I'd love a stingray one day. I love the tone of the pickup, the versatility of the preamps and the y have a load of great colours. I really love the look of the Black hardware. I'm still torn on the dark ray whether i'd rather have a separate pedal or the built in preamp. Looks stunning though.
For me, it's the tone of the pickup. It has such a distinct sound that I can hear a mile away. If it's in a song, I can easily say "that's a Stingray".
I absolutely agree though I say that then often time it’s actually a jazz bass… Of course it’s easier to distinguish when played by themselves but when lost in the mix it’s just a guessing game. Of course EQ and on/off tone knobs plays a huge factor!
The StingRay is probably the best multi-genre bass ever made!!!! I'm THRILLED with my StingRay 5 H Special!!!
Well, to my ears, your '88 Ray sounded the best. The Dark Ray is pretty awesome, too.
Nice video. I love my 2022 EBMM SR Special.
Sounds good

This is a low hurdle for any brand new instrument.
Go to a Guitar Center and take a look at guitars in the $1,000 to $2,500 price range... you'll realize that it's not such a low bar after all, I've seen many fairly expensive guitars with obvious flaws, poorly done frets, etc.
