Jeff, I'm starting my first full-time professional job very soon and I feel like your videos are allowing me to download so much info about how to succeed in the workplace. I studied more technical and theoretical material, so these videos are giving me a ton of ideas about how to wrangle relationships as effectively as I can wrangle data.

Love this video! Just a personal opinion - for some people it might be helpful to add a "Preparation" or "Pre Work" column before the Agenda column to note down what to prep or do before the meeting! For example, send out pre-read, read the product introduction, etc. And therefore the logic of the columns (pre work, agenda, action items) actually follows your before (though slightly different by definition), during, after meeting framework :) but understand that it could be noted separately in other to-do lists as well!
I'm a college student, but I'm definitely using your tips about Rose-Bud-Thorn (oops: Rose-Thorn-Bud😂) and adding the Google sheet to the Google event for recurring meetings. I like how you addressed the "political" significance of having a good 1:1 in the beginning - I would've never thought about it like "managing up". Absolute banger as always, Jeff :D
Not directly applicable to my situation right now, but I still enjoyed watching! It's great how you always include some little nuggets that apply to any context, e.g., adding relevant attachments to calendar events. Super insightful on how to structure manager 1:1, thank you! Please do share a professional development 1:1 structure video as business agenda overrides often career development
@@JeffSu Hey Jeff, it was my first time to really document my 1:1 session with manager so definitely there was some flaws in my execution. But your video and tips have helped me to structure the topic discussion and I can’t wait refine and master it soon. Love to have you sharing the professional development tips for 1:1 with us too. Thanks again for making such an amazing content !
This is amazing - thank you for this video. Could you create more content around managing up, professional habits with a manager, best practices from employee to manager relationships, etc?
A little late here but once again thanks Jeff, I really enjoyed the video! I am in the latter stage of my career (final third), but still find that Jeff does an amazing job of providing the perfect amount of relevant content in a simple, relatable format that has the perfect mix of data and examples to easily apply to real life scenarios for people at all career stages, not to mention his great sense of humor and crisp organized style. Thank you Jeff! I try to watch your videos as often as possible and actually apply your suggestions to my life for better more fulfilling performance and efficiency. I'm sure it is not easy to balance a full time job, keep your videos going, and oh maybe have some part of a fulfilling personal life 😀 but on behalf of all of the people out there who value and respect your work, THANK YOU! I always look forward to watching your videos and do so of a morning when my life is at it's quietest so I can fully absorb the content, take notes and develop courses of action for application to my life. As for the Professional Development comment, YES most definitely I too like the others would love too see a video of yours on that and maybe your suggestions of how to plan, facilitate, and follow-up on those awkward annual meetings like that, which we all have. Other items to consider in a video of that sort might be 1) "how to handle constructive criticism from your manager", turning the negative into a positive re-course of action or b) how to score well on an annual performance review c) how to effectively use the corporate structured performance review process to our advantage throughout the year versus checking the box at the end of the year, etc. A couple of other topics of interest for video suggestions I wondered about is: 1) How to excel in the corporate world as a Consultant/Contingent worker. Realizing this differs across companies based on the vision, goals, and policies but I bet you could do your magic and come up with a concise and entertaining clip on the topic. It's a very important subject matter in the corporate workplace today for people at every career stage and if managed effectively could be quite advantageous to everyone involved on either side (consultant/employee), rather than the "us vs. them" mentality that is so often followed and most big shops around the world. 2) So you got the job! video 🙂 I think that rarely do people stay in 1 job for their entire career anymore. I don't know the stats but I believe I've heard average corporate tenure is 3-5 years. Take that # X the # of working people in the global corporate world and that is a large number of people that often change jobs starting over again and again to apply this information. With that and as a part of that population, we could all use a little Jeff Su magic on how to make the best off it and succeed above the rest (well, the rest of the people who don't know about or watch your videos). I envisioned a 1, 3, 6, 9, 12 month + plan of simple steps or guidelines to suggest for success at each milestone, items to focus on for continued success, things to avoid altogether, and how to exceed leadership's expectations in a rapidly changing world. Or something like that. lol Thank you again Jeff for everything you do. Even though you are amazing at what you do, I'm sure you have days that you question the reward over the amount of work and cost to keep this all going just for the benefit of the fans. Profit aside, you surely must have days where you want to keep your secrets of success to yourself and let the rest of the world figure it out to enjoy more free time for yourself. But on behalf of your fan population a huge thank you is in store and kudos to you for doing what you do. You have no idea the benefit you provide to those of us who look forward to and rely on your work. You are a natural born leader and in addition to improving the lives of your fan base with this content, you will hopefully one day be rewarded for all of the hard work and dedication of blood, sweat, and tears that you've endured over the years to make this happen. Wishing you much success Jeff in everything you do! You deserve it all but most importantly hopefully you will receive more than the expected reward on returns. Apologies for the email length.

@@walterwhite003 Career development video coming up in the next few weeks!
@@JeffSu amazing thanks !
@@walterwhite003 You're very welcome 😁
So Glad I found this Channel. Thank you Jeff. I have some catching up to do.
I'm glad you found this channel too! No worries my friend, my videos and I aren't going anywhere 😉
Jeff's character and videos are so relatable. Is the professional development video in the works or released yet?
Not yet 😂, been busy with so many other videos. Will hopefully get there soon!
Haven't watched it yet, but I know this will be awesome and useful (and funny) already!
Hope the video doesn't let you down 😅
@@JeffSu just finished the video! Very concise and it's appreciated that you apply what works for you. I'll be graduating university in a year or two, so it's awesome that I get to hear a thing or two about what it takes to be a professional. Thanks man! 👏
@@jerichodahilan Awesome! Congrats on getting a head start! Trust me the effort you put in now will pay off!
Jeff, could you make a video about top book recommendations for productivity (or just in general)?
Thanks for the idea Alexandar!! I'll give that some thought 😁, any specific ideas you might have?
@@JeffSu Maybe a scroll-through of your reading list, then some takeaways for each book? Could also do some example note-taking with an excerpt of a book on screen, that would be cool 😀
@@alexanderchen553 got it. I already have a book notes video by the way!
Jeff this is awesome content! If you've made a professional development 1:1 video, please let me know, I could really use some direction on that. Keep up the great work!! You are a superstar!
That video will be out towards the end of the year 😁
Fabulous tips. Thanks Jeff!
Happy to hear it Brian, you're welcome 😁
Hi Jack, great videos. As a professional finance person, would you plz share your experience and advices to us regards to business partnering? Thanks hips
Hi Yan - Could you expand on what you mean by business partnering?
Laughed so hard when you said TRAUMA. 😂 Please do a professional development 1:1 structure video! It would be really helpful. Also, would be great if you did a video on how to conduct effective meetings (where multiple stakeholders are present)!
Got it Regina, thanks for letting me know! And glad you still enjoy the small tidbits of humor 😉
Ditto on the professional development 1:1.
Yes!
Yes I need more resources and tips as well on how to handle my professional development and be responsible for tracking my own stuff rather than letting other people lead that conversation and tell a different story.
Thanks for the content, Jeff! It really helped me with my team! Wish you all the best!!!
Thank you so much Léo! You too 😁
Jeff's intro: yeah so I've never been relaxed ever 😄
Basically....... 🥲
Quality = Infinity/10. Love your content brother!
Thank you my friend!! Glad you found this helpful 😁😁
me: *prepares for the meeting*
Also me but this time during the meeting: *forgets everything*
Try out the Google Sheets notes template 😉
I love this format, thank you!!
Woohooo! Glad to hear it 😁
I don’t think you would have said “trauma” without some aspect of truth to it, and it was pretty funny, and the laughter helped release trauma. But seriously, I could have used this advice years ago in order the anxiousness around meeting with my managers in the past when working in amcorporate environment.
I'm sorry to hear that Dean! I was mainly joking of course - I've been fortunate enough to have great managers - but I understand not everyone can be as lucky 😅
Rose, Thorn and Bud FTW! Thanks as always , Jeff!
Glad you found that framework helpful Alyssa! You're welcome 😁
Super helpful content! Is there a follow up video on the professional development 1:1 structure?
Not yet 😅
Hey! Any chance you ended up creating a video on personal development 1:1? 🤭I have a quarterly meeting coming up, that I would like to be prepared for. Great tips, really appreciate it!!
Hi Kaitlen! Not yet unfortunately! Best of luck with your quarterly meeting!
The background images when you illustrate your points combined with the music give me Christmas vibes 😂
Love it Jeff 😀
Someone REALLY wants Christmas to come earlier 😂
@@JeffSu yeah I also want to lol
This is extremely spot on, helpful, and entertaning. Thank you Jeff!
Glad to hear it my friend 😁, you're very welcome!
You are A Legend Type of Speakers.. Salute !!
Thanks Berton!
Love that sort of videos. So clean editing, reminds me alot of Ali Abdaal but with a more business look. Keep going!
Thank you Mario! And yes Ali inspired me to start creating useful videos 😁
Thank you so much for this Jeff.
You're very welcome Jon! Hope you're able to use a tip or two from here 😁
The personal development video would be awesome!
Got it, thanks for letting me know Garry!
You're my google guru. Any tips on creating an automated workflow for vacation requests, approvals...etc??
I'm working on that video with Harvard Business Review right now :)
Speaking of "timeline stays on track" @ 5:35, I'm relieved this week's global "interruptions" did not derail Jeff's weekly upload of high caliber professional tips
Nothing would 😉
Please create a video on how to manage your team and motivate them to take own the product. I run a 7 person development team who are currently working on a SAAS product. However, I don't see any of them taking on responsibility for the product or thinking out of the box to solve the issues.
That's an interesting idea Nandish! How to motivate others to take ownership, I'm going to have to do a bit more research and prep for that one 😉
Hi Jeff! thanks for sharing so many tips!! very helpful~ will it be possible to see another video going over the professional development 1:1 structure? looking very forward to it ;) ooxx
Thanks for letting me know Ave! That video is in the pipeline 😁
Jeff...... Noooooooo every 2 weeks? really? Ive been stuck in the same job for almost 4 years and just realized why, thank you
No problem!
Would love the professional development
That video is on the channel 😁
Love that you are doing the Chinese hand gesture for number 6 🤙🏻 hahaha
I thought using 2 hands would look too awkward 😂
thanks Jeff, your videos are super helpful 😍🥰
Glad to hear it my friend 😁
yes please to the professional development! This video was great!
Will do, thanks Kenny!!
Hey @jeff thanks so much for these! I thought I saw the 1on1 sheet on your website a while back…can you share that again? Thanks!!
That's so weird, I thought it was in the description. Let me get back to you on this Chase
Love your content so much Jeff! You always make it fun and concise! Thanks :D
Thank you Hazel!! Glad you found this short and to the point, you're very welcome 😁😁
Hey Jeff, which Ghost theme do you use for your website? I love it!
Hm....I honestly forgot...BUT it's one of the free ones. I'm getting it re-designed right now though!
@@JeffSu Ah okay. Thanks for replying though and good luck with the redesign!

Absolute gold
Hey Jeff! Its an old video but it come handy for me since I will have my first one on one meeting with my Manager in a couple of days. I've alredy sent the invite and prepared the spreadsheet to keep track but I would love to get your input on how to handle it for the first time. Thank you tons!
