    Thanks for the video. A couple recommendations:
    1) A table to compare all of the ones you reviewed side by side would be helpful.
    2) A final verdict of the best service would be helpful for both consumers, and to the manufacturers if they watch your videos.

    Right on Broseph,
    Wowee wow wow!
    I’m trying to think of any other dash cam retailer, or UA-cam Channel that could make a fully comprehensive video comparison on this subject matter.
    No one is coming to mind. I guess that’s what makes you guys the best in the biz.
    Having cloud service for parking mode would be my favorite thing. I can see how that would come in handy for folks who leave their cars in commuter lots for 12 hours a day while they’re at work.
    After watching this comparison, I think the Blackvue & Thinkware would be my top two choices. The deciding factor would be; I like to run two separate 2-Channel dash cams to make a 4-Channel system, (front, rear, left, right).
    Would I be able to do that without paying for two separate mobile internet connections?
    -Chuck

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  2 роки тому +1

      Yep, two cameras should be able to operate off of the same mobile hotspot and data plan. A hotspot uses an ordinary wi-fi connection so as long as the data is fast enough as many devices can connect as the hotspot supports.
      Note that if you're using the Blackvue specific LTE module I'm not sure this is the case as it plugs directly into the camera.
      Cloud + Parking mode is an excellent use, especially with the live impact notifications. BV Cloud has been the most reliable for impact notifications during our testing.

    Are there any cameras that don’t store video on the device but instead upload directly to the cloud in real time? If the police pull me over for speeding I don’t want them to seize my camera and use it against me.

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  Рік тому +2

      The SD card will always be the default storage for footage, but in essence, yes this is possible. Most cloud-connected models do feature a live connection to the cloud, and you can arrange for footage of specific types to be automatically uploaded to the cloud live if needed. For example with BlackVue, bumping the camera or waving your hand near it would trigger an impact/the proximity sensor, which can be uploaded automatically.

    NEW QUESTION for a possible video, add on side cameras. I already have a pair of Garmins covering my front and rear glass in my 4dr SUV, and I like them. I would like to add side cameras for a four channel total and I don't want to purchase a new major head unit system to replace them all. I don't care if I have to deal with multiple cards because those will only be needed to deal with in (an event). I thought about just another two channel set up as buying another single pair of Garmins is pricey and they are still larger than one would want to mount inside your vehicle for side glass coverage. I found a motorcycle cam set on your site on clearance and ordered that, they seem small, I don't need more than 1080p (though more than 30fps would have been nice). The motorcycle cams seem small and easy to fit to a side cam without intrusion like a typical dual dash cam would be use for this purpose, I don't want one giant thing in the middle of my rear seat passenger's window!
    I didn't find a video really covering this issue on your channel (through a very non-thorough search...LOL). I already have my front and rear glass cams...each single units, on my front a rear glass at 1080 60fps each with their own card. I would like to add comparable side coverage. One other neat thing about NOT having a head unit controlling all 4 or even some 6 channel units is, what if there is a disastrous wreck in such a manner as the vehicle burns to the ground. The "might" be a chance the one of my front or rear units broke with the glass and landed somewhere whereas the head unit for my sides (or any head unit controlled system) would now burn and not be recoverable. Not to mention, what if you already like your front and rear and want to invest in sides. I think the 2k market is perfect for that.
    How about a video covering the ideal of adding on to your system. I already use a power switch to turn on the front and rear, I can add the sides to that also...maybe even find one of your parking power systems to go along with that (however, some like the one I ordered draw enough current in wait mode that you might as well just turn it on..I'll test that).
    If you do a video on this subject and use the cam you have on clearance right now, please ship mine before you release the video....LOL, and then afterwards you will have all you stock of that unit gone.
    If you would like, contact me for further questions.
    I appreciate the work that you and people like Vortex Radar put into your videos and Vortex is how I found you, however I thought this would be more suited to your channel.
    Thanks for all your info you bring to us :)

    Thank you for your videos....so well done. Do any dash cams constantly (or at the push of a button) record and upload to the cloud the video/audio inside of the car? Example, I would like to turn on a record feature (if not running constantly while in use) to ensure that the all of my Lyft passengers are recorded to protect myself from our litigious society. Also, if a thief would steal my camera, I'd love to know that the video up to the point that he/she yanks it off would be already available in the cloud. Thank you!!

    Upshot I'm getting is if you want push notifications while parked in a random place, eg not in your own driveway with access to own home Wifi, then any and all systems need a mobile hot spot, 2 gigs or more, in able to link to cloud and push to phone in another location. Is this basically correct....? In other words, no service is net "free" but it is not the dash cam company that costs. That part is free. Only the connectivity to the cloud, hot spot left connected in car, will incur a (monthly) fee. Anyone reading can please feel free to correct my understanding if it is not correct. Aiming to get something resembling (though can't match) Tesla level monitoring with a front and rear dash cam for minimal possible cost.

    Thank you for the cloud dashcam video primer. But I’m thoroughly confused.
    The main draws for using a cloud service with a dashcam for me would be remote live view and parking mode. Monitoring of your vehicle when you’re NOT there vs. when you ARE there. None of these will work with an embedded vehicle LTE data service - because when the car is switched off, data is not active from the vehicle - right? So why are we even mentioning this as a potential connection method for these cloud-enabled dashcams?
    For remote live view and effective parking mode monitoring - you need “always-on” WiFi, whether that is your home wi-fi (obviously works at home only) or an LTE add on device compatible with the specific camera, or a separate mobile hotspot (MiFi) device that is in your vehicle and always on. Is this correct? That seems more trouble that it is worth, specifically with regards to having something in your vehicle “always-on” and the potential battery draw issues.

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  2 роки тому +1

      There are situations where dash cam owners are not basic end users and, for example, would like to know where their employees are while on the job driving.
      A hotspot device with an Internet connection has always been the only solution for dash cam Cloud features up until about a year ago, when BlackVue offered their built-in hotspot module called the CM100LTE that you can check out.

    • @dgigante

      @@blackboxmycar OK thank you for the reply. Just wanted to make sure i wasn’t missing anything. And i understand for basic end users who park near the same Wi-Fi routinely, that these features (remote live view and parking mode) could be more viable. Do you know if the Blackvue LTE module have the option to be “always on”, drawing power from the vehicle battery or an additional power pack?

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  2 роки тому

      @@dgigante No problem!
      The BlackVue LTE module draws power from the dash cam, so it's drawing power when being used from the vehicle (or battery pack, if that is how the dash cam is powered).

    Hi,
    1. With LTE module we must buy and insert a new sim permanently.
    2. Without LTE module
    a. Can we use eSim so I can add more data and to my plan?
    b. Or, dash cam also must have access to continuous mobile connection to process push notification and cloud features within its range?
    That way, sim should stay with dash cam and I cannot keep it in my mobile and with me somewhere else in the world?

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  Рік тому

      Hi there.
      1. The BlackVue DR970 or 770 will take the CM100 LTE module which you can insert an SD card into permanently.
      2. The BlackVue DR970 and 770 have built-in LTE models, which you can insert the SIM card into directly.
      A. An eSIM will not work these cameras. Though, if you have a device that can provide wifi outside of the camera, through an eSIM, that will work.
      B. The cameras do require a constant internet connection to provide the cloud

    When you say the blackvue saves 100 videos to the cloud, is it saving the last 100 videos that dash cam recorded. Let's say the cops pull me over and I want that footage to be saved to the cloud, will it be available the moment after the police let me go.

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  Рік тому

      Footage that is uploaded to the cloud is viewable very very quickly after it is recorded, and I do not see an issue with the situation described. To be clear on how the cloud operates, as the dash cam is recording tons of minute-long clips over the course of a standard drive, all footage is by default going to the SD card, and does not default over to the cloud. You can arrange so that specific incident types however, are sent to the cloud automatically. This can include manual recording, any motion around the vehicle while parked, hard braking, impacts, and so on. Saving the last 100 videos would be a bit too much overall, as the free plan is limited to 5GB of cloud storage. For more information on BlackVue cloud plans, check them out here: blackvue.com/cloud-plans/

The wifi connection only thing is where I'm worried what if I'm not connected to a wifi can I use my mobile data? Next would be the blackvue & 1000 kinda debatable which the u1000s extra features to records while still outta power is great but the biggest problem is not being told when an impact that's a big down side don't know how that got through the factory

    It's shocking how bad the cloud offerings from all of the companies are... Just like their outdated image sensor processors, their cloud solutions and apps are also stuck back in the 2010s. It's like none of them realize that new cars have hotspots built in, or that hotspots and cellular data is cheaper than it's ever been before (Dish Project Gensis $20/mo Unlimited Dish, Att and Tmo data), or how affordable and decent the free/cheap cloud offerings are from camera companies like Wyze, Eufy, etc. Plus their cameras are $35 too.

They'd be better served by a Viofo 1080p or 70Mai a800S in the low $100 range. Luckily I picked up a brand new, open box Blackvue 900X Plus locally for $175, and a Cellink Neo for $100, plus I already have the T-Mobile $10/mo unlimited data hotspot to leave in the car, but anyone can get unlimited hotspot data from Verizon, AT&T, or Dish for $20ish a month, so it's not like we're talking about $40k+ new car market money either. Can get a great LTE hotspot for less than the price of the lens wrap on your lens in your profile pic.
