Truth, common sense... but explained in detail and also the how and why explained in detail. I have tried out what he suggests for about the last month of my life and would say I have made as much progress in the last month than I have in the last 5-6 years of my life.
I cleaned my fuckin room, cleaned my office at work, organized my shit, got a more productive, positive and solid group of friends, started being on time to my job everyday on the week, made myself a schedule, stopped wasting time, changed my diet pretty drastically, started exercising, I quit smoking cigarettes, built stronger relationships with my family, stopped fucking around with drugs and alcohol, took responsibility for my actions, stopped playing the victim card and BAM! Life is good now.
The main thing is stop doing things you know are wrong, start doing things you know could improve your quality of life, look for opportunities to grow, have some structure and discipline to your life and things will get better, at least they did for me, drastically better.

Dude, Peterson was just offered 50K by McDonald's to be a full time Grimace for 25 months. How could you say any of that stuff, when that kind of horny deal just went down? Truly despicable and outrageous on your behalf.

How do I make a positive solid group of friends. That’s my biggest struggle

    • @cubemonkeys1514
      @cubemonkeys1514 4 роки тому +15

@@Hakoona Good question man. I suppose you have to first determine what your ideal group of friends would be and the characteristics those individuals would posses. I always struggled in school, didnt go to college right away after HS, but got a job instead. The job was leading me no where and I didnt hang out with the best people. I decided I needed to go to school, I reached out to a few friends of mine who went to school a few hours away, just so happened they needed a roommate. I moved in with them, and it changed my life. I went from graduating in the bottom of my class in HS to transfering to a top business college and graduating with a 3.4 GPA. The friends I moved in with had such an incredible influence on my life they have no idea. They taught me how to study, how to take notes, how to succeed in academics. I learned just from observing their good habbits and basically copying them.
Not trying to be a douche bag, just wanted to share my story and hopefully you can find your truth in it. Look for people who exhibit strong characteristics of what you perceive to be success, and try to spend more time with them. I'm sure they would be happy to help in any way they can!

I can sit in my untidy living room with empty beer cans and wine bottles all over the place feeling depressed, anxious and total despair and it’s hell. When you force yourself to just *start* tidying up, it feels so good you end up getting your place spotless. Then you feel good about yourself, and instead of having another drink or ordering that Just Eat you were about to, you make a conscious decision to eat something healthy. Then you feel even better. Then you do a workout or go on a long walk. And you feel 1,000 times better than you did a few hours ago.
Getting started is the hard bit but when you do it things just get so much better. Start now people!

I graduated in 1986, quit smoking pot, started Community College and got away from my troubled friends, and what he said about other family members giving off crap for the clean room reminded me of how my friends acted 35 years ago when I more or less quit them. I did that and stuck it out, but for a lot of ppl the peer pressure and how they negatively think of themselves makes them go back to what's comfortable. We've seen that same theme a zillion times in movies about the convict that tries to turn his life around but can't and ends up back in prison. Stick with it ppl!

Retiring is but the beginning of the end for most, unless of course youre in the wealthy category and you can travel and get joy from helping those you care about. I've been thinking about this forever!
When I hear people my age talking about their pensions and their retirement plans/goals (I'm only 34) I just feel sorry for them. Basically, they plan to move somewhere warm, golf, and travel.
I spent 5 years of my life travelling the globe, so while I still do enjoy going on holiday from time to time, it's not something I aim for after 65. Also, golf is not my thing.
I'm left to wander then, should I even retire? What is there to look forward to in retirement? If I live until 90, wtf can I possibly do for 25 years that will not be pointless?
I think my generation and younger will view "retirement" in a much different light than our parents and grandparents. We live our golden years in our youth, so our senior years will remain wide open.

Ok, so in this particular clip Jordan talks about how you as an individual will eventually come to know a lot of people in your life. That is your network of people. Those people you know will also know other people (thats because everyone has their own network of friends). This is how (eventually) we are all connected.
So if you were to do something bad like, let's say for example lying to someone about something big about yourself, That person that you lied to will (when he uncovers the truth) feel betrayed and will therefore lack trust in you. That person will carry on that distrust onto other people in his network because he does not want to be embarrassed about believing in the wrong things. Those other people will not like the feeling of lacking trust from another person and will eventually have resentment growing in them about that particular person.
That one bad thing you did will trigger a series of bad things happening.
Every time you do something bad its a lot more bigger than you thought. Every time you do something *good* its a lot more bigger than you thought.
So when jordan talks about your family being a lot more worse if *you* weren't the best you could be, he simply means that you have an effect on others around you. If you are a 24 year old lazy couch potato who stays home, plays video games and doesn't have a job, your parents have another unnecessary burden to take care of, they've got another thing to be stressed and worried about.
Your younger siblings will see your current state and will think its ok to be lazy since their big brother is lazy as well.
Your older siblings would be worried about you and sometimes embarrassed to even talk about you to others.
If you were instead a responsible, hardworking, disciplined person who has a job, then your parents and your older siblings have one less thing to be worried about. instead they have something to be proud and happy for. Your younger siblings have someone responsible to look up to.
You are the center of a network of people. What you do, whether it is bad or good, small or big, will always have an effect on others around you.
If you choose to do something bad, then the world will be filled with just a bit more evil. If you choose to do the right thing then the world will be filled with just a bit more good.
The line of good and evil, as Jordan stated, is not out there, it actually runs right down the middle of you.
Be aware of that and learn to be the best person you can possibly become.

Reaching your absolute maximum potential is your life goal/purpose and your fulfillment comes every night when you live a perfect, disciplined day (that will be full of suffering that is meaningful: for your betterment/purification)

be the light, let your light (actions) shine upon others

How you spend your days is how you spend your life. These are little things that you don't pay much. attention to or give much effort may seem mundane/trivial and you may brush. them off but they are in reality your entire life/being. Maximize the potential of these little things and you will have a better life. Tell the truth, don't suppress yourself/feelings, live to your fullest extent at all times, don't waste these seemingly small/trivial moments, don't waste your life

Homie, you can spend years drinking margaritas on the beach and still be perfectly productive as well lol 😅

I think his point was that people see that as their end goal. Everyday having margaritas on the beach. But I think he means you have to figure out *what else* is going to make you happy too. You can’t just sit on a beach all day, everyday, drinking margaritas.
