless bin." You use Smart Select and save one small part in the scrapbook, in neatly-organized categories which you can expand on-the-fly, complete with notes and even text recognition to help you out if you want to search it later. I use the pen on a fairly regular basis, and I love having it every time. Otherwise, good review.
Nice review, I've had the Note 5 since just after the launch and it's been great. I can see how some may not need the Spen but it's essential for my work. I disagree on the battery life. I'm a heavy user and this battery lasts a long time, 7 hours ost is not unusual, don't know where the 4 hours came from. On the Note 4 the major pain in the ass was having to switch of the phone, take of your case, take off the back, replace the battery, and then put the damn thing back together. Not convenient during a busy work day on an engineering construction site. This battery goes on and on. I have a battery pack but now I leave it at home, never used it and will sell it. As regards storage, 1.I never trust Micro SD cards, they are prone to unexpected failure, I had this experience with a SanDisk 64gb. Luckily I was backed up. 2. I have a lot of sensitive engineering data and documents, and a stolen or lost phone could be very valuable for my competition! I use the cloud, including One Drive for business which is highly encrypted and safe.
Got my Note 5 last week, so far it's alright... I've noticed some stutter on the Facebook messenger application but that only was a problem when I had like 20 applications open in the background. Also was surprised that the day I picked the phone up from AT&T Android 6.1 was available. I prefer the look of that compared to 5.0
I'm sad to report that after about 2 to 3 months of using the note5 i am now having some crashing a slowness issues which for such a powerhouse is a little annoying and sometimes it bugs out so much and freezes on a screen or smth of the sort and i have to restart however it's still great and the issues are definitely occasional still pretty sad to see a phone nowadays still experiencing these problems :c
+King X KoK This is how. You should do this on any android device every few weeks. Phone stays speedy. You won't lose data etc... support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-23240
I had to get the note 5 my note 3 touch wiz was not working but could take a fall. Yet the note 5 is good and the screen is amazing, and the camara I love.
Note 3 is a great device. I've owned a 3, Note 4 and currently a Note 5. The 3 main reasons why you would consider a Note 5 from a Note 3 are; 1) Screen resolution/clarity - You will immediately notice a difference side by side in viewing photos, videos, reading text. 2) Build quality - Exceptional. Huge difference. 3) Camera - If this matters to you, it's even better than the Note 4. Perfect photo almost every time. If your Note 3 is still in tip top working order, I'm sure none of this will matter as the Note 3 is a super solid device. However, I feel that you will be pleasantly surprised after using the Note 5 for 1 day. Cheers
+TheRealATV Yeah I've owned all three too, I agree with what you said. The brightness of the display is a huge selling point to me, I hate not being able to see anything on my phone when I'm in the sunlight. Also the phone is much snappier and the ability to take the S-Pen out and just start writing has helped me out so many times. It's a great phone.
I've had every Note.. At first I was hesitant because of the no removable battery and SD card but the Note 5 is way better than the Note 4..dont fool yourself.. Ha
Most of my writing is in SNote, which is very well organized. And of course you can expand the storage and battery of you really need to but I rarely do.
Quicker promise for software updates? That's their selling point?! I'm rocking 6.0.1 on my HTC A9. The Note 5 still has Lollipop. Either Samsung is lying, is irresponsible or puts user experience on the backburner if they believe they're providing a better software experience for Note 5 users. Also, why only the Note 5? Why should other users be published for trying something different like the S6 Edge variant? If these are flagship devices, they should be treated as such. Apple makes no exceptions for their devices, even older ones. My old iPhone 4S was rocking the latest IOS, the same version running on the iPhone 6, before my Galaxy S5 got Lollipop. I think this sort of behavior really calls into question Samsung's deligence, dedication towards their customers and quality, and the necessity of the still heavily skinned and often lackluster Touchwiz.
+demalih Again, you misread, I know what he said. Problem is that it's a horrible selling point, a questionable promise (6.0.1 is already out and Samsung can't get their Marshmallow build public yet?) and an inappropriate software policy.
+Dark Rush I am getting weekly updates on my Galaxy S6...You do realize that the Galaxy S6 already had all Marshmallow features baked into it through those weekly software updates?? Doze feature, security updates, raw-camera support...The S6 can do those stuff while on Android 5.1.1 while those features were specific for Marshmallow.. So don't be fooled by numbers because the device itself already has those "new," features/updates. Next time, before spreading false information, do your research >.<
+Kameel exactly I hate how people are obsessed with number s while I'm getting 6 to 7 hours SOT easy with doze on my note 5.. Security patches are a thing now and stock android has barely any features compared to touchwiz so why would it matter, people complaining about updates don't even know what differences 6.0.1 had with 6.0 and don't realize OEM can implement code in other releases in an 'earlier' update as well as fixing bugs themselves without relying on small google updates to do it.
+Kameel That's not accurate and you're an idiot. Not arguing a troll and fanboy that makes excuses for his favorite company, but I will set you straight. Security patches come from Google, more with 6.0 than 5.1.1; only Marshmallow has dose, app permissions and now on tap; and also adds revamped features like a new app drawer and more emojis by default.
Seriously ? 2 glass panels are BS only good thing about that is maybe a better build quality but one unlucky drop and you have nice shattered panel which you cannot just replace with a spare one ...
Judging by various drop tests i can't agree with that sure they do drop those phones intentionally to break but like i sad that can happen to everyone , plus the glass panels makes phone slippery and this is not a small one ...so besides a "superior" feel in hand i see no advantages of this design whatsoever :|
Ivan Boskovic Well I think about it like this. With all my phones I do need to put a plastic case on it but does it make more sense to protect plastic with plastic or say metal/glass with plastic? It makes me think of the phones as more valuable so :/
+Mohammad Tawash Hey, sorry to hear. Wanna share what problems you've had? Likes or dislikes are mainly to judge the quality of the video. It's not really fair to call somebody's work bad just because your phone is bad ;-) ^JR
How long did Pocketnow wait before they released this After The Buzz episode? August 2015 to December 2015 is a very short 4-month span. It's probably just 3 months if you factor in the logistics that Samsung had to iron out in delivering the product to market.
Jaime, you're great at reviewing phones, but when you touch on battery life can you provide screenshots of screen-on time in your future reviews? It'd give much better context for all of us since battery varies wildly depending on the person's usage. Thanks!
I've had my Note 4 for exactly one year now. I've had some issues with it but I still love it. 32GB on-board storage + 64GB SD Card, IR blaster so I can use it as a remote and I just put a 10,000mAh battery in it (3-day battery life). You can't do any of those things with the Note 5.
Would be interesting to know how you handle the phone switching in regards to have messages, files etc synchronized:-). Nice re-review. I'm an Windows user - and love it. But I must admit that lack of apps is slowly killing me
+Andreas Kürzel I keep my contacts and calendar synced with Google, my photos on Google Photos, files on DropBox, email on Outlook. Switching can take about an hour if I've had the other phone turned off for more than a week. ^JR
I don't know how you kept yours dent free... my Note 5's corner is dent after the first fall. Also the power button is very hard to press. It feels very different from the volume buttons since the volume buttons have more travel ( with a very satisfying click) than the power button.
Would it be a good choice to get this or wait for the note 7 that comes out next month? I heard that it might have an edge display and if that's true then I'll definitely not be getting it
I'm hesitant to update to Marshmallow with the Note 5. When lollipop came out onto the note 3 and 4, their performance went to hell after about two months, DISPITE running the Google Now Launcher. Samsung's flagships rarely age well as Android evolves. I hope this case is different.
marshmallow makes it faster believe it or not. I got mine recently enough to have it default on the phone so proceed with caution cuz it might be different but I don't have any problems
+LARRY113Z Google Now Launcher drains my Kindle Fire HDX 7 in no time even not using it. I only use it once in a while, I have everything working on it except the Google Play Store since they updated the tablet before I found out that the update made the Play Store not function properly, if I had installed it before it would have worked fine. I use all other Google apps with no problem.
+LARRY113Z I've heard a lot of good things about the Note 5 and 4 with 6.0. You should be fine, but it's always best to get the newest version of Android out the box.
I have a Note 5 and a few weeks ago I updated to Android 6 and battery life had a BIG improvement compared to what I had with Android 5.1.1. The battery life last at least 2 hours more than before. And ram improvement, smoother experience and some other nice features, its way better than before.
I'm thinking of getting a second phone just to use as a media device and storing it with notes, important dates, music, and a few games. Should i get the Note 5 or Nexus 6p?
in the past couple of years, I've hardly used a replaceable battery or beefed up the storage, so am quite satisfied with what is offered here. I have my photos backed up either by WiFi or on Clouds, so there's no requirement for extra storage. My only negative about this phone is the RAM Management. If you don't mind some apps to reload, then this is a very good device.
Man I feel like this phone was just released and we are already getting an after the buzz. I think that says something about Samsung and how many smartphones they've been pumping out recently.
This is the 5th iteration of the Note series and I still haven't seen developers take advantage of the hardware. Are there any standout productivity apps outside of Samsung's own suite to take advantage of the pen? I'm glad Samsung gives people the choice of input but I don't think this will be more efficient than a Blackberry.
I think the Note 5 is still quite new.
BTW, very nice video guys ☺
agree
Agree
It's surprising to think that this device is already 4 months old. It's aged very well eh?
+hypno159753 haha Ikr I think they just ran out of video ideas hahaha.
+Peter C hahaha
its already 6 months actually
time is passing fast
For me the galaxy note 5 is the best phone of 2015
Meet the nexus 6p
+Prithvi Kumar met it. Still think it narrowly comes in at 2nd to the note 5
nooooooo
+DiversityFx chill it's my opinion. just let it be

why is everyone saying this phone is bad??? i have a friend who owns one & it is working absolutely perfect! im even going to get one myself. i dont see anything wrong with it
Nothing is wrong just stuff missing
everyone saying this phone is good not bad ❤❤❤
I've had lots of phones. But the note5 is truly something else. a beast!
I've had my note 5 for a year now ..it's an awesome phone don't get caught up in the hype of the note 7 ..
It's funny how some ppl just don't really care for the s-pen and it's features. I love it. It adds another dimension to the usability of the device. If you don't use it you might as well own an iPhone or Nexus instead.
well it's cool and I've been a fan of it but after getting the S6edge+ I don't miss my Note 3 :P The pen is nice but not essential
+MadMike41 Then you might as well get the Nexus for stock android and quick updates
puckhead1221 I would miss some touchwiz features and apps and the camera manual controls and its quality. But stock is definitely improving feature wise.
I absolutely love it. As an insurance agent, I find the s pen functionality really useful. I can make quick notes for appointments and pin reminders to my home screen for the upcoming week on a whim.

they been working Jamie like crazy
Jaime is the man
I think Jaime is working himself like crazy. He probably just loves what he does hence why he makes like 90% of PocketNow's videos.
+D33M0N3Y I think he makes all of the news videos, makes this series and the fitness series. He works so much we should be really thankful.
+D33M0N3Y You can tell he loves what he does.
cause they only get views cause if Jaime revera the main man
thx Jaime .. this series is way more better than "First Look" or "Unboxing" videos .. Good luck and keep on the good work.

note 5 isn't available in Europe :(
:(
You're troll
Yeah I know that was so annoying cause that meant I had to get it imported to the UK

will never replace my Galaxy s6 edge with the Note 5. Just love the compact size of it after tons of phones with at least 5.5" displays....

i am now having some crashing a slowness issues which for such a powerhouse is a little annoying
and sometimes it bugs out so much and freezes on a screen or smth of the sort and i have to restart

i thought android lollipop made it automatic for clearing useless cache/data

Honestly, I'm still satisfied with my Note 3. Don't see much of an improvement with this phone and mine.

When comes the HTC One M9 in "After The Buzz"?
I've got Galaxy Note 4 for Chrismas, a lot better than this. You can remove the back and the battery. And put an SD card.
so outdated
I've had every Note.. At first I was hesitant because of the no removable battery and SD card but the Note 5 is way better than the Note 4..dont fool yourself.. Ha

yea
Jaime, will there be the Galaxy S6 - After The Buzz?
Excellent video. Stick to iPhone 6S Plus. The battery on the iPhone 6S Plus is unbelievable.
But iOS is boring, and the S6 Edge+/Note 5 are much better in build terms.
lol thats cause it has no features to draw the battery
+Callum Montgomery iOS is boring (True Story)
I enjoy my iPhone 2 days. You don't.
+Phone Daft just it time, you will feel boring.
i used iphone 5 for 2years and it was freaking boring.

thanks but sorry for the dislike because i own this phone for 2 months and its baaaaaad really :(

Its so obvious that you haven't even used this device for a day! Nobody can atleast hate this phone.
I love these "after the buzz" videos
How is the S6 aging? its still incredibly powerful and still receives updates.
Little odd that the After the Buzz for this phone is done now when the S6 hasn't even been featured yet.
How long did Pocketnow wait before they released this After The Buzz episode? August 2015 to December 2015 is a very short 4-month span. It's probably just 3 months if you factor in the logistics that Samsung had to iron out in delivering the product to market.
This Buzz version comes a little bit too early. Since the Note only available from September :D

Jaime!!!! where is the galaxy s6 after buzz?
I LOVE AFTER THE BUZZ. Great work guys. Again
Jaime, you're great at reviewing phones, but when you touch on battery life can you provide screenshots of screen-on time in your future reviews? It'd give much better context for all of us since battery varies wildly depending on the person's usage. Thanks!
Why are the Note 4, 5 and S6Edge+ have ATB on the same year?
ATB = After the Buzz
Note5 and S6variants are supposed to. have their's on 2016
No Jaime review is complete without mention to alcohol 2:42
Isn't it too early to do an ATB for note 5? It just came out few months back. Where's the galaxy S6 Atb?
Jaimeeee why u not install glass screenprotector!!
Would you pick this over the Nexus 6P?
Was waiting for this particular After The Buzz, Thanks Pocketnow and nice video as usual Jaime. Happy Holidays to you and the entire team, enjoy!!!
Hey what's the name of the shooting game that was demonstrated on This video ,I'm keen to track it down on the play store.
what game at 5:26? thank you.

what about the s6 after the buzz? note 5 has just being released basically.
Damn Jaime, +Pocketnow has now also put you in charge of After the Buzz? do you enemy have time for brewskis anymore? #FeelforJaime
Why is there no after the buzz for the note 4?
does people owning the note series frequently uses the spen?? or is it actually not worth it? compared to the normal s series or even the edge series?
note 5 was released in october 2 months ago so WTF, the buzz has not finished yet
+Pocketnow
should i go for the 32gb model and keep my g3 or sell my g3 and get the 64gb model. Im on a budget so what do you think
The Note 5 isn't even out in Switzerland yet.
Will Jaime do an iPhone 6S after the buzz?
Guys the Note 5 just got out...
Why don't you do the S6 instead?
I've had my Note 4 for exactly one year now. I've had some issues with it but I still love it. 32GB on-board storage + 64GB SD Card, IR blaster so I can use it as a remote and I just put a 10,000mAh battery in it (3-day battery life). You can't do any of those things with the Note 5.
Nexus 6P next?
I have the Edge plus and it's great. but isn't the M9 getting Marshmallow very soon ?!
what was that spaceship game he was playing????
What's that game you were playing?
love this phone, but lately I cant seem to get more than 3.5 hrs on SOT?? any thoughts?
I heard that it might have an edge display and if that's true then I'll definitely not be getting it
Troy .Taylor a bit late now lol
I'm hesitant to update to Marshmallow with the Note 5. When lollipop came out onto the note 3 and 4, their performance went to hell after about two months, DISPITE running the Google Now Launcher. Samsung's flagships rarely age well as Android evolves. I hope this case is different.
marshmallow makes it faster believe it or not. I got mine recently enough to have it default on the phone so proceed with caution cuz it might be different but I don't have any problems
+Beboabracadabra 234 Similar situation with the jump from KitKat to lollipop. But it got bad about 2-3 months in.
5:24 whats the name of that game?
I got the Note 5 for christmas, its pretty addicting to click the pen
I have a Note 5 and a few weeks ago I updated to Android 6 and battery life had a BIG improvement compared to what I had with Android 5.1.1. The battery life last at least 2 hours more than before. And ram improvement, smoother experience and some other nice features, its way better than before.
Commercials for the Note5 are still everywhere. Seem more like during the buzz than after to me.
I'm thinking of getting a second phone just to use as a media device and storing it with notes, important dates, music, and a few games. Should i get the Note 5 or Nexus 6p?
A couple of countries in Europe aren't even selling it - carriers are instead pushing the Edge+
Where Michael Fisher at?
It took you guys almost a year to do an after the buzz for the note 4...why is it so early for the note 5?nevertheless great video
jaime what's the name of that game that looks like galaga? is it galaga or what?
Honestly it kind've annoys me how you guys didn't do the regular s6 and edge before the note and plus series
in the past couple of years, I've hardly used a replaceable battery or beefed up the storage, so am quite satisfied with what is offered here. I have my photos backed up either by WiFi or on Clouds, so there's no requirement for extra storage.
My only negative about this phone is the RAM Management. If you don't mind some apps to reload, then this is a very good device.
Sorry, switch off and take off, excuse the typos!!
ive had my note 5 for 3 months now and its been the best phone i have ever owned
So happy that jaime did that one :3
This video seemed more like a comparison video between the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy Edge plus. Not really a after the buzz video.
Jaime are you lost? This isn't pocket now daily.
(Loved seeing you in After the Buzz btw 😂)
Man I feel like this phone was just released and we are already getting an after the buzz. I think that says something about Samsung and how many smartphones they've been pumping out recently.
Should i get a oneplus 2 or an iphone 6?
Depends what you like more...
iPhone 6
One plus 2
get the iphone 6s instead of the 6,
Pocketnow can you do a after the buzz on the Alcatel idol 3
I own a Note 5 n I love it, can't live without its productivity features.
Can you guys upload the After the Buzz for the Normal Galaxy S6 :)
i had a question
what if you put the phone on wired charging and wireless charging at the same time? will it charge faster?
put your screenshots in Google Keep. you can search through photos there..
I love how Michael Fisher starts the video, and Jaime Rivera takes over. Awesome!
I like Michael better :(
This is the 5th iteration of the Note series and I still haven't seen developers take advantage of the hardware. Are there any standout productivity apps outside of Samsung's own suite to take advantage of the pen?
I'm glad Samsung gives people the choice of input but I don't think this will be more efficient than a Blackberry.
Should I get this or 6P?
Is this like iPod and iPhone that you can't can't make calls on iPod ? Is the same with this ?
d u mind going straight 2 after the buzz. no need 4 intro on the phone
is the note 5 and 6edge+ camera the same?
Isn't this phone still pretty new?
