Why would you down-vote this man? He's teaching one of the most difficult classical guitar pieces for FREE! And does it exquisitely! Bravo sir! I greatly appreciate this tutorial!
I'm just going to thank you each video as I progress. This is the first song I decided to tackle after getting my classical guitar. I've gotten up to bar 32 at a speed and accuracy I consider good. Thank so much. I print out your tabs and go through writing the chord names down as you say them hoping one day I'll give enough shit to remember their names. Once I get this down. I'll post a video for you to watch and send you a little money. Thanks again
@@boltonguitarstudio3115 if you had $2000 max, but wanted to keep it 1500 USD or less. Do you have a suggestion? These cordoba guitars. Some expensive ones are made in china, but they have models made in Spain. Does this make a difference in your opinion? I live in the mountains and rarely make it to a city with large music stores. When I end up going I'd love to have have few models you reccomend, so I can test them. Cheers!
@@MARKBBOICE Hello have you tried the Ramirez 1NE guitar they start at a $1500 or Contreras C4 at a similar price. Let me know how you get on with your choice.
Great tutorial! I was literally playing this piece and I thought on bar 37 "this is a bit of a stretch" to find that you had fully covered the topic! Skills!!
Nice work showing the variants at bar 37. I prefer the stretched barre but as a six plus footer I probably have bigger hands. It is a tough barre cord and as you say it it difficult to make the individual strings sound clear but the advantage is that you can stay in the same position without having to slide back. It also seems that most of the theatrical performers of this peace seem to use the stretched barre cord here. There seems to be quite a bit of variety in how this piece is played. I have two different versions in sheet music of the middle section also. Looking forward to seeing the rest.
I tuned in for bar 37. I’m killing myself trying to get that bar done. I’ve been trying the Segovia way, but my pinky doesn’t reach no matter what. So I’ll play it your way. Thank you!
Yes thats an easier way and still maintains the high E , John Williams uses that fingering. Besure to keep the LH 2nd finger on the 2nd string then drop it to the 'G' then back to the Bb. With slow practice you'll play this phrase.
Many tutors forget one thing before teaching is not show how to set the string as in music class.E1,B2,G3,D4,A5,E6.This will make the student can compare sound to the teacher sound. In class we set guitar string with piano, but we haven't piano at home.Beg your pardon to show setting string sound level before start lesson.Thank you so much, sir.
Yes I understand however I have found that the majority of players [ rightly or wrongly ] now use elctronic tuners, unlike when I started when we would use a tuning fork and take ages to get the guitar intune. I find that even beginners now manage to get there instruments in tune, unfortunately to the detriment of developing a good ear.
I never have any problems with the left hand cramping up. You could be over pressing on the barre chords. Try olding a bar and slowly relaxing the hand till the notes become muted - you then need to hold the chord with the amount of pressure just before the muted notes [ if that makes any sence ] any more pressure is just wasting energy in the LH. Check out my tutorial on how to play Barre Chords. If the hand is painful rest it.
thanks for clarifying the both ways of playing after bar 37. i always got in confused which one to use. i m 8 years old so take a less stretch version. u a great great teacher.
Thank you for your kind comments. I am happy that you are learning this great piece of music. One point as an 8 year old your bones are still developing so never over work your left hand always take things in easy stages and if you get any pain rest your hands.

Why do you not understand bar 40 ! it's one chord shape at the 7th fret and so well explained and it is one of the easier bars. I think you might be confused with the alternative fingering for bar 37 to 39 . If you don't understand this then you should try playing something easier.
