Too many people don't quite understand the difficulty of playing leyenda at this level, actually maybe it's not extremely hard to play it through, but finishing it this smoothly requires hard work, i don't think his performance lacks emotion, it's just his face seem calm, this boy has done a very good job.

I always find it funny that so many people forget your use your ears for music instead of your eyes XD some people need to see orgasm face to think the musician is playing with emotion, I personally think the 'emotionless' face is just one of intense concentration. And typically the orgasm faces are just shitty musicians trying to compensate, although some musicians get pretty animated and are extremely good like Ray Chen.

This is one of, if not the hardest piece(s) to be played on a guitar.. This guy and his classmate Marcin are both phenomenal. They have different styles and should not be compared. One has to recognize their teacher for that!!! Music students are always asked to follow a pre set curriculum instead of being helped to play the music they Love and this is exactly the problem with music schools.. Let everyone fu***** play the music the way they please and watch them be creative and deliver a great performance

@@rfrf8527 Marcin doesn’t play as well c l a s s i c a l l y. As a fingerstyle guitarist i’m sure he’s much better than this guy, but classically he’s definitely not as good as him. The phrasing accuracy and control of his playing far outdoes Marcins playing which was also posted on this channel.

This was great. It was more accurate and played with more skill than Marcin's interpretation of the music. after all the extra percussion is supposed to come from the feet of a Flamenco dancer. Lets not forget the Spanish nation this music came from. They gave us this instrument. Well done Jakub.

AHHH..I heard the bard in our town singing about this kid so I came to this channel
Superb playing of the signature piece for classical guitar. His tempo was that of the earlier recordings of Segovia who transcribed “Asturias” (Leyenda) from the original piano piece. Segovia, THE recognized master and virtual inventor of the classical guitar, only slowed his tempo playing of this piece, when he aged too much to play it as he wished. I disagree heartily with those criticizing for “lack of emotion,” when I think they were not hearing the beautiful modulation and nuances, while looking for histrionics from the young player’s body and expressions. Perhaps as he progresses and with age he will throw in some facial expressions and body flourishes for the rubes watching, but for now his playing is expression enough. His tremolo was near perfect and machine-like as it is meant to be and very difficult to perform. You can measure a classical guitar player by their rendition of this very piece, and this stacks up very well in my view after hearing many, many players.
I saw another video on UA-cam of a young Marcin Patrzalak, which looks to have been recorded in the same guitar school (in Poland?) that this video came from. If so (what some commenters stupidly refer to as “satanic”) that school and its director(s) should be praised for producing two such talented and accomplished students. How many more talents lurk there one wonders?
