I love my Sizzix Big Shot and the Big Shot Plus machines. I've made a 100 of my own card designs and invitations. Also, the Big Shot works for cutting fabric using the fabric cutting dies. It saves time on cutting intricate shapes. Plus, you can quickly cut complicated shapes and sew them together for fancy quilt blocks. And...it's hundreds of dollars cheaper than Accuquilt and Cricut! Unfortunately, you can't program your own unique designs. But there are tons of various dies already out there! You'll never exhaust your creative options. I subscribe to the Scrapbooking Made Simple channel. The owner does a free 2 hour class every Saturday on what all the Sizzix Big Shot can do! She has over 397 videos and owns her brick-and-mortar store for over 12 years now. She's been doing the UA-cam videos for 11 years now. Believe me...I am so happy I discovered this machine. It sure beats spending hours programming your Cricut!!

I agree, I’m not a fan of technology when I just want to use my hands and make things. Fussing with design space is not my idea of a good time.

I love my Big Shot and use it more than my electronic cutter ... FYI if you tilt your die slightly so it is not going directly parallel into the cutter it will go thru much easier.

My first manual die cutter was actually the original QuickKutz (not sure who owns them now but I will always love it, even had it retooled). After I got married, my husband bought me a Sizzix Big Shot. I absolutely love it. I find it does things that my Silhouette can't. I love texturing stuff. Learning the sandwiches is part of the fun. I've had mine for over a decade and just bought the extended plates and creasing pad and I could kick myself for waiting so long! lol I keep a couple sets of the cutting pads in various arrays of carnage. lol I love making cards and mixed media stuff.

I use self-healing cutting mats in place of the fragile cutting plates that come with the machine. They work even better than the sizzix plates, and they don't bend or warp. I just cut them to the same size as the sizzix ones.

Don't forget the shims you have to add to make the cutting mats work though. Guess how I know?

I love my big Shot!! Got it from Tuesday morning..I bought a Spellbinder platinum because it has a bigger cutting area!! And if you want to use thicker material use a bigz die or steel rule die!! A also own a Gemini Pro but haven't used it yet. Many crafters have more than one machine...

I use the big shot for cutting everything. I know as you use it more and more and learn more about it, you will discard your other machine and only use the big shot. Die cuts and embossing are so perfect on it. Just watch more videos on it and learn all about it.

I've had mine for several years. You can make felt flowers and other shapes with it. I make and sell felt circles. I also have a bag tab die that Sew Sweetness created. I wish I understood its capabilities better so I could use it more.

I give you credit for doing all that on camera. I would be so stressed out trying something for the first time there's no way I could have the concentration to make sure I'm filming as well. :D

The steel rule dies are better for cutting thick materials.

Buying dies can be a little pricey, but the benefit is that you own them outright and do not have to worry about relying on software or online access to designs.

I had no idea you could cut vinyl with the thin dies, I thought we could only use bigz dies to cut fabric and vinyl. So that is cool.

Horrible, got my first cutting machine and and chose the Big Shot. The lowest price but still a lot of money to me. Plates won’t advance at all and tried pushing and still no success. I followed all the directions correctly. Reached out to Joann’s where I bought and they passed the buck to Sizzix. Called the phone number and you can’t reach anyone it just tells you to fill out a form online. Still no response from Sizzix. This is so frustrating and disappointing. Think twice before buying Sizzix!!!!!!
